Chapter 143 They Came to Our Door

When Lin Xihe returned, the servants told her that Mu Ruoyan was already waiting for her to have a meal together.

During the meal, Mu Ruoyan was unusually quiet and didn't say much. The atmosphere seemed calm, but there was an underlying sense of oppression.

However, as night fell, the pretense of calm was shattered, and Mu Ruoyan became increasingly domineering, like a surging tide, wantonly plundering.

Under his control, Lin Xihe struggled desperately and begged for mercy repeatedly, but all to no avail.

Lin Xihe knew she was powerless to resist, so she could only do her best to protect her neck, so that Mu Ruoyan would not leave any marks in those obvious places, and so that Gu Qinghuai would not be saddened when he saw them.

Lin Xihe counted down the days, and as Gu Qinghuai's complexion improved day by day, Lin Xihe was filled with anticipation that she could remove the curse from him as soon as possible.

However, removing the curse requires taking one's own heart's blood. Now that Mu Ruoyan spends so much time with her, if he were to suddenly get injured, it would definitely arouse his suspicion, which made Lin Xihe very worried.

A few days later, during a meal, Princess Lingxi of Nanzhao suddenly appeared at their door without any warning.

Princess Lingxi overheard that Mu Ruoyan was riding a horse with a woman through the city, which made her unable to contain herself and come looking for him in a fierce manner.

Princess Lingxi burst into the flower hall, her gaze instantly locking onto Lin Xihe, and she pointed directly at Lin Xihe, demanding, "Who is she?"

Lin Xihe acted as if she hadn't heard anything, continuing to eat without stopping. She thought to herself, "What a coincidence! I was just worried about not having anyone to hurt me, and this princess has delivered herself to my doorstep."

Mu Ruoyan's first reaction was to look at Lin Xihe, only to see that she hadn't even raised her eyelids, as if she didn't care about what was happening in front of her.

He frowned slightly and said to Xu Jiu in a cold voice, "Xu Jiu, can't you even do something as simple as guarding the gate? Go and get your punishment."

Upon hearing this, Xu Jiu immediately knelt down with a thud and bowed his head, replying, "Yes, Third Prince."

Everyone knew in their hearts that Xu Jiu was no match for this willful and unruly little princess. Mu Ruoyan's actions, seemingly to punish Xu Jiu, were actually a slap in the face to Princess Lingxi.

Upon seeing this, Princess Lingxi was immediately enraged. She took a few steps forward, and with a sudden wave of her hand, she knocked all the food on the table to the ground. Plates and chopsticks were scattered all over the floor, making a crisp shattering sound.

Her eyes widened in anger, and she demanded again, "Mu Ruoyan, explain yourself clearly, who exactly is she?"

Lin Xihe put down her chopsticks and looked at Princess Lingxi in front of her with a slightly provocative expression.

She could tell that although Mu Ruoyan was on Nanzhao's territory, he didn't care about Princess Lingxi at all. Princess Lingxi seemed impulsive, and if she used her properly, this little princess in front of her would be her best cover.

"Didn't I tell you that you can't come here without my permission?" Mu Ruoyan casually tossed her chopsticks onto the table and spoke coldly.

Princess Lingxi's emotions were visibly more agitated: "I'm asking you, who is she?"

Lin Xihe remembered that this was a master of poison and Gu poison. She wanted to use her, not die here.

So Lin Xihe got up and walked behind Mu Ruoyan to prevent the little princess from suddenly attacking her.

Mu Ruoyan turned to look at Lin Xihe hiding behind him and chuckled, "Can't you tell she's my woman?"

"Mu Ruoyan, how could you do this? How could you betray me!" Princess Lingxi questioned.

"Betray you? I saved you, and you insist on clinging to me. It's rare to see a woman as shameless as you." Mu Ruoyan was already very unhappy about being disturbed while having her meal with Lin Xihe.

One of their own people unexpectedly rescued Lingxi, who had fallen into a deep pool. This happened after the defeat in the Northern Frontier.

Mu Ruoyan didn't care much about his country's defeat; his lifespan was short, and he had long since become indifferent to such things. However, he was still deeply troubled by the death of his mother. He came to Nanzhao to find the Gu poison that caused unbearable pain, but unexpectedly, after finding the Gu, Gu Qinghuai also delivered himself to his doorstep.

Princess Lingxi merely provided the poison she used to inflict on Gu Qinghuai, yet she continues to cling to her.

Mu Ruoyan hadn't found Lingxi's pestering so annoying before, but after returning this time, he found Lingxi quite a nuisance.

Lin Xihe knew that Mu Ruoyan wasn't good at saying nice things, but she never expected that he would say such things about a woman.

Before she could even think about it further...

Lingxi then threatened, "Mu Ruoyan, how dare you talk to me like that! Don't you know where you are?"

"Oh."

"If you offend me, I will make it impossible for you to move an inch in Nanzhao."

"Go ahead and give it a try," Mu Ruoyan said dismissively.

Upon hearing Mu Ruoyan's words, Lingxi angrily pulled out her soft whip and lashed it at Lin Xihe: "It's because of you that Mu Ruoyan treated me like this."

However, before the whip could strike Lin Xihe, it was blocked by someone next to Mu Ruoyan.

"Lingxi, if you don't want to die, don't mess with my people. Xu Qi stopped your whip this time, which saved your life. If you still don't know what's good for you, don't even think about leaving this door alive next time!" Mu Ruoyan's voice seemed to come from the deepest hell, so cold that it sent chills down one's spine.

Princess Lingxi was usually arrogant and domineering, but she was still young, and today she had few attendants with her. In addition, Diancang Mountain was located in a remote area, far away from the capital. She knew that if she didn't want to lose her life here, she had to leave immediately.

Lin Xihe hid behind Mu Ruoyan, secretly thinking that with Mu Ruoyan's attitude, it would be extremely difficult for her to use Princess Lingxi.
