Suddenly, Ji Zhuo's eyes sharpened, as if a cold glint had appeared. He lowered his voice and said, "There are people outside, a large number of them."
Upon hearing this, Lang Feng and Lang Yue instantly straightened up, drew their swords without hesitation, gripped them tightly, and focused intently on the direction of the doors and windows, preparing for battle.
"Xi'er, don't be afraid."
Ji Zhuo turned his head to look at Lin Xihe. Although his gaze was firm, it also contained a trace of worry as he tried to soothe her flustered emotions.
"I'll try, but I'll probably still be scared." Lin Xihe's voice trembled slightly. She tried to calm herself down, but her body unconsciously leaned closer to Ji Zhuo, and her hands subconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes.
The three quickly went on guard, but the next moment, countless arrows rained down through the window, their sharp cries echoing through the air and making their eardrums ache.
The three of them immediately brandished their swords, quickly deflecting the arrows aimed at them. In an instant, the room was filled with the clash of swords and the clanging of arrows striking the blades.
Immediately afterward, dark figures burst through the windows during the lull in the rain of arrows, while terrified screams rang out from outside, plunging the entire scene into chaos.
"Langfeng, go to that room."
Ji Zhuo gave a loud order. He knew that Sun Ningxiang had saved Lin Xihe, and these people were obviously after him. The innocent people had also been implicated. He could protect as many as possible.
Ji Zhuo held Lin Xihe tightly with one hand and brandished his sword with the other, fighting against several men in black. Surprisingly, he managed to gain the upper hand in the melee.
But those men in black seemed endless; as soon as one group was defeated, another surged up.
At this moment, the room was filled with a strong smell of blood, and the pungent odor permeated every corner.
Looking at the horrific scene before her, Lin Xihe gritted her teeth, picked up a long knife from the ground, gripped it tightly with both hands, and slashed wildly with her eyes closed whenever anyone approached.
Fortunately, Ji Zhuo protected her very well, and three groups of people came in succession, but none of them were able to get close to her.
But as time went on, more and more people came, and Ji Zhuo gradually became overwhelmed. He suffered several more knife wounds, and blood kept seeping out, staining his clothes red.
Just then, more than a dozen people rushed in from outside the courtyard. Ji Zhuo's hand, which was holding the sword, began to tremble uncontrollably due to exhaustion and pain, but his eyes remained fierce as he stared intently at the enemies who kept surging forward.
"Xi'er, there are still many people outside the courtyard. I'll hold them off for a bit, and you can take the opportunity to escape. Don't look back, and run as far away as possible."
Ji Zhuo lowered his voice and said with an undeniable determination, he knew that if things continued like this, probably no one would be able to escape. As long as Lin Xihe could leave safely, everything would be worth it.
"Don't say that. If you die, I will surely die too, Ah Zhuo. If you feel you are about to die, give me a stab. Don't let me fall into their hands, okay?" Lin Xihe looked outside warily while looking at the severed limbs scattered in the room. Her face was pale, and she was almost scared to death.
Lin Xihe suddenly realized that she had already completed the first stage of the mission, and that she might be able to go back if she died.
But now, looking at Ji Zhuo covered in blood, how could she bear to leave him like this?
"Ah Zhuo, if you don't care about me, what are your chances of escaping with Lang Yue?" Lin Xihe's voice was trembling with tears. She desperately hoped that Ji Zhuo could have a chance to survive.
"Be good, since you don't want to leave, then don't talk. Take that knife and hide in the closet." Ji Zhuo coaxed her softly, trying to settle her in a relatively safe place before the dark shadows outside got close again.
Lin Xihe knew in her heart that she could no longer be willful and could not become a burden to Ji Zhuo, so she immediately obeyed and carefully hid in the cabinet with the knife, nervously watching the movements outside through the gaps in the cabinet.
Just as Lin Xihe hid inside the closet, the footsteps outside grew louder and louder, each step feeling like a heavy stomp on her heart.
Soon, the sounds of fierce fighting rang out again outside. The clanging of swords, the roars of men, and the screams of men were all intertwined and never stopped.
She covered her mouth tightly, afraid of making the slightest sound.
After an unknown amount of time, the chilling sound gradually subsided.
At that moment, a mocking sneer came from outside: "Lord Ji, you recovered so quickly from such a serious injury?"
"Qin Mu, you didn't show up when your whole family was executed, but now you dare to show your face?" Ji Zhuo's voice was filled with undisguised disgust, as if he wanted to tear the person in front of him to pieces.
"So what? As long as I can make a comeback, I will definitely avenge them."
The man named Qin Mu replied in a low voice, his tone revealing a sinister and resolute tone.
"Revenge? You think you can take it?" Ji Zhuo scoffed, clearly dismissing his words.
"You don't think that I was the only one who could hunt you down twice, do you? I'm not the only one who wants to destroy your Ji family." Qin Mu's voice echoed in the silent air.
"Enough with the nonsense, come at me if you dare!" Ji Zhuo shouted, gripping his sword tighter, ready for battle.
"Ji Zhuo, don't worry if you die here today. Your parents will soon be down to join you." Qin Mu's words were like a sharp blade, piercing straight into Ji Zhuo's heart.
"You dare touch my parents? Do you think you can just get close to them as you please?"
