"You clearly know martial arts, why don't you fight back?" Shang Xiye was furious, the anger and tension rising in his heart was something he himself didn't quite understand.
Ji Fengyao nestled beneath Shang Xiye, still shaken. Seeing him berate her, she felt aggrieved: "Fight back my ass! If I were capable, would I need you to teach me? I just fell down that day and lost all my martial arts skills!"
Shang Xiye: "!"
I have this urge to strangle this little female bandit every minute; her ability to spout nonsense is getting better and better!
He instinctively grabbed her wrist, and found that she truly had no internal energy left.
Shang Xiye's gaze darkened as he looked at her. Could there really be such a bizarre way of falling in this world? She lost all her martial arts skills in one fall, but gained back her superb medical skills.
Just then, I suddenly felt a cold wind blowing in from behind me. Outside the carriage, Xique shouted anxiously, "Miss, young master, be careful!"
Ji Fengyao's beautiful phoenix eyes widened, and Shang Xiye saw in her bright pupils a black-clad, masked assassin wielding a long sword, thrusting it straight down at his back.
"Your Highness!"
Ji Fengyao instinctively wrapped her arms around his back, spreading her palms wide as if she could shield him from the sword.
Shang Xiye pulled a gold hairpin from her hair, flicked it with his backhand, and threw it. As the sword tip was flicked away, the gold hairpin flew out of her hand and stuck in the assassin's throat, sending him flying.
This strike clearly used internal force.
Shang Xiye pushed off the ground with both hands, pulling Ji Fengyao, who was clinging to him like a koala, back to his side of the chaise lounge. He reached out and pressed lightly against the carriage wall, pulling out a purple copper dragon-head dagger. With one hand protecting her back, he used the other to wield the dagger to block another assassin's attack that rushed into the carriage.
Although he had no feeling in his feet and was protecting someone in his arms, there wasn't enough space in the carriage, so the assassins outside could only come up one by one, and he didn't take their skills seriously.
Ji Fengyao snapped out of her daze in his arms and was about to turn around to look when he pressed her head down: "Don't move!"
He wasn't sure if she had also lost her courage from the fall. If she saw the corpses and blood in the carriage and screamed, it would affect his ability to defend himself, and both of them would be in danger.
Furthermore, these people's primary target was clearly the woman in his arms, and their attacks were aimed directly at her.
That might scare her.
Ji Fengyao nestled in his arms, the pleasant scent of soapberry emanating from his body filling her nostrils. Behind them, the sounds of close combat raged like lightning, and the air was thick with the stench of blood. Without even looking, she knew how fierce the battle was.
But she wasn't flustered at all.
It wasn't because she had witnessed far more brutal life-or-death struggles, but because this warm embrace gave her an experience she had never had before. It was as if staying here would shield her from all the storms of the world.
Feeling something wet on her hand, Ji Fengyao curled her fingers and ran them over. The texture was slippery; it was blood.
Recalling how he had rushed to her rescue, she assumed the sword hadn't struck her head because his back had blocked it. Looking up at Shang Xiye's smooth, handsome chin, she said with some concern, "Your Highness, you're injured."
"It's just a superficial wound, nothing serious."
Shang Xiye's voice was colder than usual, his muscles were tense, and every move he made was swift and powerful.
Ji Fengyao knew that this was a matter of life and death, and dared not disturb him any further.
Wu Shang and Wu Zhong led a hundred silver-armored soldiers straight to the top of the cliff.
The woman in black thought that the assassins she had secretly trained were fast enough, but she realized how wrong she was when she saw Shang Xiye's silver-armored army.
Her assassins were no match for the battle-hardened Silver Armor Army; they crumbled in a single encounter.
This is only the Silver Armor Army, not the Golden Armor Army under Shang Xiye's command.
