Chapter 17
As night fell, soft lights bathed the Rose Garden Villa of the Minamino family, and moonlight reflected on the dancing petals on the terrace, as if offering blessings for this wedding night.
After the wedding, Minamino Shuichi took off his suit jacket and gently led Sakura into their new home.
The new room was elegantly decorated yet romantic, with velvet curtains draped at the corners and pale pink scented candles lit by the bed. A few champagne rose petals were scattered on the snow-white bedding, and even the air was filled with a sweet fragrance.
Sakura changed out of her wedding dress and into a soft silk nightgown. Her long, wavy, knee-length golden hair cascaded down her back, and her sea-blue eyes sparkled in the candlelight. Her face, flushed with pregnancy, radiated a charming and gentle aura.
She sat gently on the edge of the bed, cradling her still-not-veiled belly in her hands, as if whispering secrets to the baby inside.
Nanno Shuichi approached, slowly squatted down in front of her, placed one knee on the ground, and gently pressed his forehead against her lower abdomen: "Little fox, now you'll be living with your mother."
He murmured softly as if soothing a baby, his warm hand resting on her belly, his eyes filled with tenderness and affection.
Sakura smiled, running her fingers through his long red hair, gently playing with the strands, her voice soft: "Didn't you always want to consummate your marriage? Now it's come true, but I'm pregnant... Don't go too far."
Her eyes held a hint of mischief, and a smile played on her lips; she was both charming and alluring.
Nanno Shuichi looked up, a hint of playfulness in his eyes, and gently kissed her fingertips: "So tonight... I'll be very gentle." He reached out and untied the ribbons of her robe, his movements slow and restrained, as if handling the most precious work of art.
A blush crept onto Sakura's cheeks. She didn't resist, but simply lowered her head shyly, unable to hide the tenderness in her eyes.
"You are my wife now." He pulled her into his arms, kissing her collarbone, shoulder, and ear, each kiss filled with tender love and reverence.
"Mmm..." she responded softly, her whole being immersed in his embrace, feeling the rhythm of their heartbeats gradually matching.
Her body became more sensitive due to pregnancy, but he remained restrained, only holding her in his arms as they lay on the soft bed, gently stroking her slightly protruding belly.
"I'm afraid I'll scare the baby..." Xiaoying hugged his waist, her voice as soft as cream, "You really... can you hold back?"
“I don’t need anything more tonight.” He kissed her forehead. “I just want to lie here quietly with you.”
“Shuichi…” she murmured his name, her eyes glistening with tears, “Thank you… for marrying me.”
"I should be thanking you." He cupped the back of her head with one hand and gently pressed his forehead against hers. "Thank you for being willing to give your whole life to me, even the little life inside you... to me."
The night was gentle, the gauze curtains were half-drawn, and the breeze outside stirred them. The two on the bed embraced tightly, their heartbeats like overlapping melodies, whispering the most touching vows of their wedding night.
—
In the middle of the night, Sakura was awakened by a slight fetal movement.
She gently stroked her belly and chuckled softly, "Is the little fox also happy for Mommy and Daddy's wedding?"
She was about to turn and get up when she was pulled back by Nanno Shuichi in her arms.
"Don't move," he murmured softly, his voice still hoarse from just waking up. "You are... two people now, you can't move around."
"But I want to drink water."
"I'll get you some." He put on his bathrobe and went barefoot into the kitchen. He quickly brought back a glass of warm water.
"Sit up first." He helped her sit up against the headboard and gently fed her water sip by sip, his eyes fixed on her expression the whole time.
After finishing the drink, Xiaoying suddenly hugged him and said, "Husband."
"Um?"
Will you always spoil me like this?
He chuckled softly and hugged her tightly: "I'll spoil you for the rest of my life."
She smiled, curled up in his arms, and fell asleep, her face flushed as she dreamt of her family of three—sunlight streaming into the courtyard, a baby babbling in her arms, and Nanno Shuichi, holding her hand, smiling and saying, "This is everything to me."
—
This wedding night lacked intense passion, but was filled with deep affection and tenderness. From this night forward, they would not only be lovers, but also parents of their child, and family members to share their future.
Their love has evolved into the form of a family—quietly, steadfastly, and tenderly intertwined in each other's lives.
The morning sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the master bedroom of the Nanye residence, gently illuminating the pure white velvet bedding, while a faint scent of roses and vanilla lingered in the air.
The two nestled quietly together on the bed.
Sakura opened her eyes first.
She turned slightly to the side and saw Nanno Shuichi leaning against her. The man had one hand on her waist and the other hand hanging naturally at her abdomen, as if subconsciously protecting her and the baby.
She couldn't help but chuckle softly, reaching out to brush his long red hair aside.
"Shuichi..." she whispered.
The man didn't open his eyes, but instinctively hugged her even tighter.
“…I can take the day off today.” His voice was hoarse and languid, with the self-righteousness of a newlywed husband. “You are my wife. It’s the first day I wake up, so of course I have to be by your side.”
"You're still in bed." Sakura laughed and poked him with her finger. "Get up, it's time to wash up."
Nanno Shuichi finally opened his eyes, his green eyes still moist from just waking up. He straightened up and picked her up in his arms.
"Then let your husband help you wash up."
"It's not like I can't get out of bed—Wow! Put me down!" Sakura said with a blushing smile.
“You’re pregnant, so you need to be taken care of.” He lowered his head and kissed the tip of her nose. “From today onwards, you are the matriarch of the Nanye family, who will pamper you to the skies.”
A light mist rose in the bathroom, and two sets of couple's toothbrush cups were placed on the white countertop.
With practiced ease, Minamino Hideichi squeezed the toothpaste onto her toothbrush and then turned on the warm water.
Sakura stood in front of the mirror wearing a soft nightgown and a morning bathrobe, looking like a kitten who had just woken up, with a lazy expression.
"Ah—" she opened her mouth.
"...You want me to help you swipe again?" He raised an eyebrow.
"You said it, you'd take care of me starting today."
He chuckled softly, bent down, and gently brushed her teeth as he said, "Don't say I spoil you without limits; this is a perk of our marriage."
Sakura smiled, her eyes crinkling as she sucked on toothpaste foam.
After washing up, the two changed into their pajamas and went downstairs together.
The curtains in the dining room of the Minamino House were already drawn, and sunlight streamed onto the long dining table. A delicate breakfast had been prepared—toast, vegetable omelet, milk, and a low-sugar fruit cup, all of which were nutritious breakfasts tailored for pregnant women.
As soon as the two came downstairs together, the maid greeted them respectfully: "Good morning, Mrs. and Mr. Minamino."
"Mm." Minamino Shuichi nodded slightly, one hand still around Sakura's waist.
"Madam looks very well today," another older maid praised with a smile.
Sakura blushed slightly, but naturally returned the greeting: "Thank you for preparing breakfast."
She only realized after she sat down that her chair had been replaced with a specially made maternity chair with a padded backrest and an embroidered cushion on it.
"...You changed it?" she asked Xiuyi in a low voice.
“Of course, my wife needs to be comfortable.” He gently pulled out a chair for her. “If she eats well, the baby will be healthy.”
She chuckled: "You're starting to sound more and more like your dad."
"Then you'll be Dad's most beloved little mom."
He spoke in a very serious tone, which made Sakura laugh so hard she almost spat out her milk.
Sunlight streamed into the kitchen and living room.
Halfway through breakfast, Minamino Shuichi suddenly stood up, walked behind her, hugged her from behind, and whispered in her ear:
"Sakura, welcome to our first day of marriage."
"For the next ten thousand days, I will stay with you and pamper you just like I am today."
"...until you get annoyed with me."
Sakura, biting into her toast, turned around with a smile: "Then you should be prepared, I'm not very easy to bother you with."
"Perfect timing, I also plan to spoil you for the rest of my life."
Their foreheads touched gently, with the view from the kitchen window of the Minamino family home, the sunlight, and laughter in the background.
Their new life, quietly and happily, has officially begun.
