Chapter 130 Testing His Concessions

Just moments ago, Lin Xihe had been nestled in his arms like a fragile kitten, but now her tone was filled with intense disgust, causing Mu Ruoyan's heart to sink.

His eyes turned cold, and he ruthlessly pushed Lin Xihe away from his arms.

Lin Xihe lost her balance and leaned heavily against the side cushion.

Before she could even recover and get up, Mu Ruoyan glared at her and roared, "Stop thinking nonsense! I, Mu Ruoyan, would never stoop to taking liberties with you!"

Mu Ruoyan grew angrier the more he thought about it. He muttered to himself, "There should be a proper way to curse someone. I can accept being called a lecherous scoundrel, but to call me a dog? What kind of nonsense is that?"

"Look at the mess you make! You're as ugly as can be. Even if you offered yourself to me, I wouldn't want to dirty my hands!"

Mu Ruoyan looked disgusted and said sarcastically, "I should have just left you there, so you wouldn't be bothering me with this nonsense!"

However, no matter how much Mu Ruoyan berated her, Lin Xihe remained silent and did not give any response.

She lowered her head, and soon, due to the high fever, she regained her pitiful appearance.

An hour later, Lin Xihe, who had taken the medicine, gradually regained consciousness and found herself lying on a simple couch in the clinic.

She slowly got up, stepped off the bed, and saw Mu Ruoyan sitting upright in the outer room.

Lin Xihe stepped forward and stopped in front of Mu Ruoyan, saying softly, "Young Master Mu, I am fine now, we can leave."

"I'll emphasize it again, I didn't lay a hand on you! Don't look at me like that again!" Mu Ruoyan was still resentful about the previous misunderstanding and said vehemently.

Inside the carriage, after hearing Mu Ruoyan's explanation, Lin Xihe already understood the whole story.

Just recalling their overly intimate actions at the time made her feel awkward, and she really didn't want to bring it up again.

Lin Xihe frowned slightly and said in a calm tone, "I understand. Can we set off now?"

Seeing Lin Xihe's indifferent attitude, Mu Ruoyan's anger surged again.

He had watched over her for a full hour, and she hadn't even uttered a single word of thanks.

He snorted coldly, thinking to himself, "What an ungrateful woman!" He then abruptly stood up, the chair scraping against the floor with a screeching sound, and strode towards the door.

Seeing this, Lin Xihe could only hurry up and jog to catch up.

Even after boarding the carriage, Mu Ruoyan's face remained so gloomy it seemed to drip water.

He sat there, pondering repeatedly what he had done wrong to provoke such strong dislike from Lin Xihe. The more he thought about it, the harder it was for him to quell his resentment.

Without realizing it, he glanced at Lin Xihe, who was sleeping soundly against the car window, and a nameless anger suddenly flared up. He raised his foot to kick the wooden box under her.

But just as he raised his foot high, he froze in mid-air as if he had been frozen in place.

The doctor's words involuntarily surfaced in his mind: Lin Xihe was already weak from days of travel, and had caught a cold yesterday, which caused her to develop a high fever. She should have rested for two days before setting off again, but he knew she would not want to delay.

After struggling for a while, he slowly lowered the raised foot.

Lin Xihe slept soundly for two hours before slowly waking up.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Mu Ruoyan place a tray containing a teapot and teacups in front of her.

"The doctor said you should drink more water," Mu Ruoyan blurted out abruptly.

"Um......?"

This scene surprised Lin Xihe just as much as when she was asked to serve him yesterday.

She was filled with suspicion, wondering to herself, "Could it be that Mu Ruoyan has changed her nature?"

Why are you suddenly being so kind?

Lin Xihe stared at the teapot, lost in thought, unable to understand the reason for Mu Ruoyan's change in attitude.

"Fine, don't drink it then." Seeing that Lin Xihe didn't react for a while, Mu Ruoyan reached out to pull the tray back.

Lin Xihe acted quickly, pressing down on the tray, picking up the teapot, and pouring herself a glass of water.

She held the teacup in both hands, occasionally stealing a glance at Mu Ruoyan. She simply held the cup in her hands, neither drinking nor putting it down.

Lin Xihe secretly wondered to herself, "Mu Ruoyan is acting so strangely, could it be that she put drugs in the water?"

Otherwise, why would they suddenly become so kind?

But then I thought, I've already been punished yesterday, he probably won't hold this against me...

Mu Ruoyan noticed that Lin Xihe was watching her warily, so she held the cup of tea to her lips but hesitated to drink it.

He immediately lost his temper, reached out and snatched the water glass from Lin Xihe's hand, tilted his head back and drank the tea in one gulp.

Then, she glanced coldly at Lin Xihe, and with a "smack," slammed the water glass down next to the teapot, instantly dispelling her suspicions.

Lin Xihe's face flushed, and she awkwardly forced a smile, knowing in her heart that Mu Ruoyan had seen through her suspicions.

However, Mu Ruoyan's act of self-proof was too abnormal, which made Lin Xihe's doubts grow stronger.

She secretly resolved to test him and see just how much Mu Ruoyan would yield to her this time.

After a moment's thought, Lin Xihe reached for the teapot.

Just as she was about to pour the water, she suddenly cried out in pain, and the teapot in her hand fell heavily back down before she could even pick it up steadily.

"What's wrong?"

Mu Ruoyan asked almost subconsciously, her voice carrying a hint of urgency.

Lin Xihe gently rubbed the wrist of the hand holding the teapot, a pitiful expression on her face, and said, "I probably used too much force just now, and my hand suddenly cramped up."

Before she could finish speaking, Mu Ruoyan's hand had already instinctively reached for the teapot, but she still retorted, "You're really useless."

Although he said that, he didn't stop doing it.

Mu Ruoyan took another cup, poured a glass of water, and handed it to Lin Xihe.

Lin Xihe took the teacup and said softly, "Thank you."

Mu Ruoyan seemed to be burned by the "thank you," and immediately turned her head away, no longer looking at her.

A brief silence fell over the carriage. After a long while, he spoke again, his voice devoid of emotion: "What do you plan to do if Gu Qinghuai can't be saved?"

Lin Xihe's heart tightened suddenly, and she became alert instantly, asking in return, "Why did you suddenly say that?"

Mu Ruoyan sneered, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes: "Are you really stupid, or are you just pretending to be confused in front of me?"

"I really don't understand what you're talking about." Lin Xihe feigned ignorance, but her eyes revealed an undisguised wariness.

Seeing her like this, Mu Ruoyan didn't bother to say anything more, and simply said, "Then you can continue to be stupid."

Then, silence fell over the carriage again, with only the dull thud of the wheels rolling on the ground.
