Chapter 214 Encounter

Lin Xihe felt that everything had happened too suddenly, and she was in a daze.

Ji Zhuo held her tightly, his strong arms like iron hoops, making it almost impossible for her to breathe, but she seemed completely unaware, only murmuring, "Zhuo... you're alright... I'm so glad you're alright."

Lin Xihe's voice was filled with the relief of surviving a disaster.

"Lang Yue's news must have terrified you. After I jumped off the cliff, I was rescued by some passersby. I'm fine, don't be afraid," Ji Zhuo quickly reassured him softly.

Lin Xihe keenly sensed from Ji Zhuo's tone that he was completely unaware that the person who saved him was actually one of Mu Ruoyan's subordinates.

She was torn at that moment. She longed to reach out and hug Ji Zhuo back, but the thought of what had happened with Mu Ruoyan a few days ago caused her a sharp pain in her heart.

She couldn't help but let her imagination run wild. If Ji Zhuo knew everything, would he think she had become filthy?

Thinking this, she slowly raised her hand, but her arm felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, and it remained frozen in mid-air. In the end, she failed to land on Ji Zhuo's back and just stood there awkwardly.

At this moment, Ji Zhuo finally noticed something was wrong.

He clearly saw the joy in Lin Xihe's eyes as if she had just seen him, but beneath that joy seemed to lie a deep sense of apology and a lingering sadness that she could not shake off.

What exactly is making her sad?

A sense of foreboding welled up in Ji Zhuo's heart, and he subconsciously hugged Lin Xihe tighter, asking softly, "Xi'er, what happened?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he heard a very faint sound, as if a feather had gently drifted down.

Immediately afterwards, a very light footstep was heard in the courtyard.

In that instant, Ji Zhuo reacted extremely quickly, turning around swiftly to firmly protect Lin Xihe behind him.

Looking up, I saw a man in white standing in a corner of the courtyard.

The moonlight shone on him, as if draping him in a layer of cool, silvery gauze.

"Who are you?"

Ji Zhuo didn't fully notice until the person's footsteps clearly landed in the courtyard.

He felt a chill run down his spine. Judging from this person's ability to conceal himself so silently, he knew that his martial arts skills were unfathomable. Ji Zhuo instantly tensed up, his muscles taut, like a cheetah poised to pounce, cautiously preparing to fight at any moment.

As soon as Lin Xihe steadied herself, she subconsciously looked towards the direction of the courtyard.

When she saw who it was, her heart sank. Who else could it be but Mu Ruoyan?

Mu Ruoyan's eyes were icy cold, like the dark light at the bottom of a cold pool. She glanced at Ji Zhuo briefly before fixing her gaze on Lin Xihe.

When he saw Lin Xihe in her wedding dress, his eyes instantly turned even more sinister, and he seemed to exude a chilling aura.

“Mu… Mu…”

Lin Xihe's lips trembled, and she could barely speak. She had seen Mu Ruoyan before he killed someone, and now, he clearly looked as if he had murderous intent.

Ji Zhuo turned to the side and caught a glimpse of Lin Xihe's gaze fixed on Mu Ruoyan. His body trembled slightly with fear.

"Xi'er, who is he?" Ji Zhuo couldn't help but ask, his voice filled with urgency and wariness.

Lin Xihe swallowed hard, opened her mouth, but couldn't make a sound.

She was filled with fear, afraid that if she opened her mouth, Mu Ruoyan would kill Ji Zhuo on the spot.

Ji Zhuo didn't receive a reply from Lin Xihe, but instead heard the man opposite him speak, his tone cold and unquestionable: "Come here!"

Lin Xihe didn't even dare to glance at Ji Zhuo out of the corner of her eye. She knew that Mu Ruoyan must have seen Ji Zhuo hugging her, and he was furious at the moment.

"I told you to come here!"

Mu Ruoyan spoke again, her voice seemingly coming from the deepest hell, carrying endless chill and savagery, even more terrifying than the roar of a demon.

Lin Xihe trembled, but dared not hesitate any longer.

She had just lifted her foot to take a step forward when her wrist was suddenly tightened, held firmly by Ji Zhuo.

Just as Ji Zhuo grabbed Lin Xihe's hand, a sharp, urgent sound pierced the night sky as Mu Ruoyan drew her soft sword from her waist.

Lin Xihe's mind went blank for a moment. Before she could react, a flash of cold light appeared, and Mu Ruoyan's sword, like a viper's tongue, was aimed straight at Ji Zhuo's throat.

Ji Zhuo's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.

He had roamed the martial world for many years, but he had never seen anyone move so swiftly, like a black lightning bolt, so fast that it was dazzling.

In the face of life and death, he didn't hesitate. He forcefully pushed Lin Xihe away, turned around, drew his sword from his waist, and hastily engaged in battle.

However, Ji Zhuo was powerless to fight back against Mu Ruoyan's ghostly sword moves.

All his movements were futile defenses; he could only barely withstand wave after wave of attacks by relying on his years of combat experience.

Lin Xihe was extremely anxious, knowing full well that Ji Zhuo was no match for Mu Ruoyan.

Even Gu Qinghuai, who was highly skilled in martial arts, was defeated by Mu Ruoyan.

At this moment, Mu Ruoyan showed no mercy, each sword strike carrying a deadly aura.

Ji Zhuo was overwhelmed and quickly became exhausted. He was hit by a series of blows and took several kicks from Mu Ruoyan. He staggered backward.

The sounds of fighting alerted Ling Xue, who rushed over.

But as soon as she appeared, Lin Xihe caught sight of her and anxiously shouted, "Ling Xue, don't come any closer!"

She was filled with worry, fearing that Mu Ruoyan's overwhelming rage would affect the innocent.

Ling Xue dared not disobey and could only stand there.
