Once inside the carriage, Ling Xue's eyes sparkled as she said, "Miss, it's been so long since we went out to eat together. How about we go to Dongpo Restaurant and try their smoked fish?"
"That's fine, of course."
With Xu Qi by her side to protect her, Lin Xihe felt particularly at ease and readily agreed.
"Then this servant will go and show Xu Qi the way."
Ling Xue was overjoyed and quickly sat down outside the car.
The carriage traveled steadily for a while when suddenly, Lin Xihe heard Ling Xue urgently call for it to stop.
Immediately afterward, Ling Xue hurriedly climbed into the carriage and said to Lin Xihe in a flustered manner, "Miss, that person is upstairs."
As she spoke, Ling Xue lifted a corner of the curtain.
Lin Xihe was full of doubts, not understanding why Ling Xue was suddenly so agitated.
Looking in the direction Ling Xue pointed, they saw Mu Ruoyan sitting in a private room of a teahouse.
From Lin Xihe's position, all he could see was a woman sitting opposite him; her face and appearance were completely obscured.
In an instant, Lin Xihe's heart tightened, and an indescribable emotion quietly welled up in her heart. It was like loss, or perhaps relief, but more than that, it was a strange feeling that she couldn't explain and didn't want to delve into.
“Miss, that man really has someone else outside! He even dared to…” Ling Xue’s face turned red with anger. She lowered her voice and muttered indignantly.
Lin Xihe remained calm, gently patted Ling Xue, and reassured her, "I have no relationship with him to begin with. His actions have saved me some trouble."
Even so, her gaze couldn't help but fall on the second floor again.
Mu Ruoyan said something to the woman, and suddenly a smile bloomed on his face. The smile was so bright that Lin Xihe thought back carefully and realized that he rarely smiled so heartily in front of her.
At that moment, Lin Xihe thought that this was for the best. He had found a new emotional outlet, and perhaps he could finally let go of her completely and stop bothering her. On the other hand, a surge of anger quietly rose up. Why could he be so cheerful and talkative in front of others, but always act fierce and menacing when he was with her? He would force her at the slightest provocation. He was a real scoundrel.
Lin Xihe withdrew her gaze, lowered the curtains, and said in a light tone, "That's wonderful. Let's go, I'm in a good mood, let's go get something delicious."
But there was a hint of forced sincerity in her lighthearted tone. Only she knew that the turmoil in her heart had not completely subsided.
Ling Xue then sat back down outside the car.
The group arrived at Dongpo Tower.
Lin Xihe was probably in a really good mood, and she ordered all the restaurant's signature dishes with great enthusiasm.
She didn't distinguish between master and servant, and greeted Xu Qi and Ling Xue. The three of them sat down at a table in a lively atmosphere.
After ordering, Lin Xihe looked at Xu Qi and suddenly asked, "Xu Qi, did you deliberately let me see Mu Ruoyan?"
She couldn't help but ask, wanting to confirm whether Mu Ruoyan's actions were intentionally meant for her.
“Miss, Young Master Yan only told me about going out today, but didn’t tell me his whereabouts,” Xu Qi replied respectfully.
"Alright, then let's just say it was an accident. When you get back, remember to persuade your master not to stay at my house anymore, as it's quite inconvenient."
Lin Xihe secretly pondered that if Mu Ruoyan could really leave, perhaps she could completely let go of this entanglement and prepare for her marriage with Ji Zhuo in peace.
"I will certainly deliver on your instructions, young lady."
After agreeing, Xu Qi said no more.
Next, Lin Xihe and Ling Xue chatted enthusiastically, talking about everything under the sun, their faces beaming with joy.
Lin Xihe tried to immerse herself in the joyful atmosphere and forget the scene she had just witnessed, but the image of Mu Ruoyan and the woman smiling at each other still flashed through her mind from time to time.
After returning to their residence, Lin Xihe and Ling Xue went straight back to their own courtyard.
After Mu Ruoyan's uninvited visit yesterday, Lin Xihe was extra careful today. She carefully locked the door and closed the windows tightly, making sure there were no gaps before climbing into bed.
Whether it was because she had enjoyed herself too much during the day and ate and drank too much, or because she still had some unspeakable complex feelings for Mu Ruoyan, Lin Xihe tossed and turned in bed for a long time until late at night before finally feeling sleepy and drifting off to sleep.
With the doors and windows locked, and knowing that Mu Ruoyan could not possibly reappear, her breathing gradually calmed, and she fell into a deep sleep.
However, just as she finally drifted off to sleep, she felt herself being tightly bound by a powerful and familiar force.
She was unable to move her body.
Lin Xihe frowned slightly in her sleep, a hint of doubt rising in her heart.
The doors and windows of this house are tightly closed, and no one can get in today. Could it be that I'm experiencing sleep paralysis?
She struggled in her daze, slowly opened her eyes, and after adjusting to the dim light, she realized that she was being held tightly in someone's arms again.
Upon closer inspection, the face so close to his was none other than Mu Ruoyan!
She couldn't help but smile bitterly to herself; it was truly a case of what one thinks about during the day manifesting in one's dreams at night.
She was convinced that she was just too worried about Mu Ruoyan sneaking in, which was why she had such an absurd dream.
After all, she had locked the doors and windows tightly before going to bed, and no sound was heard throughout the entire process, so normally no one could have gotten in.
"Why are you awake?"
In her dream, Mu Ruoyan's voice was low and husky, with a hint of allure, as it gently whispered in her ear.
"None of your business! What are you doing in my dream?"
