Lin Xihe's heart was constantly in suspense.
She waited until noon and went to see Gu Qinghuai, only to find that he had developed a high fever and was in a coma.
Lin Xihe hurriedly sent someone to the clinic to get fever-reducing medicine. After the medicine was brewed, she carefully fed it to Gu Qinghuai.
However, by evening, Gu Qinghuai's high fever persisted.
Lin Xihe remembered that Mu Ruoyan had said she wouldn't be back for dinner when she left, so she had someone prepare medicine again.
However, Gu Qinghuai had lost all consciousness by this time and was unable to even swallow the medicine.
After the medicine was brewed, she tried various methods to feed it to Gu Qinghuai, but she was unable to succeed.
Extremely anxious, Lin Xihe searched everywhere and finally found the hollow, thin bamboo tube.
She gently placed Gu Qinghuai's head on her lap, adjusted the angle, and tried to get him to swallow the medicine through the bamboo tube. But each attempt ended in failure, and gradually her eyes filled with tears, and she became more and more helpless.
At this moment, Mu Ruoyan finished her business and hurried back on horseback.
Upon learning that Lin Xihe was still with Gu Qinghuai at this hour, his face instantly darkened, and he strode towards the place where Gu Qinghuai was imprisoned.
Pushing open the door, what came into view was Lin Xihe, her eyes filled with tears, holding Gu Qinghuai tightly in her arms and feeding him medicine.
The moment the door was opened, Lin Xihe was struck dumb, frozen in place, and almost dropped the bamboo tube in her hand.
Before she could react, Mu Ruoyan strode forward, grabbed her arm, and forcibly dragged her away from the place.
Mu Ruoyan didn't say a word throughout, but the chill emanating from him made Lin Xihe shudder.
Back at her residence, Lin Xihe was roughly thrown onto the floor of the room.
Soon, Gu Qinghuai was brought over and was neatly chained to a stool by Mu Ruoyan's servants.
"What are you doing?" Lin Xihe cried out in terror.
"Did I tell you before that Lin Xihe can take care of him, but not have any intimate contact?" Mu Ruoyan's voice was icy cold, revealing a chilling undercurrent.
"He has a fever today, and I'm giving him medicine," Lin Xihe explained anxiously, her voice trembling with tears.
"Does feeding medicine require lying in someone's arms?" Mu Ruoyan sneered, her gaze sharp as a knife.
"It really was just feeding her medicine." Lin Xihe's tears welled up again, and she shook her head desperately, trying to convince Mu Ruoyan.
Mu Ruoyan ignored her and gestured to the servant with her eyes.
The servant stepped forward, forcefully pried open the mouth of the unconscious Gu Qinghuai, and stuffed a strip of cloth into it.
"Mu Ruoyan, he has a fever, what are you going to do?"
Lin Xihe struggled desperately, trying to rush over, but Mu Ruoyan held her tightly, preventing her from moving.
"I gave you a chance, but you didn't respect me at all. Then try it and see what happens when I stop spoiling you." Mu Ruoyan held Lin Xihe tightly, all traces of her former tenderness gone.
Xu Qi and his men poured buckets of cold water over Gu Qinghuai's head.
The first bucket of cold water was poured over her, and Lin Xihe's legs went weak. She knelt on the ground, her hands tightly gripping Mu Ruoyan's clothes. Her voice trembled and she cried out in despair, "I was wrong. I promise I will never touch him again, not even once. Please let him go. He's still sick!"
“You won’t learn to be good like this. I don’t want to teach you again and again; my patience is limited.” Mu Ruoyan’s words were like sharp blades, piercing Lin Xihe’s heart.
One bucket of cold water after another was poured down mercilessly, and Gu Qinghuai's body trembled slightly under the icy impact.
Seeing this, Lin Xihe almost went mad. She grabbed Mu Ruoyan's arm and sobbed, "Young Master Mu, I beg you, I really know I was wrong. Please make them stop. I'll do whatever you say, as long as you let him off this time."
She kept kowtowing, and her forehead quickly became red and swollen, but Mu Ruoyan remained unmoved, as if enveloped in frost, and did not order the servants to stop what they were doing.
Gu Qinghuai's consciousness gradually returned from the chaos, and he slowly woke up.
Seeing this, Mu Ruoyan raised her hand and waved, signaling everyone to step back.
The door was gently closed from the outside, and in the quiet space, Lin Xihe's unease grew stronger.
Gu Qinghuai was tightly bound by iron chains, unable to move. He could only watch silently as Lin Xihe knelt on the ground, constantly pleading. He only hated that he couldn't kill Mu Ruoyan at this moment.
"Young Master Mu, I was wrong. Can you let him go back?" Lin Xihe's voice trembled with pleading.
Mu Ruoyan looked at Gu Qinghuai, who had already opened his eyes, and slowly walked to the bedside and sat down.
"come over."
Lin Xihe didn't hesitate at all. At this moment, she dared not resist in the slightest and was about to get up when Mu Ruoyan suddenly raised her voice and shouted sternly, "Come here on your knees!"
Lin Xihe froze for a moment, then moved forward without hesitation, bending her knees.
Gu Qinghuai watched helplessly as Lin Xihe, whom he cherished, was treated this way, and his anger and heartache overwhelmed him instantly.
He mustered all his strength and struggled desperately, wanting nothing more than to rush over and protect her behind him.
But he was so weak that he could barely hold a chopstick, and every bit of effort made his vision go black.
Inside the room, his struggles caused the chains to clang wildly against the wooden chair, the dull thuds echoing through the deathly silence. He screamed, but only weak, broken breaths escaped his throat, drowned out by the chaotic noise. His body was tightly bound, each act of resistance slamming against an invisible wall in vain.
Lin Xihe didn't even dare to glance at Gu Qinghuai, fearing that her actions would anger the capricious Young Master Mu in front of her.
