Chapter 30 Cold Attitude Raises Suspicion

"Let go! I can't breathe." Lin Xihe pushed Ji Zhuo away with all her might.

With a heart full of reluctance, Ji Zhuo slowly moved away from Lin Xihe's lips: "Can't you be affectionate with me while you're breathing?"

"No, I won't. Go back over there!" Lin Xihe pointed to another bed.

Although Ji Zhuo still felt unsatisfied, seeing Lin Xihe's flushed face, he finally obeyed her and turned back to his own bed.

After lying down, he reached out and extinguished the candle.

In the darkness, both of them kept their eyes wide open, showing no signs of sleepiness.

"Aren't you even a little curious about my identity?" Ji Zhuo finally couldn't hold back and broke the silence first.

Lin Xihe already knew that Ji Zhuo had regained his memory when she overheard his conversation with his subordinates. As for whether he had never lost his memory in the first place or had just regained it, she had no interest in finding out at the moment.

“If you want to say it, then say it yourself,” Lin Xihe replied in a flat tone.

Upon hearing this cold tone, Ji Zhuo couldn't help but ask, "Are you blaming me for hiding something from me?"

Lin Xihe remained silent.

Ji Zhuo then explained to himself, "When you saved me, I was being chased. At first, I just wanted to find an excuse to stay and recover from my injuries. Later, I didn't tell you because I was afraid that you would be afraid if you knew these things."

Lin Xihe replied perfunctorily, "I know, I'm tired."

Ji Zhuo immediately became anxious: "Don't you want to know my name? My age? Where I'm from? What is my identity?"

Lin Xihe secretly pondered to herself that she already knew.

But she still opened her mouth and asked, "Can you tell me?"

"My name is Ji Zhuo, I am twenty-one years old, and I am from the capital. I serve as the Censor-in-Chief."

Initially, Ji Zhuo held the position of Second-Rank Imperial Censor, but within a short year, he rose through the ranks to become Grand Tutor and eventually the Grand Secretary, wielding immense power.

However, Lin Xihe quickly suppressed her curiosity and warned herself not to ask too many questions.

Ultimately, they both ended up in the same place, albeit by different paths.

"I understand."

Upon hearing Lin Xihe's icy response, Ji Zhuo felt as if he had been doused with a bucket of freezing water, his enthusiasm instantly extinguished.

He thought to himself that she must have heard about his previous deception and was angry, which was why she was ignoring him like this.

Ji Zhuo recalled how his father had coaxed his mother in the past, and he was convinced that the only way to break the deadlock was to take the initiative to approach her.

So, he came up with a plan. He pretended to be casual and suddenly exerted force with his hand. The door panel beneath him, which was not very sturdy to begin with, snapped cleanly in two with a "crack" under his deliberate force.

Caught off guard, he fell heavily to the ground, making a rather loud noise.

Hearing the sudden sound, Lin Xihe's heart skipped a beat: "Are you hurt? How could this door panel suddenly break?"

"You always buy cheap, low-quality stuff, no wonder you're always like this. Ouch, my back." Ji Zhuo frowned, clutching his back tightly with both hands, muttering to himself, while secretly glancing at Lin Xihe out of the corner of his eye, watching her movements.

Upon hearing Ji Zhuo's cry of pain, Lin Xihe quickly got out of bed, helped Ji Zhuo up, and then lit a candle.

His gaze swept over the "bed" that had collapsed beyond recognition, and he knew in his heart that the door panel was completely ruined, but he still couldn't help but complain: "Have you been eating and sleeping too much all the time, making yourself so fat and strong that you even broke the door panel under your weight?"

"Ouch, my back!" Ji Zhuo pretended to be in pain, groaning and moaning incessantly.

"Does it hurt a lot?" Lin Xihe asked, somewhat speechless, seeing his expression.

"It hurts, quickly help me lie down."

Lin Xihe helped Ji Zhuo settle on her bed and said, "I also have some medicine for sprains. I'll go get some for you to apply."

"Thank you, He'er." Ji Zhuo's lips curled up slightly, his eyes full of triumphant smiles.

"He, my foot! That's such a cheesy way to address someone." Lin Xihe complained with a look of disgust as she rummaged through the medicine box for medicine.

"Then shall I call you Xi'er?" Ji Zhuo asked tentatively in a soft voice, his eyes fixed intently on Lin Xihe.

"I think you're not in pain anymore." Lin Xihe glared at him fiercely, her hands moving without stopping as she lifted Ji Zhuo's clothes at the lower back, casually pressing a spot on his waist, and asked, "Does it hurt here?"

"It hurts," Ji Zhuo replied, feigning discomfort.

What about here?

Lin Xihe changed positions and continued pressing.

"It hurts too."

"And what about here?"

"Ouch! It hurts terribly here." Ji Zhuo deliberately exaggerated his pain, but his eyes never left Lin Xihe's face.

"You fell from such a low height and got hurt like this? You've probably wasted your time learning martial arts." Lin Xihe continued to be sarcastic, but her movements became increasingly gentle, as if afraid that the slightest force would worsen his "injury."

When her cool fingertips gently touched Ji Zhuo's back, Ji Zhuo felt a warm current surge from the bottom of his heart, instantly spreading throughout his body. He felt extremely hot, and his heart pounded like a deer.

You can't let your crush touch you indiscriminately; it could easily lead to something going wrong.

"Stop applying it. I feel much better."

"It's not applied here yet," Lin Xihe said.

"No need, it's too cold, I can't stand it." After saying that, Ji Zhuo hurriedly pulled his clothes over himself, turned over and lay down.

He secretly rejoiced, now he could finally sleep next to her legitimately.
