Chapter 176 Drunken Fight

A quarter of an hour passed quietly, and the maid rushed into the room: "Miss, General Gu and Lord Ji have sent someone to ask for two more jars of wine."

Lin Xihe's eyes widened, her face filled with disbelief, and she raised her voice, saying, "Aren't you...aren't you afraid of getting yourself sick from drinking? Tell them not to give it to you anymore."

The maid looked troubled and stammered, "It's already been sent over..."

"Fine! Let them be." Lin Xihe sighed helplessly, waving her hand as if to shake off her frustration.

Another quarter of an hour passed, but this short time seemed to last an incredibly long time.

The maid rushed in, flustered, and reported, "Miss, something terrible has happened! General Gu and Lord Ji are fighting!"

Lin Xihe suddenly stood up and asked anxiously, "Is anyone injured?"

"Sister Xue said that they fought with their bare hands, so there shouldn't be any serious injuries."

Lin Xihe felt a little relieved, but she was still uneasy. She subconsciously wanted to rush over, but then she thought that if she went, the conflict might become even more intense.

After hesitating for a moment, she gritted her teeth and said, "Let them be."

Time passed slowly, another quarter of an hour, amidst trepidation.

This time, Ling Xue walked in looking exhausted and reported, "Miss, the flower hall has been completely ransacked by them, there's almost nowhere to step. The two gentlemen just left."

Lin Xihe's eyes lit up, and she asked in surprise, "Left? Did you walk out on your own, or were you carried out?"

"They all went out on their own, and the two gentlemen even mounted their horses and left at the same time."

Were they injured?

"I suffered some minor injuries..."

Ling Xue paused, recalling the scene, and couldn't help but say, "The two gentlemen were quite drunk, but their strength was evenly matched. Although they were both staggering, they still fought each other without holding back. However, I find it a bit strange. Lord Gu's fighting prowess is not like this in the past. Could it really be because he drank too much?"

Lin Xihe breathed a sigh of relief. As her tense nerves relaxed, her appetite returned.

"That's good. I was so scared I couldn't even eat. You haven't eaten either, have you? Let's eat together."

"yes."

Ling Xue responded and sat down opposite Lin Xihe, unable to help but complain, "Lord Ji is always so elusive; I never know when he'll suddenly appear."

"It's alright, it's not your fault. Eat quickly, the food is getting cold."

Lin Xihe picked up a piece of chicken and put it in her mouth. She had just chewed a few times when the door was suddenly pushed open with a "bang".

Before she could even swallow the food in her mouth, she saw Ji Zhuo, whom Ling Xue had just said had left, standing unsteadily at the door.

"Why are you here again!"

Lin Xihe stood up instantly, still with a small piece of meat in her mouth, and asked in surprise and anger.

"Why... can't I... come?" Ji Zhuo staggered into the house, his words slurred, clearly drunk and heavily intoxicated.

When Ling Xue heard footsteps outside, she thought it was some maid, never expecting that Ji Zhuo would return.

Looking at Ji Zhuo's appearance, she secretly complained to herself: Her former master was really despicable, actually tricking General Gu into leaving together, and then secretly turning back.

Ling Xue had just picked up her chopsticks and hadn't even had a chance to take a bite of food when she reflexively put them down, stood up quickly, and stood respectfully by the table.

"Go home if you're drunk, don't cause trouble here."

Lin Xihe was furious; she didn't want to see Ji Zhuo in his drunken state for even a second.

However, Ji Zhuo seemed not to hear him. His eyes were unfocused yet fixed on Lin Xihe. He moved forward unsteadily, muttering, "Xi'er..."

No sooner had he finished speaking than he collapsed straight toward Lin Xihe the instant he reached her side.

Lin Xihe had no time to react. Her body instinctively tried to support Ji Zhuo, but Ji Zhuo's weight far exceeded her capacity. She staggered and almost fell.

Fortunately, Ling Xue reacted quickly and stepped forward to support Ji Zhuo beside Lin Xihe.

Lin Xihe felt a surge of anger rush from the soles of her feet to the top of her head; she felt as if her head was about to burst with rage.

Can't we just eat this meal in peace?

She slammed her chopsticks down on the table in anger before reluctantly reaching out to help the unconscious Ji Zhuo.

It took the two of them a great deal of effort to help Ji Zhuo to the bed at the back.

Lin Xihe was still angry and didn't even want to cover him with a blanket. She turned around and pulled Ling Xue back to the dining table.

She was determined to have this meal today, no matter what.

The two had only taken a few bites when they heard Ji Zhuo mumble indistinctly from the bed, "Xi'er..."

"Xi'er... I feel terrible..."

"Xi'er... I feel like throwing up..."

The sound echoed in Lin Xihe's ears like a tight band around her neck.

Lin Xihe forced herself to eat a few more bites, but finally couldn't help but complain to Ling Xue, "Is he crazy?!"

"Yes...right..."

Ling Xue awkwardly agreed, losing her appetite and quickly shoveling down a few mouthfuls before hurriedly ordering someone to prepare a hangover soup.

Helpless, Lin Xihe had no choice but to call other maids to take care of Ji Zhuo.

But Ji Zhuo acted like a spoiled child, half-drunk and half-awake, and set his sights on Lin Xihe, relentlessly following her.

Even worse, he vomited all over the floor outside Lin Xihe's bedroom door.

"Who told you to go to someone else's house to drink? Did I tell you to drink?"

Lin Xihe's face turned red with anger, and she shouted, "Go find the person you were drinking with to take care of you!"

"Sleep on the floor!"

As she spoke, she waved her arms, as if she wanted to throw Ji Zhuo out.

Ji Zhuo, however, seemed not to hear her anger. He looked at her, and suddenly the corners of his mouth turned up, revealing a faint smile.

"What are you laughing at? Have you drunk yourself silly?"

Lin Xihe glared fiercely at Ji Zhuo, her eyes seeming to spit fire.

"Back in Xinghua Village, when I was injured, that's what you said—that you didn't injure me, and that I should go find the person who hurt me to take care of me. You were like that back then too, so lively and playful..."

Ji Zhuo spoke haltingly, his tongue barely able to flow.

Lin Xihe frowned instantly. How could she not understand what Ji Zhuo was trying to say? He clearly meant to call her a shrew!

"So, after all this time, you've finally told me the truth? Back then, if you thought I was a shrew, why did you insist on bringing me to the capital?"

Lin Xihe was both ashamed and angry, her eyes slightly red, and she punched Ji Zhuo hard.

Ji Zhuo winced in pain, his eyebrows furrowing tightly, but he couldn't hide the smile on his lips.
