Mu Ruoyan flipped over and pinned Lin Xihe down once more. His gaze was fixed on her; he wanted to look at her and hear her say the words he had been longing to hear.
"I……"
Lin Xihe opened her mouth slightly, but her voice seemed to be choked by something and stopped abruptly.
"Hmm?" Mu Ruoyan responded softly, her "hmm" filled with anticipation.
Lin Xihe really didn't want to face Mu Ruoyan's question at this moment, so she could only quickly change the subject: "Can I tell Ji Zhuo about these things between you and me myself?"
Upon hearing Lin Xihe's words, Mu Ruoyan's eyes, which had been shining with anticipation and fervor, seemed to be blown away by a cold wind, gradually dimming and being replaced by deep disappointment.
"Do you really not have me at all in your heart?"
The two remained locked in a stalemate, each speaking their own words.
They stared intently at each other, their eyes filled with determination.
Unable to bear such a scorching and intimidating gaze, Lin Xihe slowly turned her head away, choosing to remain silent, as if the surrounding air had frozen.
After a brief standoff, Mu Ruoyan finally sighed. He knew that forcing her now would be futile; some things had to be done slowly.
He slowly lay back on the bed and said softly, "I will be leaving this place in a month. When that time comes, you will come with me."
"Um."
Lin Xihe agreed readily. She knew in her heart that once she agreed to Mu Ruoyan's request, there was no room for maneuver, and she dared not even dream of staying any longer.
Seeing Lin Xihe's obedient and docile demeanor, Mu Ruoyan's heart softened, and her tone became gentler: "In a few days, I'll arrange for him to return, and you can see him then. Just remember, don't let things linger, understand?"
Lin Xihe nodded slightly, not caring whether Mu Ruoyan saw the gesture.
"I'm going back to my residence now."
As Lin Xihe spoke, she was about to get up.
"You're just going to take advantage of me and leave?" Mu Ruoyan asked, her face full of surprise, her words tinged with a hint of teasing.
"It's broad daylight, I can't just stay in your bed forever," Lin Xihe said, quickly pulling the blanket tighter around herself and getting up to walk towards her clothes.
Why not?
Mu Ruoyan was not about to let him go so easily. She reached out and pulled him back into her arms, whispering, "It's not enough, I want more."
Lin Xihe did not return to the Lin residence until nightfall.
Although she was said to have been sent back, in reality, Mu Ruoyan shamelessly followed him all the way to the Lin residence and moved into the west courtyard.
As soon as Lin Xihe stepped into her courtyard, she weakly called for Ling Xue.
"Ling Xue, go to the Ji residence and tell Madam Ji that Ji Zhuo will be back within ten days." After saying this, she leaned wearily against the soft couch, her eyes full of weariness.
"Yes, young lady, please rest well. Do you need a bath?"
Ling Xue looked at the ambiguous marks on her young lady's neck and immediately understood what had just happened.
"No need. These next few days, don't let anyone else into the courtyard to serve you except for you."
"Yes, Miss. Then this servant will go right away." Ling Xue replied and turned to leave.
"Ling Xue".
Lin Xihe suddenly spoke up, stopping her.
"Is there anything else you need, young lady?"
"Tell Madam Ji to stop preparing for the wedding for now..." Lin Xihe's voice was low, with a hint of undisguised bitterness.
“Miss…” Ling Xue hesitated, feeling helpless, but could only agree and turn to leave.
Lin Xihe lay on the bed, her mind filled with thoughts, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.
The wedding, which should have gone smoothly, has now turned into a dream, and everything feels so powerless. The thought of hurting Ji Zhuo in the future makes her heart clench as if gripped by an invisible hand, and she can no longer suppress her sorrow.
The night grew deeper.
When Mu Ruoyan tiptoed into Lin Xihe's room, Lin Xihe was already fast asleep.
He quietly approached the bedside and carefully pulled her into his arms.
Lin Xihe sensed something amiss in her sleep, slowly woke up, and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, "Why are you here?"
"Go back to sleep, I just want to hold you like this." Mu Ruoyan held her tightly, his voice full of tenderness.
He reached out and gently brushed the messy strands of hair from her face, then wiped away the remaining dampness from her cheeks.
"You shed tears for me a few days ago, and these past few days you've been heartbroken for him. Lin Xihe, if you don't harden your heart and make a clean break, you'll only suffer in the future. But no matter what, I will never let go, do you understand?"
Mu Ruoyan leaned down slightly, her voice coming softly from above Lin Xihe's head.
"You came here a few days ago too?" Lin Xihe asked with a hint of doubt.
“Xu Qi told me you looked like you had been crying, and I was worried about you, so I came to see you twice in the middle of the night. It was because I knew you also had feelings for me that I was willing to back down for the time being. And that’s why I was able to come to see you calmly today. Otherwise, with my personality, if I had been more forceful, you would have belonged to me long ago.”
"Then why did you insist on asking me today..." Lin Xihe murmured.
"I want to hear you say it yourself, that you have me in your heart." Mu Ruoyan said, lowering her head and gently kissing Lin Xihe's forehead.
He was filled with anticipation, hoping that she would say the words he had longed for day and night.
"Mu Ruoyan..." Lin Xihe called softly.
In an instant, Mu Ruoyan trembled with excitement. Was she finally going to speak?
He eagerly awaited her acknowledgment of her love for him, and that she would recognize his place in her heart.
"I'm here, go ahead and say it." Mu Ruoyan's voice trembled slightly, unable to hide her nervousness and anticipation.
