Lin Xihe propped herself up and sat up, and Ji Zhuo followed suit.
The rain was indeed heavy, but she was already soaked to the bone and didn't care about anything else at the moment.
Mo Wusheng's carriage was waiting outside. Leaving now was better than making any impulsive decision. She didn't have that much rationality to face Ji Zhuo.
"Ah Zhuo, if I come tomorrow, can I see Tang Bao?"
Lin Xihe stopped mentioning picking up Tangbao; she thought she should see the child first.
Seeing that Ji Zhuo didn't speak, Lin Xihe bit her lower lip, thinking to herself, "Why don't I leave first? Anyway, some things can be discussed tomorrow."
Ji Zhuo's emotions had calmed down considerably, and she felt that if she came again tomorrow, Ji Zhuo should be able to let her in.
Lin Xihe had just put her hands over her head, preparing to rush out in the rain, when Ji Zhuo pulled her back.
Ji Zhuo's voice was exceptionally clear amidst the rain: "Don't you want to see Tang Bao first thing tomorrow morning?"
These words were like a hook, instantly capturing Lin Xihe's heart.
Lin Xihe stopped in her tracks, her face full of hesitation.
“If you leave now, I really won’t let you in tomorrow.” Ji Zhuo said seriously, his tone no longer sharp as before, but it still conveyed a resoluteness that was impossible to ignore.
After saying that, Ji Zhuo ignored Lin Xihe's struggles and picked her up in his arms.
"No, I should go home." Lin Xihe struggled, but her voice sounded so weak in Ji Zhuo's arms.
Ji Zhuo walked straight into the room, and when he reached the bedside, he gently closed the door with his foot.
"You weren't afraid when I was being mean to you, so why are you afraid now?" Ji Zhuo's tone was tinged with helplessness and confusion. They had slept together for so many days before, and she had never resisted like this before. He really didn't understand what she was afraid of.
Lin Xihe missed her daughter, but she was also afraid of losing Ji Zhuo because of her decision. She also needed to ask Ji Zhuo about his attitude. Just as she was hesitating, Ji Zhuo had already placed her by the bedside.
Ji Zhuo turned around, grabbed a handkerchief, and began to wipe her wet hair.
"I'd rather go... go to the tatami..."
Lin Xihe murmured, her voice so soft it was almost inaudible.
“I didn’t before, and I still don’t now. You don’t need to be so wary of me. Why don’t you guard against others?” Ji Zhuo’s tone was tinged with annoyance. He felt that Lin Xihe’s reaction was somewhat unreasonable, and he felt both angry and aggrieved.
Lin Xihe was reprimanded by Ji Zhuo. Although she couldn't see Ji Zhuo's expression in the darkness, she still lowered her head in shame.
She believed that Ji Zhuo would not force her when she did not want to.
Seeing Lin Xihe's state, without explanation or words, Ji Zhuo's anger over what had happened to her in Nanzhao resurfaced.
He was angry with her, but even more afraid of losing her forever, so he could only suppress his anger.
Ji Zhuo roughly dried Lin Xihe's hair until it was half dry, then casually tossed the towel aside and quickly stripped Lin Xihe out of her soaked clothes, leaving her only in her underwear.
"Go to sleep inside. I'll let you see Tang Bao tomorrow."
Ji Zhuo's voice softened slightly. He knew he had just lost his composure, but he simply couldn't control his emotions.
