Chapter 4 Enduring Humiliation to Sell Gems

"Oh no, oh no, I don't even recognize the number two anymore."

"I'm really dumbfounded. What am I going to do about my money... what am I going to do about my drugs..." Lin Xihe paced back and forth in the room anxiously, muttering to herself.

"You stupid idiot!"

As she spoke, she was still angry, so she walked over and punched Ji Zhuo's arm with her fist, and she did so with quite a bit of force.

Ji Zhuo sneered inwardly, but instantly switched to a wronged expression on his face, secretly spitting, "This country bumpkin is so reckless!"

But he hissed and cried out in pain, his brows furrowed, his features contorted in agony, clutching his arm, and raising his eyes to glare coldly at Lin Xihe, his gaze conveying a chill and displeasure, as if silently accusing this unprovoked violence.

Seeing his pitiful state, Lin Xihe, though still angry, temporarily abandoned her idea of beating him, though her chest still heaved violently with rage.

"Why did you hit me?" Ji Zhuo raised an eyebrow and questioned in a cold voice, his tone carrying a hint of ruthlessness, as if he were a proud young master who had been offended and would not tolerate such humiliation even if he was disheveled and injured.

"Hit you? That's too lenient. I'd rather sell you to a brothel!" Lin Xihe's little fist swung in the air again, as if to smash it, but in the end she didn't actually bring it down. She just stomped her foot hard: "My money, all gone down the drain, all because of you, you unlucky thing!"

Lin Xihe was filled with frustration, muttering to herself as she dragged out the words, "The wind and snow have oppressed me for two or three years..." Her tone was as mournful as an old actor complaining.

"Sigh! That adds up to five years. When will I ever have any money...?"

He felt a growing panic, wondering why this girl was so "evil," acting completely unpredictably. He wanted to run away, but he couldn't move at all. Was he really going to be "tortured" here forever?

I need to find a way to appease her, yes, get closer to her!

"Aren't you my wife? Is that why you hit me like this?" Ji Zhuo asked with a frown, his tone carrying a hint of grievance, as if he really thought it was normal for a wife to hit her husband.

"Wife? You're kidding me! Wife? Even if I were your mother, I could never be your wife!" Upon hearing this, Lin Xihe was so angry that she almost jumped up on the spot. She stood up with a "whoosh" and kicked the sword on the ground far away.

Seeing this, Ji Zhuo frowned slightly, his gaze instantly turning icy cold. He subconsciously clenched his fists, inwardly annoyed: "This stupid woman, how dare she treat my sword so badly! She's been with me for five or six years, how can I allow her to act so recklessly!"

Why did you kick it?

"Or should I kick you?"

Ji Zhuo sneered inwardly, thinking to himself that he was now seriously injured and needed to recuperate in this cold cave-like place in order to regain his strength.

If he could endure the village girl's punches and kicks, what did it matter if Jian suffered a little grievance?

Thinking this, the clenched fist seemed to lose its strength and slowly loosened, the movement restrained and patient, as if taming the resentment and anger in its heart, a dark light flashing in its cold eyes.

Just as Ji Zhuo was trying to calm himself down, he saw Lin Xihe, still furious, turn around angrily, stride to the bedside, climb onto the bed in a few quick movements, rummage under the pillow, and soon pull out two jade pendants.

She held the two jade pendants in her hands, swinging them back and forth, and then walked over to the pile of hay where Ji Zhuo was lying.

The jade pendant was smooth and lustrous, with exquisite carving. Looking at the sword casually tossed on the ground, its scabbard was inlaid with many dazzling gems. At a glance, it was clear that these items were not cheap.

Lin Xihe had originally planned to hide the jade pendants, threaten the man for money, and then return them to him after he paid. However, given the current situation, it seemed the man had no money to pay.

Lin Xihe stared at the character "濯" engraved on the jade pendant, her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, her cherry lips parted slightly, and she muttered softly, "What character is this again? It looks so familiar."

Ji Zhuo watched coldly, and seeing that the time was right, he pretended to be ignorant and curious, stretched out his hand, and said in a deliberately calm tone, but could not hide the coldness in his bones: "Let me see."

As he spoke, he reached out to take it.

But Lin Xihe reacted quickly. She turned around and moved the jade pendant further away, saying warily, "What are you doing? This is mine."

Ji Zhuo frowned slightly, feigning confusion as he asked, "Yours?"

"Otherwise what? Do you think I'm stupid?" Lin Xihe retorted irritably, her disgust practically written all over her face.

Upon hearing this, Ji Zhuo showed a hint of helplessness on his face and said, "Don't keep calling me an idiot."

"What else should I call you if not you?"

“We live under the same roof, don’t you know my name?” Ji Zhuo asked, his gaze intense.

"Who said I live under the same roof as you? This is my home." Lin Xihe pouted, her tone rising, her face full of impatience, as if she were shooing away an annoying mosquito.

"Then why am I at your house?"

"I saved you. You even poisoned me and lied to me, saying you'd give me money. That's why I saved you."

"No way. You look so smart, how could you be so easily fooled? Did we have a fight and you're pretending not to know me?"

"hehe!"

"My lady, don't be angry. Can you help me to bed? The floor is cold, and you can't keep leaving me naked." Ji Zhuo frowned, feigning pitifulness, his tone tinged with grievance. He was using a retreat as a means of advancing, playing the sentimental card to try and get Lin Xihe to give in. Even if he had to pretend to be stupid, he needed to find a comfortable place to recover before making any further plans.

"I told you I'm not your wife, I'm your mother." Lin Xihe rolled her eyes and said with a look of disgust. She scoffed at Ji Zhuo's affectionate address, feeling that this man in front of her was all show and no substance, and no matter how handsome he was, he couldn't catch her eye.
