Chapter Seventeen: What's yours is mine, and what's mine is still mine.

As soon as Ji Fengyao raised her hand, Shang Xiye across from her reached out and took the cup and teapot, filled them with tea, and took a small sip; then he reached out and took the plate of cake, elegantly picked up a piece with his slender fingers, took a small bite, and sipped his thin lips, savoring it carefully.

His movements were as natural as flowing water, and his eyes never left the pages of the book, as if he were completely unaware of Ji Fengyao's inner desires, torment, and subtle actions.

But Ji Fengyao knew that he was doing it on purpose!

As if suddenly realizing Ji Fengyao's glare, Shang Xiye slightly moved the book aside, his clear, star-like eyes looking at the soon-to-explode female bandit with incomprehension: "Is there something wrong with me? Why is the princess looking at me like that?"

Ji Fengyao was furious. That despicable scoundrel!

Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind. Remembering her identity as the young lady of Vulture Village in this life, she brazenly snatched the teapot and pastries from in front of him, slammed her hand on the table, and said fiercely, "From today onwards, what's yours is mine, and what's mine is still mine! You'd better treat me well, or I won't heal your poison and wounds, and you can wait to sleep in a coffin!"

After saying that, Ji Fengyao hugged the teapot and gulped down the tea in one go, making her stomach feel uncomfortable. She then took a piece of cake and bit into it angrily, trying to digest her food.

Shang Xiye wanted to tease her a few more times, but seeing that she really looked upset, he stopped.

He raised the book to cover his face, a slight smile curving his lips.

This little female bandit is quite interesting.

The wedding procession consisted mostly of guards and soldiers skilled in martial arts, and they left the territory of Vulture Village in less than half a day.

They traveled another two miles.

Ji Fengming, who was riding close to the palanquin, suddenly twitched his ears and glanced at Xique beside him. Xique nodded in understanding, and Ji Fengming turned his horse around and walked to the back of the procession.

"Your Highness..." Wuying urged his horse closer to the carriage and whispered a reminder.

Shang Xiye slightly moved the book in his hand and his gaze fell on Ji Fengyao, who was sleeping in a bold posture on the chaise longue opposite him. He said calmly, "Don't be impatient."

Ji Chenhai, looking sprightly on a chestnut horse, saw Ji Fengming approaching and asked with some surprise, "What's wrong? Are the soldiers in the capital so delicate? It's not even dark yet, and you're already setting up camp?"

"No, Father, look at what's ahead." Ji Fengming's sharp eyebrows furrowed slightly. He hoped he was wrong, but he trusted his hearing.

Ji Chenhai straightened up and looked out. He saw towering mountains in front of him, with a secluded valley between two peaks that looked like a string of pearls. That place was the famous "Green Bamboo Snake Valley" for miles around, also known as the One Line Sky.

This Green Bamboo Snake Valley is a must-pass place on the official road. Because the valley is never exposed to sunlight all year round, and the cliffs on both sides are covered with damp plants, there are countless snakes, insects, rats and ants in the valley.

Of course, Ji Fengming wasn't worried about snakes, insects, or rodents; what he was concerned about was the rustling sound of grass blades he heard. It wasn't the effect of wind blowing through the leaves, but rather the sound of heavy objects shifting slightly on the grass. This indicated that a large number of people were lying in ambush ahead, and the terrain of Yixiantian (a narrow gorge) was the perfect place for such an ambush!

Seeing the same solemn expression on Ji Chenhai's face, Ji Fengming parted his thin lips slightly, but no sound was heard. He used his inner strength to transmit his voice secretly: "Father, could it be that the Ninth Prince is unwilling to disobey the imperial decree, and also unwilling to marry Fengyao, so..."

"Never mind that for now," Ji Chenhai said calmly, seeing that the group ahead showed no sign of stopping. "Go ahead and protect your sister. If the man is from the Ninth Prince's faction, kill him with one strike. If not, then ignore him. People have made him out to be a god; he should have some means of self-preservation."
