The last time they heard about Ying Wuji's master was in the side hall of Chongli Palace. When they heard Ying Wuji say that his master was a saint who practiced Confucianism, Mohism, Taoism and Buddhism, they were really angry.
But now thinking back carefully on Ying Wuji's performance, I feel that this statement is not groundless.
Meng Yu couldn't help but ask, "So your comments on the various ruling families just now were all your teacher's opinions?"
"yes!"
Ying Wuji was ashamed: "How can I be that capable!"
"oh……"
Everyone suddenly realized that Ying Wuji's guess just now was so accurate that it was frightening. They didn't dare to imagine that these guesses were made by a young man in his early twenties.
But if we say that this is just picking up what my mentor said, then it is easy to explain.
But even so, this so-called "mentor" should have reached an extremely high level of knowledge and accomplishment.
Could it be... that there really is a saint who never appears in this world?
Meng Yu pondered for a moment and asked, "Since this is the case, I believe your mentor has also talked about the possible consequences of Confucianism in power. Why don't you tell us about it..."
"Say this out loud, it might offend some people!"
Ying Wuji scratched his head, looking embarrassed.
"Just say it!"
"Then I'll just say it straight!"
Ying Wuji rubbed his hands with excitement.
Everyone: “…”
Are you afraid of offending people?
You are afraid of offending people!
Ying Wuji smiled slightly and said, "My master said that Confucianism is a magical art to educate the people. If the world is peaceful and Confucianism is the state religion, then everyone in the world will know loyalty, filial piety, benevolence and righteousness."
Huh?
Meng Yu couldn't help but sit up straight. Could it be that this kid's teacher was also a Confucian scholar? He was so impolite when he spoke about other schools of thought, but he said something nice to us?
But he didn't have time to be happy.
Ying Wuji changed the subject and said, "However, today's Confucianists are floating and empty. They only know benevolent politics, but not the law of administration. If we only use today's Confucianists to deduce, it will be like the collapse of the well field. The gap between ideal and reality is so big that the effect may be worse than that of Mohism! Facing the Legalists, they can only be crushed!"
Meng Yu: “???”
Finally got scolded.
strangeness!
Why use "finally"?
He tried to keep smiling: "Oh? Why is that?"
Ying Wuji held up a finger and said, "One of the reasons is that the Yang and Mo families are very close!"
Meng Yu asked: "What is the reason?"
Ying Wuji smiled and said, "Mencius said: Everyone has a compassionate heart; everyone has a sense of shame and disgust; everyone has a respectful heart; and everyone has a sense of right and wrong. Compassion is benevolence; shame and disgust is righteousness; respect is courtesy; and a sense of right and wrong is wisdom. Benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, and wisdom are not imposed on me from the outside; they are inherent in me.
Mencius advocated that human nature is good, which is also the basis for Confucianism to talk about life and politics today. He believed that as long as the monarch practices benevolent governance and educates the people, the world will be governed well. My teacher thinks otherwise. My teacher believes that human nature is evil! "
As soon as these words were spoken, the Confucian scholars present began to whisper to each other.
Everyone says that Confucianism is the teachings of Confucius and Mencius, and Mencius is the most recent sage to date. The theory of human nature being good runs through almost all of his thoughts, but now some people actually propose that human nature is evil.
Although the sage's teachings were refuted, Meng Yu did not get angry at all, but looked somewhat solemn.
The four words "human nature is evil" seemed to make him suddenly understand what had caused the dozens of previous deductions to fail.
He said in a deep voice: "Tell me in detail!"
Ying Wuji laughed and said, "Human nature is evil, and those who are good are fake. When hungry, they want to be full; when cold, they want to be warm; when tired, they want to rest!
When the Jiuzhou copying scroll was opened, the Master must have seen that before the formation of tribes, humans were no different from beasts and everything they did was to survive.
Fighting for survival, killing for monopoly, mating for reproduction, looking back at the time, it was all for their own survival and the continuation of the race. Anyone who is selfish is evil by nature.
But after the tribe was formed, the old and the young helped each other, the strong helped the weak, and all those who were altruistic were kind by nature.
It's just that evil is instinct, and good is education. So my teacher said: human nature is evil, and those who are good are fake.
In the final analysis, evil is to allow oneself to survive better, and good is to allow the clan to continue better.
Among the hundreds of schools of thought today, Confucianism emphasizes the goodness of human nature and provides education. However, if we only rely on the goodness of human nature, then termites will surely arise.
Yang and Mo took different paths, but ended up in the same destination.
Mohist thought that all people should love each other, and advocated the use of non-music burials on Ghost Festival. Although human nature is the best, he wanted to completely eliminate human desires.
Yang does not pluck even a hair to benefit the world, and does not have all the world serving him. This is why he wants to abandon both good and evil.
The results obtained are naturally as deduced.”
After he finished speaking, there was a brief silence.
After a long while, Meng Yu came back to his senses: "Very good! Although many of the words are open to discussion, but the master's words are profound and meaningful, I am honored to listen to them! Then tell me, how should we govern the world?"
Ying Wuji took a deep breath and said, "Since we are governing a country, we cannot be bound by the opinions of one family. Matters are in all directions, but the key lies in the center; the monarch is in charge, and all directions will follow.
With Confucianism as the soul, we educate the people and let everyone know loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness.
Govern the country by law, punish crimes without sparing ministers, reward good deeds without sparing ordinary people, and punish evil nature while knowing that human nature is evil.
With ink as the skeleton, valuing the virtuous and valuing the same, the prime minister must come from the prefectures and counties, and the brave general must come from the ranks of soldiers.
Use the Tao to cultivate your mind, and use the military to bring peace to the world!"
These words are really eye-opening.
All the students present were speechless for a long time.
The ancient jade on the chests of the three masters of Confucianism, Mohism and Legalism shone with a dazzling brilliance that made people dare not look directly at it.
Three hundred fortunes are at hand!
"good!"
"good!"
