Mu Ruoyan stared intently at Lin Xihe, who continued eating as if no one else was around; he seemed to have become invisible to her.
Mu Ruoyan couldn't help but wonder: What's this woman up to today? Why is she ignoring me like this?
A moment later, Mu Ruoyan's cold voice broke the silence: "Lin Xihe, you told me to get lost?"
Lin Xihe calmly put down her chopsticks, her expression serene, her tone even yet firm: "That's right, Mu Ruoyan, you should leave. My humble abode simply cannot accommodate someone as important as you."
After saying that, she looked calmly into the distance, deliberately avoiding eye contact with Mu Ruoyan.
Are you angry?
Mu Ruoyan asked tentatively, but inwardly she was wondering why she was the one who should be angry.
"I'm angry? Am I?" Lin Xihe retorted, her tone unintentionally laced with sarcasm.
"You should be angry! What are you angry about? And what does it mean that you told me to get out?" Mu Ruoyan frowned, looking at Lin Xihe with a face full of doubt, unable to understand her thoughts.
Lin Xihe sneered and retorted, "Why would I be angry? You wouldn't know?"
The tone of his voice seemed to be mocking Mu Ruoyan for pretending to be ignorant.
"Just say it."
"What good would it do to tell you? I told you I didn't want to get entangled with you, would you listen to me?"
Lin Xihe's voice was full of exhaustion and helplessness. She was already mentally and physically exhausted from this tug-of-war with Mu Ruoyan, yet she knew she couldn't break free.
"Don't even think about it. Think about something else." Mu Ruoyan said firmly, her tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Lin Xihe sighed helplessly, her eyes filled with exhaustion. She was too lazy to waste any more words with Mu Ruoyan, feeling that saying more would only add to her troubles.
Mu Ruoyan was deeply surprised by Lin Xihe's cold attitude, and a sense of panic inexplicably rose in her heart.
“Um… yesterday I was with that woman…” Mu Ruoyan suddenly began to explain, her voice carrying a hint of awkwardness, like a child caught doing something wrong.
“Young Master Mu, there’s no need to explain to me. What’s there to explain between us? Wasn’t I the one you could bully and bully whenever you wanted?” Lin Xihe said, suddenly raising her head to meet Mu Ruoyan’s gaze.
This time, there was no fear in her eyes, but rather a resolute determination and deep grievance, as if she were releasing all the emotions that had been pent up for a long time.
Mu Ruoyan had come with a vengeful and questioning attitude, but upon seeing her like this, her anger instantly subsided as if doused with cold water.
He suppressed his anger, his voice tinged with helplessness and hurt: "In your heart, is that all I am?"
He was with her, indulged her, yielded to her, broke his own principles, and desperately protected her. Did she turn a blind eye to all of this?
"Young Master Mu seems to have a bad memory. How could you forget something that happened just yesterday?"
Lin Xihe's voice was clearly sarcastic, as if reminding Mu Ruoyan that she remembered everything he had done and could not easily let it go.
The moment yesterday was mentioned, Mu Ruoyan's face darkened instantly, as if a storm was about to break.
"Then tell me, who did you take me for yesterday? Why did you..." Mu Ruoyan paused, her tone filled with barely suppressed chill: "Enjoy it like that?"
Lin Xihe never expected that Mu Ruoyan would bring up that private matter in broad daylight. In an instant, her cheeks seemed to be set on fire, quickly turning a crimson blush, just like the sunset glow on the horizon, bright yet tinged with embarrassment.
Looking at Lin Xihe's flushed face, Mu Ruoyan felt increasingly angry. He felt that the blush was a cruel mockery of him, and the anger he had been suppressing was reignited and burned fiercely in his heart.
"Are you going to drive me crazy before you're satisfied?"
"How dare you say that! Why did you sneak into my room in the middle of the night? My doors and windows were locked tight, how did you get in?" Lin Xihe immediately took the initiative and questioned loudly.
She knew she couldn't afford to lose face in terms of momentum at this moment.
“If you had obediently waited for me in the west courtyard, why would I have gone to pry open your door in the middle of the night?” Mu Ruoyan retorted, his tone carrying a hint of self-righteousness, as if his transgression was entirely Lin Xihe’s fault.
"How can you be so self-righteous? I just can't reason with you!"
Lin Xihe trembled slightly with anger. In her eyes, Mu Ruoyan was like an unyielding rock that could not be communicated with, and there seemed to be a bottomless and insurmountable chasm between them.
"Then who can you reason with?"
Mu Ruoyan's voice grew increasingly sinister: "With Mu Ruoyan? With Ji Zhuo? They both dote on you so much, so I have to learn to coax you like they do in order to gain a place in your heart? In order to be able to communicate with you?"
Mu Ruoyan's voice unconsciously rose, and a strong sense of jealousy instantly filled the entire flower hall.
In his eyes, Lin Xihe was always gentle and kind to others, but when facing him, she was always so cold and resistant. She would only pretend to be gentle when she wanted something from him. How could this not make him jealous and furious?
Lin Xihe gritted her teeth, her anger completely ignited by Mu Ruoyan's words.
She just wanted him to leave, to sever ties with him. The thing she least wanted people to mention was her relationship with those two. She knew how things had gotten to this point, but she wouldn't allow Mu Ruoyan to say more.
Moreover, he once again flew into a rage at her and made such unreasonable accusations. She could no longer bear it and immediately retorted loudly, "Can you be like them?"
