Chapter 220 Misunderstanding

Mu Ruoyan was indeed thoroughly enraged by Lin Xihe's unyielding attitude.

He stared intently into her eyes and caught an unprecedented look of disgust and mockery.

His thoughts instantly drifted back to not long ago, to how intimate she was with Ji Zhuo, and how she dismissed him with a few sweet words.

But why is she so bold now? How dare she look at me like that?

Mu Ruoyan's anger surged to its peak in an instant.

He suddenly reached out and gripped Lin Xihe's chin tightly, his fingers pressing down as if he wanted to crush her bones. His face grew increasingly gloomy, and his voice was low and suppressed: "I didn't come here to argue with you."

Lin Xihe stared straight at him without fear, her mockery growing even stronger.

However, this is more of a mockery of one's own naiveté.

She laughed, realizing she had ultimately overestimated herself.

A slight, mocking smile played on her lips as she coldly said, "You summoned me here just to satisfy your lust?"

In her heart, from the moment she met Xu Jiu, she was certain that Mu Ruoyan was not sincere towards her. He had many other women and was just using her as a tool for sexual gratification.

All that so-called warmth before was probably just an act.

If he can treat himself this way, he can certainly treat others this way too.

Mu Ruoyan felt a wave of dizziness. In a daze, he wondered if he had really drunk too much and had misheard.

"But, Mu Ruoyan, please don't touch me anymore. Touching me only makes me feel disgusted." Lin Xihe said these words one by one, her voice clear yet chilling.

Mu Ruoyan was finally certain that she hadn't misheard, and a surge of indescribable anger and shock welled up inside her.

"Would it disgust you if I touched you?" Mu Ruoyan asked through gritted teeth, each word seemingly squeezed out from between her teeth, filled with boundless anger.

At this moment, Lin Xihe's mind was filled with images of Mu Ruoyan being intimate with the woman in his mansion. She thought about all sorts of things that might have happened between the two of them. When she saw Mu Ruoyan's hand, which might have just touched someone else, now pinching her face, her disgust surged and her expression of loathing became more and more obvious, almost overflowing.

“Yes, I feel disgusted even when your hand touches me!” she said without hesitation, her tone resolute and without a trace of doubt.

Mu Ruoyan assumed that Lin Xihe was so resistant to his touch because she had just met Ji Zhuo and was determined to remain chaste for him.

Thinking of this, Mu Ruoyan felt a raging fire burning wildly in his heart, causing his internal organs to ache faintly.

"You feel disgusted now? Why didn't you feel disgusted when you were under me? Can you honestly say you weren't tempted back then?" He glared at him and demanded loudly, his voice tinged with hysteria.

"Fluttering in my heart? For you?!"

Lin Xihe felt a surge of anger rush to her head, and the more she spoke, the angrier she became.

Having known each other for a long time, they were somewhat aware of each other's pain points, so every word they uttered was like a sharp blade, piercing straight into each other's hearts.

"I have never been attracted to you, Mu Ruoyan. Our relationship was nothing more than a transaction. I fulfilled my promise, and you fulfilled yours. Apart from that, there was not a single trace of affection between us." She looked directly into Mu Ruoyan's eyes without flinching, her voice firm and resolute.

Say it again!

Mu Ruoyan was clearly furious; his jaw was trembling slightly with anger.

He never imagined that she would go to the Liu residence specifically to say such hurtful things.

It wasn't uncommon for Mu Ruoyan to be this angry. As a person in a high position, he naturally couldn't tolerate the slightest disobedience, but Lin Xihe was going all out today.

She no longer wanted to be controlled by him, having his chin pinched at the drop of a hat, for the rest of her life.

So she grabbed Mu Ruoyan's hand and pressed it hard against her neck.

Her gaze was unwavering as she stared straight at him and said, word by word, "I have absolutely no feelings for you."

"Are you courting death? Lin Xihe, you can't be with Ji Zhuo, so you want to die?" Mu Ruoyan suppressed her anger, her voice low and restrained.

In his eyes, given Lin Xihe's personality, she would never rashly provoke him.

Even if she really thought that way, she would never say it out loud.

Is she saying this only because she can't be with Ji Zhuo, and that's why she's so desperate?

At this moment, Mu Ruoyan felt that she was so pathetic.

Upon learning that she had gone to the Liu residence to look for him, Mu Ruoyan could only barely suppress his inner impulse for the time it takes for an incense stick to burn.

He abandoned the doctor who was trying to detoxify him and chased after him without hesitation.

He thought that perhaps Lin Xihe was really just saying goodbye to Ji Zhuo, and that he had misunderstood.

That's why she took the initiative to go to the Liu residence to explain.

He thought that any man would be angry at such a scene. His anger was understandable.

But when she came specifically to find him, his anger instantly crumbled.

He initially avoided her because he wanted her to know that he also had a temper and needed to be comforted. He wanted Lin Xihe to understand that his heart could also ache, and that he could also feel anxious and insecure because of her every move.

Unexpectedly, Lin Xihe left without hesitation, without even a trace of lingering affection.

He regretted not coming out to see her then, but then he thought, if he was so good-tempered and so easy to coax, what would happen if she continued to associate with Ji Zhuo?

He was driven mad by jealousy; it felt like something was gripping his heart so tightly that he could barely breathe.

He wanted her to care about him a little more, even if it was just a tiny bit.

So he decided to stay angry for a while, leave her hanging, and let her reflect on her actions.

However, he couldn't suppress the urge to see her.

He took a cold shower in an attempt to calm himself down, but it didn't work.

The icy water poured over him couldn't quell the anxiety in his heart. So, he decided to drink more and get himself drunk. Surely, if he was drunk, he wouldn't be so pathetic as to come looking for her again, right?

He drank jar after jar, until he was so drunk he could barely walk, but he still came over as if possessed.

His steps faltered, but he had only one thought in his mind—he wanted to see her, even if it was just for a glance.

But why did she treat him like that?

It felt as if something had ripped his heart apart, the pain so intense he could barely stand.

He had clearly let go of all his pride and defenses, wanting only to get a little closer to her, and then a little closer still. But her words were like a sharp knife, piercing straight into his heart, making it difficult for him to even breathe.

He looked at her, his eyes filled with grievance and sadness, his voice so low it was almost inaudible: "Lin Xihe, do you hate me that much? So much that even touching you makes me feel disgusted?"
