Lin Xihe's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately thought of running back to bed and pretending that nothing had happened.

Lin Xihe's heart pounded in her chest. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to calm herself down. However, the conversation she had just overheard kept swirling and echoing in her mind.
"Murder," "Leave no one alive," "Send them back to their homes"—these bloody and cruel words were like sharp thorns, deeply piercing her consciousness, sending a chill down her spine and making her tremble uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a terrible thought flashed through her mind like lightning.
She thought that Ji Zhuo's usual gentleness, thoughtfulness and care in front of her were probably all an act.

"What did you hear? I just heard you talking to someone outside. What were you saying? How could I hear you from so far away? What did you do that you're afraid someone will hear?"
Lin Xihe kept encouraging herself, telling herself that no matter how weak she felt inside, she must not lose in terms of momentum and must pretend to be completely unaware.
"Didn't you hear me? Then why are you panicking now?"
Ji Zhuo's question was meant to be one of concern, but to Lin Xihe, who was easily on edge, it sounded like every word was a subtle provocation, an attempt to force her to comply.
"You... how come you seem to be in the right? Do you remember who you are?" Lin Xihe asked, trying to remain calm.
Seeing Lin Xihe like this, Ji Zhuo slowly got up and sat down in front of Lin Xihe.
