Mu Ruoyan's eyes were bloodshot, and veins bulged on her forehead as she stared intently at Lin Xihe, roaring, "When I received Xu Qi's letter, I was so angry I almost went crazy! I only asked you for three months, and you agreed so readily then, but as soon as we returned to the capital, you betrayed me. What exactly do you mean by this?"
His chest heaved violently, and his emotions grew increasingly agitated: "I originally thought you genuinely cared about me, but what happened? What did you take our promises for? Was it a game? Was all that concern you showed before just an act?"
"Xu Qi later wrote that you often met with those two people."
Mu Ruoyan sneered, her face full of mockery: "Heh, Lin Xihe, you're really something. You can manipulate two men so well and keep them at peace. You're involved with everyone so effortlessly!"
"And what about me?"
His voice suddenly rose: "What am I to you? Am I just another fish in your pond?"
"The first and only woman I ever fell for is like this? Tell me, isn't that ridiculous?"
Mu Ruoyan grew angrier as she spoke, and she increased the pressure on her hand.
Lin Xihe's eyes reddened with pain, her face contorted in agony, and she cried out in a tearful voice, "It hurts so much..."
"Pain? Isn't it your own fault?"
Mu Ruoyan laughed in anger, flicked her hand, and Lin Xihe staggered backward, almost falling.
Lin Xihe felt fear and instinctively backed away.
Mu Ruoyan pressed closer and closer, and with each step he took, the oppressive feeling around him grew stronger.
Lin Xihe's lower back slammed into the edge of the table, leaving her with nowhere to retreat.
Her face was filled with terror, and her body trembled slightly.
Mu Ruoyan looked down at her, her voice icy: "Why can't you even do it in three months?"
Lin Xihe's throat tightened, and she nervously swallowed, but dared not tell the truth. How could she say that Ji Zhuo had forced her? If Mu Ruoyan found out, she would definitely hold Ji Zhuo accountable.
Seeing that Lin Xihe remained silent, Mu Ruoyan took another step closer.
Lin Xihe gritted her teeth, determined to deny it to the death: "I didn't...."
Before she could finish speaking, Mu Ruoyan suddenly reached out and pressed her shoulder, leaned closer, his face almost touching hers, and asked fiercely, "Nothing?"
"I didn't..." Lin Xihe's voice was so soft it was like a mosquito's buzz, and she quickly lowered her head after speaking.
"Oh--"
Mu Ruoyan let out a mocking laugh: "You're getting bolder and bolder, now you even dare to lie to me?"
Lin Xihe knew that Mu Ruoyan no longer trusted her.
But she still mustered her courage, raised her head, looked directly into Mu Ruoyan's eyes, and stubbornly said, "I just didn't. If you have no evidence, don't talk nonsense!"
“Truly capable! You can lie, but Xu Qi can’t.” Mu Ruoyan stared intently at Lin Xihe, her gaze seemingly able to pierce through her.
Lin Xihe trembled slightly at the gaze, fear spreading through her heart.
But she gritted her teeth, forcing herself to remain calm, refusing to back down an inch: "Why do you say Xu Qi can't lie? He must have misjudged!"
Mu Ruoyan's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smile so cold and indifferent that it sent chills down one's spine. Lin Xihe was momentarily dazed, as if she were in a terrible nightmare.
Immediately afterwards, Mu Ruoyan shouted loudly towards the door, "Xu Qi!"
Just a dozen seconds later, the door creaked open and Xu Qi strode in.
Upon entering, he immediately bowed respectfully: "Your Majesty."
Lin Xihe still remembers that when she walked to the west courtyard, she did not see Xu Qi.
Now it seems that Mu Ruoyan's voice wasn't loud, yet Xu Qi was able to arrive so quickly. He must have been watching nearby and naturally heard what she had just said, blaming him for the mistake.
Xu Qi, who was usually very respectful to her, didn't even glance in Mu Ruoyan's direction at this moment.
Lin Xihe's thoughts were still in disarray when she heard Mu Ruoyan speak lightly: "Miss Lin said you wronged her, so atone for your sins with your death."
As soon as she finished speaking, Mu Ruoyan drew a short knife from her waist and tossed it casually. The knife landed on the ground with a clatter, stopping right in front of Lin Xihe.
Without the slightest hesitation, Xu Qi immediately replied, "Yes."
His tone was as calm as still water. After he finished speaking, he bent down to pick up the dagger from the ground.
Lin Xihe's eyes widened in disbelief. She instinctively squatted down and hugged the short knife to her chest.
She clutched the dagger tightly, feeling utterly bewildered by the master and servant, and wished she could ask them if they were out of their minds!
Upon seeing this, Xu Qi stepped forward and bowed respectfully to Lin Xihe, his voice calm: "Miss Lin, I was blind and misunderstood you. Please grant me the sword."
In his heart, his master's orders were above all else. If his master told him to end his life with this dagger, he would not hesitate at all.
Mu Ruoyan stood quietly to the side, arms crossed, his face expressionless. He simply watched everything without any intention of stopping it, as if he were an uninvolved bystander watching a farce that had nothing to do with him.
"I just misread it, it's nothing...it's okay..."
Lin Xihe lacked confidence, so she tightened the dagger in her arms, afraid that Xu Qi would suddenly come up and snatch it away.
Xu Qi did not react like a normal person would. He clasped his hands in a fist again and repeated, "Please grant me the sword, young lady."
Lin Xihe felt like a million grass mud horses were galloping through her mind. She never expected to encounter such a perverted master and servant.
