Chapter 41
The night was quiet, and on the large bed in the Minamino residence, Huiyi was already sound asleep under the soft light of a night lamp.
His little hand was still holding his mother's finger, and his breathing was steady and gentle.
Sakura gently withdrew her hand and tucked the blanket around her son.
As I turned around, I was embraced tightly in a warm hug from behind.
"You still can't bear to leave him?"
Shuichi Minamino's voice was deep, carrying a hint of amusement and a long-suppressed emotion.
"Huiyi just fell asleep."
Sakura responded softly, turned around, and her cheeks were enveloped by his warm breath.
Shuichi's gaze burned with intensity in the night.
He stroked her long hair and whispered in her ear in a hoarse voice:
"Sakura... I've really been holding back for a long time."
Sakura looked up, her sea-blue eyes sparkling in the dim light.
That smile was gentle yet tinged with a hint of slyness.
"Whose fault is it that we can't help ourselves?"
She moved closer to him, her tone soft yet teasing.
"Who didn't use a condom that night?"
Nanno Hideichi chuckled, looking down at the girl in his arms.
A light, a mixture of indulgence and pampering, flashed in those green eyes.
"That night, I really lost control."
He gently stroked her face, "But I never regret it."
An ambiguous temperature filled the air.
Sakura's lips curled up slightly, and her voice was so soft that only the two of them could hear it.
"What do we do now? Huiyi is asleep next to us."
"Then let's be quiet."
He whispered in her ear, his voice so low and hoarse it almost melted the night.
Sakura couldn't help but laugh out loud, but he immediately covered her mouth.
The smile transformed into a breath that flowed between the two.
A gentle breeze rustled through the curtains outside.
The glow of the nightlight illuminated the silhouettes of the two embracing.
It was gentle and intimate, yet it also carried a long-lost flutter of excitement between husband and wife.
"Shuichi."
Sakura leaned against his chest and murmured softly.
"Um?"
"Thank you for waiting for me."
"Silly girl," he chuckled, kissing her forehead.
"You are the only person I want to wait for."
Starlight streamed in through the window.
It landed between their intertwined fingertips.
That night, there was no noise, only the beating of heartbeats and soft breathing.
Like a dream, like light, like love.
Morning light streamed into the bedroom through the gaps in the curtains.
The sunlight was faint, and the air still carried the lingering warmth of last night.
Sakura slowly opened her eyes, feeling languid all over.
All that could be heard was the steady breathing of the man beside her.
She turned her head and saw that Minamino Shuichi was quietly looking at her.
His eyes held a hint of doting affection and a smile.
"good morning."
His voice was deep and gentle.
Sakura gently bit her lip, then smiled and snuggled into his arms.
Good morning...but you...
She blinked, her tone half-scolding and half-laughing.
"That's so unfair! Last night left me feeling weak all over."
Shuichi Minamino chuckled and stroked her disheveled long golden hair.
"Then let's sleep a little longer."
"You make that sound so easy,"
Sakura poked his chest with her fingertip.
"You're in charge of taking care of Huiyi today."
Mom needs to rest.
Hidekazu Minamino smiled and nodded.
"Yes, madam."
He leaned down and gently kissed her forehead.
You don't need to do anything today.
I'll prepare breakfast and also take Huiyi out to get some sun.
"real?"
Sakura squinted, half-believing and half-doubting.
"certainly."
He gently tucked the blanket around her, his voice low but firm:
"You just need to take good care of yourself and rest well."
The rest, leave them to me.
Sakura's eyes crinkled with laughter.
"That sounds like we're being a little too happy."
"Then enjoy it as much as you can."
He took her hand.
Sunlight danced on their fingertips, casting a soft halo.
"good."
She nestled in his arms and gently closed her eyes.
"Then today, it's up to Dad."
Minamino Shuichi responded softly, "Yes."
Only the sound of quiet breathing remained in the room.
The sunlight slowly spread, illuminating a gentle new day for the family.
The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains into the living room, and a faint aroma of milk filled the air.
Shuichi Minamino was wearing a casual shirt and holding the soft, cuddly little Hikaru in his arms.
The little one had rosy cheeks, round eyes, and a pout, as if about to cry.
"Huiyi, what's wrong?"
Shuichi gently rocked the baby in his arms, his tone so tender that even the maids couldn't help but secretly smile.
"Young Master, you must be hungry?" the butler respectfully reminded him from the side.
"I know." Xiu nodded.
“My mother told me that Sakura needs to rest more now. I’ll feed her then.”
He bent down and took the bottle from beside the stroller; the temperature was already set.
He tentatively held the pacifier to Huiyi's lips.
result--
The little guy's lips were tightly pursed; he didn't drink at all.
Instead, she waved her little hand and cried even louder with a "waaaah!"
"Hey, hey, why are you crying so loudly?"
Shuichi hurriedly moved the baby bottle away.
"Young master might not like baby bottles," the maid said cautiously.
"What would he like to drink?"
Minamino Hideichi frowned and looked down at his son in his arms.
Huiyi looked at him with her big, wet eyes as she cried.
Her little mouth opened and closed, making a sticky "hmm" sound.
That expression—clearly a mixture of longing, grievance, and innocence.
"Could it be..."
Shuichi paused for two seconds, staring into the little guy's eyes.
His tone carried a mixture of helplessness and indulgence.
"Huiyi, you want to drink Mommy's milk, right?"
Huiyi's crying subsided instantly.
She stared intently at her father, her eyes unblinking.
Her little mouth even moved slightly, as if she were actually "nodding".
"...You can actually understand it."
Shuichi was both amused and exasperated.
“Young master, babies do remember their mother’s scent,” the butler explained softly.
"Perhaps the young master just misses his wife too much."
Minamino Shuichi sighed.
"It seems that my existence is only second in his heart."
"Of course," the maid whispered with a smile.
"A mother and child are connected at heart."
Xiuyi looked down at his son in his arms.
"Huiyi, Dad knows you miss Mom, but Mom is resting right now."
He gently stroked Huiyi's nose with his fingertip.
"If you keep making so much noise, Mommy will be woken up."
Huiyi seemed to understand, and his crying paused.
She was still trying to breathe through her little mouth, her eyes were wet.
"Oh dear." Xiu Yi laughed.
"You little fox, you even know how to play the victim."
He gently patted Xiaohui's back while soothing him in a low voice:
"Wait a little longer, okay? When Mom wakes up, you can drink your favorite milk."
Hui let out a soft "Hmm—"
Then it actually quieted down.
Her little hands were still clutching Shuichi's clothes, and her little head was resting against his chest.
"Phew...it's finally stopped."
Shuichi breathed a sigh of relief, a smile appearing on his lips.
He looked down at the sleeping little one.
For the first time, I truly felt—
Being a father turned out to be more complicated and more fulfilling than he had imagined.
A few minutes later, Sakura pushed open the bedroom door and peeked out gently.
She saw that scene at a glance—
Sunlight streamed obliquely into the living room.
Shuichi Minamino sat on the sofa,
He quietly held the sleeping Huiyi in his arms.
That usually calm face was now full of tenderness.
She couldn't help but laugh.
In that instant, all happiness was captured in a single image.
"It seems you and your father get along well."
She murmured to herself, then raised her hand to cover her lips and smiled.
That smile was as gentle as a spring breeze.
Gently, it sprinkled all over the Minamino family home.
