Chapter 7 Meticulous Wound Cleaning

After a satisfying meal, Lin Xihe was in a very good mood.

She washed her hands, humming a song, then fetched another basin of water and carried it to Ji Zhuo, who was lying with his eyes closed.

Sensing Lin Xihe approaching step by step, Ji Zhuo's eyebrows twitched slightly, but he was too lazy to open his eyes. His voice, tinged with impatience, asked coldly, "What?"

"Treating your wounds, you don't want to die here, do you?" Lin Xihe knew very well what was important.

She didn't give in to Ji Zhuo because she felt that would be unfair to herself. She cleaned Ji Zhuo's wound because she understood that if the wound became infected, the consequences could be severe, even fatal.

Since we can't get rid of this person, we can only try to cure him as soon as possible so that he can leave sooner.

Ji Zhuo ignored her.

Lin Xihe reached out to untie the sash tied at Ji Zhuo's side. The movement of her hand pulling on the sash made Ji Zhuo, who was not used to being touched by a woman, slowly open his eyes.

The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Lin Xihe's magnified face.

She moved with extreme care, unbuttoning his clothes and then reaching to untangle the layers of tattered cloth wrapped around his body. Some of Ji Zhuo's wounds had already stuck to the tattered cloth.

"Bear with it, it will hurt a lot."

Ji Zhuo originally thought this woman was only good at scolding and cursing, but he didn't expect her to be able to speak properly sometimes.

"Ugh, how scary..."

The damaged skin was stuck tightly to the bandage, and when you tried to tear the bandage off the skin, you could feel the sticky, pulling sensation between them very clearly. Every attempt to separate them felt like tearing at a fragile nerve.

Just watching this scene is enough to send chills down your spine and send an uncontrollable shiver down your spine.

Lin Xihe's movements were extremely gentle, but because she was so close, her warm breath on Ji Zhuo's skin caused the pain from his wound to occasionally send waves of tingling sensation through him.

"The wound on your shoulder is quite deep. Don't open your head, make room for me."

Lin Xihe leaned forward, their heads close together, her warm breath spraying onto Ji Zhuo's wounds, causing him not only pain but also a strange sense of unfamiliarity.

After finally managing to peel the cloth off, the sun had already set outside.

"I can't see very well anymore, wait while I light a candle." Lin Xihe said, then stood up nimbly.

After Lin Xihe left, Ji Zhuo felt the temperature around him drop slightly, and he suddenly felt a chill.

After lighting the dim candles in the room, Lin Xihe brought over a small bundle she had bought from the street and gently placed it next to Ji Zhuo.

Before Ji Zhuo could even figure out what was in the bundle, Lin Xihe quickly washed a handkerchief and began wiping the skin around his wound.

Her movements were careful and somewhat clumsy.

Ji Zhuo's wound was throbbing slightly. He frowned, closed his eyes, and let Lin Xihe take care of him.

Only when there was no more movement on his body did Ji Zhuo slowly open his eyes.

At this moment, Lin Xihe was untying the bundle beside her, and inside lay a large medicine bottle and some clean strips of cotton cloth.

Ji Zhuo was truly surprised that this woman, who wouldn't even let him sit on a stool, would actually spend money to buy him medicine and bandages.

“You ran out of the wound medicine yesterday, so I bought you another bottle. The doctor said it might hurt when you use it, so do you want me to give you a handkerchief to bite on?” Lin Xihe held the medicine bottle in her hand, tilted her head slightly, and looked at Ji Zhuo with rare concern in her eyes. Her voice was also soft, completely different from her usual fiery temper. At this moment, she seemed like a little doctor carefully taking care of a patient.

After a long silence, Ji Zhuo finally spoke: "If you could always speak to me so gently, I wouldn't be so reluctant to eat."

"Dream on. If you don't eat, you'll just go hungry. After a few meals of starvation, you'll eat anything."

"I'm too lazy to talk to you anymore, just take your medicine." Ji Zhuo stared intently at Lin Xihe, finding the obedient woman in front of him rather cute; when she was naughty, he could kick her off the bed.

Lin Xihe carefully held the bottle and gently touched the mouth of the bottle, causing the powder to fall onto Ji Zhuo's wound.

Ji Zhuo couldn't help but let out a soft cry. This medicine was indeed extremely painful, especially in the areas where tender flesh had grown.

"Tsk, I told you it would hurt." Lin Xihe quickly blew on the area around the wound a few times, and that tingling sensation immediately returned.

This feeling was more unsettling to Ji Zhuo than the pain.

"It's okay, hurry up."

"Okay, then I'll hurry up. It's better to get it over with quickly." After saying that, Lin Xihe quickly sprinkled the medicinal powder on Ji Zhuo's body.

By the time she finished applying the medicine, a thin layer of sweat had appeared on Ji Zhuo's forehead.

Lin Xihe wiped Ji Zhuo's wound haphazardly with a handkerchief a couple of times before starting to bandage him.

During the bandaging process, Lin Xihe often had to wrap her arms around Ji Zhuo, as if hugging him. After this "intimate" ordeal, Lin Xihe tied the last knot and then noticed that Ji Zhuo's face was very red.

"Seriously? Why is your face so red?"

Lin Xihe quickly placed the back of her hand on Ji Zhuo's forehead.

In ancient times, infected wounds could be fatal.

I've already spent a fortune on medicine and cloth for Ji Zhuo. How terrible it would be if he died in my own home.

"You don't have a fever. Are you feeling unwell? Why is your face so red?"

Ji Zhuo let Lin Xihe's hands probe his forehead and face haphazardly with her questions, and asked in return, "Did you bandage me like this yesterday?"

"Otherwise what? You were like a dead pig yesterday. You exhausted me." Lin Xihe said irritably.

Ji Zhuo scrutinized her closely. When Lin Xihe said those words, she showed no emotion other than anger.
