Chapter 66 Blame Me If You Have to Blame

Lin Xihe had originally planned to head straight to Zui Wushuang after leaving the Gu residence, to enjoy some delicious food and treat herself.

But now, after Gu Qinghuai fainted, she had no appetite left and went straight back to her own residence.

Upon returning home, she buried herself in the covers and hid herself completely.

She wasn't heartless; it's just that whenever she encountered a problem so thorny that she didn't know where to start, she would adopt an ostrich mentality, forcing herself not to think about it and pretending that it didn't exist.

As night quietly fell, the cooks in the manor carefully prepared the meal. Ling Shuang tiptoed into the bedroom and woke the sleeping Lin Xihe.

Lin Xihe, still half asleep, arrived at the flower hall. What greeted her eyes was the same sumptuous meal as the previous two days. However, the familiar figure—Gu Qinghuai—was not there.

A sense of disappointment quietly rose in Lin Xihe's heart, but she quickly cheered herself up, thinking that she might as well take this opportunity to harden her heart and make her attitude clear, so that Gu Qinghuai would give up all hope. In time, he would probably be able to forget her.

So she forced herself to ignore the faint sense of loss in her heart and began to eat heartily.

After a satisfying meal, she returned to her bedroom, lay down on the bed, but tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

Ji Zhuo had only been away for a few days, and she didn't know when he would return. She had been by Gu Qinghuai's side all this time, and the original owner's emotions had been affecting her. She was worried that her will would become weaker and weaker, so she simply wrapped herself in a coat, got up and sat at the table, picked up a brush, and thought about drawing Ji Zhuo's appearance, at least to express her longing.

After fiddling with it for a long time, all that appeared on the paper was a simple line drawing, and it was impossible to make out a human shape at all.

"That's enough!"

She threw down her pen in frustration.

"If you can't draw it, writing a name will do."

But as soon as I wrote the character “纪”, my mind suddenly went blank, and I couldn’t remember how to write the character “濯”.

She couldn't help but complain, "This Ji Zhuo, why not just call him Ji Yi or Ji Er? They would be so much easier to write."

Left with no other choice, she could only scribble "Ji X" on the paper and hang it in her room, as if doing so would be a way of proclaiming to herself and everyone else her unwavering love for Ji Zhuo.

However, just as she finished hanging up the paper, Ling Shuang rushed over to find her in a great hurry.

"Miss, the eunuchs from the palace have arrived."

"What father-in-law? What are you doing coming to our house in the middle of the night?" Lin Xihe muttered, but her heart skipped a beat. She remembered that the day her house was raided, people came after dark. An ominous premonition welled up in her heart.

"This servant doesn't know either. The eunuch is already waiting in the front hall."

Lin Xihe didn't dare to delay, so she hurriedly put on her clothes and rushed to the front hall.

Upon reaching the front hall, she forced herself to remain calm and asked, "Father-in-law, what brings you here so late?"

The eunuch said politely, "Miss Lin, we just came from General Gu's residence. The imperial physician examined General Gu, and his condition is indeed quite serious. Miss Lin, please kneel down to receive the imperial decree."

Lin Xihe had no choice but to kneel down obediently.

The eunuch relayed the imperial decree: "His Majesty has decreed that Miss Lin should go and attend to General Gu until he recovers from his injuries."

"This humble woman accepts the imperial decree."

Lin Xihe agreed, but inwardly she thought to herself, "This Gu Qinghuai is using the Emperor to pressure me again. He's really infuriating."

"Miss Lin, please pack your things and set off now," the father-in-law urged again.

"Alright, I'll pack up now. I'll take my leave."

Lin Xihe responded and turned to leave. Because she was so angry and in such a bad mood, she even forgot to give her father-in-law some money for his hard work.

Reluctantly arriving at the Gu residence, Ling Shuang was able to enter, but was stopped outside Gu Qinghuai's courtyard and could not go in.

When Lin Xihe entered the courtyard and came into the house, Gu Qinghuai was already asleep, and the noise of the door opening did not wake him up.

Lin Xihe walked into the room and immediately noticed the medicine bowl inside. The medicine inside was completely untouched. She picked up the bowl and could still feel a little warmth remaining on it.

"Gu Qinghuai." Lin Xihe, holding a bowl of medicine, sat on the edge of the bed and called out deliberately in a higher voice.

At this moment, Gu Qinghuai slowly opened his eyes. He looked even weaker than when Lin Xihe left in the afternoon.

"You despicable scoundrel, you really won't drink your medicine?"

Seeing Gu Qinghuai wake up, Lin Xihe angrily sat directly on the edge of the bed.

After waking up, Gu Qinghuai slowly propped himself up and sat up, a slight smile playing on his lips, with a hint of smugness: "Xihe, you still can't bear to part with me after all."

"Are you lying through your teeth? Didn't you use His Majesty to pressure me, sending the eunuch to my house to deliver an imperial edict, forcing me to come and attend to your sick relative?" Lin Xihe said irritably, pushing the medicine bowl forward. "Drink!"

Gu Qinghuai found a comfortable position to lean back, and then slowly explained, "It really wasn't me who asked for it, but a royal physician did come from the palace. It was His Majesty's own idea."

"So, if I don't come, you really won't take your medicine?" Lin Xihe asked, glaring at him.

"Yeah, my hands are so weak, and I can't drink it without anyone feeding me," Gu Qinghuai said with an innocent look.

Lin Xihe's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Gu Qinghuai, who was blatantly lying.

“Okay, then don’t drink. After you die, I’ll change…” The word “marry” almost slipped out, but Lin Xihe quickly swallowed it back.

"Hmm?" Gu Qinghuai raised an eyebrow slightly, as if he had noticed something.
