Chapter 27

Chapter 27

On an autumn morning, the sunlight at the Minamino residence was quiet and gentle.

The roses in the courtyard are still in full bloom, and the air is filled with the aroma of tea and a faint fragrance of flowers.

Shuichi Minamino sat in his study, the laptop screen in front of him displaying designs sent by a jewelry designer.

The light shimmering on the screen was from a light pink gemstone necklace—set with small diamonds, with a heart-shaped morganite in the center, its color as gentle as Sakura's smiling eyes.

The designer asked respectfully on the other end of the video call:

"Mr. Minamino, should we keep the facets of the gemstone in this heart shape? Or would you like to change it to an oval shape?"

Shuichi whispered, "Keep it as it is. She likes heart-shaped things."

"Understood. Expected to be completed within ten days."

"Um."

He turned off the video, leaned back in his chair, and let out a soft breath.

He smiled, his fingers tapping the table unconsciously.

That was the first time he wanted to give her a "non-essential" gift.

From the time they got married until now, he has prepared almost everything for her—

Wedding dress, house, food, doctor, maid team...

She doesn't need to worry about life.

However, he gradually discovered—

She almost never asked him for anything.

I never asked him for money, and I never mentioned anything I wanted to buy.

He had given her that salary card long before the wedding.

As a result, the numbers on the card hardly changed.

She spends every day in the villa, diligently attending prenatal classes, practicing the piano, and tending the garden, her smile gentle and content.

But the more he saw her like this, the more a pang of sadness welled up inside him.

Isn't she too sensible? So sensible that it breaks my heart.

So he decided to secretly prepare a surprise.

The necklace was adorned with gemstones he personally selected.

Pink morganite symbolizes "gentleness and happiness" and is the most suitable gemstone for pregnant women.

He even specified that the inlaid metal "could not be too heavy, and could not be cold."

I was worried she would be uncomfortable wearing it.

At the end of the design, he added a note:

Please engrave the following on the back:

To Sakura — You are the gentlest light in my life.

“Mr. Minamino—” The maid knocked lightly on the door and brought tea. “Madam asked if you would like to have lunch together.”

Xiu snapped out of her daze and quickly closed her laptop.

"I'll go down right away."

He stood up, straightened his collar, and secretly checked that the jewelry designs on the table were not visible.

—After all, it's a secret.

Downstairs, Sakura was already sitting at the dining table, holding a parenting book in her arms.

When she saw him walk in, her eyes lit up: "Shuiyi~ What were you busy with just now?"

"Um... some information from the company."

He smiled to mask the slight hesitation in his voice.

"I see~" Sakura smiled and handed him the utensils. "Then eat well and don't work too hard."

"Um."

She ate with her head down, occasionally stealing glances at him with a gentle look in her eyes.

He guiltily avoided eye contact, and even drank his tea with three times more seriousness than usual.

...If she finds out, there won't be any surprises.

After lunch, she went back to her room for a nap, and Xiuyi quietly made a phone call.

"It's me. I'd like the necklace to be packaged in a cherry blossom pink velvet box, without any brand logo."

"Also, please attach a handwritten card for me."

The message read: "Wait until you're discharged from the hospital, then I'll fasten it for you myself."

As night fell, Shuichi was flipping through documents in his study, but his mind was already wandering elsewhere.

He imagined the look on her face when she opened the box that day—

Her eyes widened in surprise, a slight smile playing on her lips as she softly chuckled and said, "Shuichi... why did you suddenly give me this?"

Then, she would definitely add in that soft tone, "I like it so much."

Thinking of this, the corners of his mouth unconsciously curved upwards.

He murmured to himself:

"She must wear it for me to see when the time comes."

That night, the wind gently blew through the garden outside the window.

Shuichi Minamino turned off the study light and gave one last glance at the encrypted envelope on the table—

Inside was the order details for the customized gifts he had made.

He smiled and said softly:

"Wait another ten days, you silly boy."

"Then it will be my turn to bring you some happiness."

The afternoon sun shone through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating the marble floor of the Minamino House.

Sakura was nestled on the sofa, a cup of herbal tea beside her, flipping through a pregnancy magazine.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Madam, there's a package for you." The maid entered softly and placed a delicate cherry blossom pink box on the coffee table.

Sakura tilted her head: "Huh? I didn't order anything online."

After becoming pregnant, she stayed at home almost exclusively, even limiting her online shopping.

"The sender is listed as... Private Custom Gift Studio," the maid reminded with a smile. "It has Mr. Minamino's signature confirming receipt."

"Shuichi?"

Sakura's eyes lit up slightly, and her slender fingers gently unwrapped the packaging.

Once the lid is lifted—

Under the soft light, a pink heart-shaped morganite necklace lay quietly on a velvet background.

Its color is as gentle as the spring breeze.

As the light brushed against the gemstone, it refracted a faint golden glow, like the light in the corner of her eyes when she smiled.

Sakura was stunned for a moment.

The feeling of being struck in the heart by that sudden tenderness left her stunned.

Inside the box lid, there was a small handwritten card.

"Wear it after you are discharged from the hospital, and I will fasten it for you myself."

To Sakura — You are the gentlest light in my life.

——Shuichi"

That line of text was written by his own hand.

Her handwriting was steady, yet carried a gentle strength that she was familiar with.

Sakura's eyes welled up slightly, and her fingertips gently traced the pink gem.

That was the first time she received from him not a ring, not clothes, not flowers, but—

A gift given because "I like you".

Just as she was lost in her emotions, she heard footsteps behind her.

"What are you looking at?"

A deep and gentle voice rang out.

Sakura instinctively closed the box and turned her head away—

As expected, it was Minamino Shuichi.

He changed out of his coat, rolled up his shirt sleeves, and his eyes held a sly glint.

"You were peeking at my files?"

Sakura panicked, clutching the box: "No, no, this was sent by someone else... Do you know who sent it?"

He raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence: "How would I know? Maybe someone secretly sent my wife a gift?"

"Huh? That won't do!"

Sakura's eyes widened, and she said seriously, "Then I'll refuse to accept it!"

"Oh?" He suppressed a laugh and slowly approached her.

"What if I were the one to give it to you?"

"Huh?" Sakura was taken aback.

The next second, Minamino Shuichi reached out and pulled her into his arms.

He pulled the necklace from between her fingers and chuckled softly, "Do you like it?"

"……like."

Her voice was almost as soft as a mosquito's buzz, and her cheeks were flushed pink.

"That's good."

He bent down and gently put the necklace on her.

The warmth from his fingertips spread little by little along his neck.

"Be gentle..." she protested softly, a faint blush rising on the back of her neck.

"alright."

He fastened the necklace clasp, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "I should have given you something a long time ago."

"You've already given away so many."

Sakura looked up at him, her eyes filled with tenderness.

"A house, a ring, flowers... and yourself."

“But all of those are necessary.” He chuckled softly, his gaze deep.

"This time, I just want to simply express my liking."

He reached out and stroked her face, then lowered his head and gently kissed her lips.

At that moment, the necklace swayed slightly around her neck, reflecting a pink light.

Sakura leaned against him, her fingers gently touching the gem.

“Thank you, Shuichi,” she said softly.

"Actually, I haven't spent any of your money because... I feel that just being with you is enough."

Nan Ye Xiu was taken aback for a moment, then hugged her tightly.

"Idiot," he said with a hoarse laugh, "then what am I supposed to do?"

I so desperately wanted to spoil you with everything I had.

"Then let's continue to spoil her." She chuckled softly.

That night, starlight quietly fell outside the window.

Looking at her in his arms, Minamino Shuichi gently stroked the pink morganite around her neck.

He thought to himself—

No matter what season the future holds, she will always be the only spring in his life.
