Chapter 44

Chapter 44

As the golden light of dusk faded, the sea surface rippled with gentle silver waves.

The sound of the tide lapping against the shore carried a delicate salty scent and a cool breeze.

Hideichi Minamino had one hand in his pocket and the other hand holding his wife's hand beside him.

Sakura wore a light, white long dress, the hem of which was gently lifted by the evening breeze.

Her long, golden hair shimmered softly in the night.

She walked barefoot on the sand, her toes gently submerged by the waves.

Turning to look at Shuichi, he smiled and said, "Is this what you call compensation?"

"Mmm." He responded with a gentle smile.

"Didn't we say we were going on a honeymoon? I was worried you'd get tired, so I changed it to a smaller version—'a beach date'."

"Hmph, a smaller version?"

Sakura twirled around, her skirt billowing in the wind.

"What if I say I'm not satisfied?"

"Then I'll charter an entire cruise ship tomorrow."

His tone was calm, yet it carried an undeniable, earnest affection.

"...I was just kidding." Sakura was taken aback by his retort, but couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"I just can't do anything with you."

The sea breeze swept by, ruffling her hair.

Nanno Shuichi reached out and tucked the ear behind her ear.

"It's windy, be careful not to catch a cold."

"Okay, okay, I'm not a child anymore." She pouted slightly.

"But now, you are the person I cherish most."

He approached her, his voice low and husky.

"More important than myself."

Sakura's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up to meet his gaze.

The moonlight reflected in his eyes, and the deep green seemed to draw him in.

"...When did you become so good at sweet talk?" she asked with a soft laugh.

"Since I met you."

Shuichi's voice was almost right next to her ear.

"I used to only know how to calculate, plan, and think calmly..."

But after you came into my life, I started doing irrational things.

"for example?"

“For example,” he paused, gently lifting her chin,

"Like this."

He lowered his head and kissed her.

The waves receded and surged back at my feet.

The moonlight in the night sky was as gentle as silk.

Their shadows blended together.

Only that kiss sounded, as light as the wind blowing through flower petals.

After a long while, their lips parted.

Sakura's breathing became slightly erratic as she smiled and leaned into his arms.

"I thought you needed to 'think it over' a bit more."

"I've finished thinking about it," he said firmly.

The conclusion is—I can't leave you.

She looked up at him, her eyes reflecting starlight.

"Do you know, Shuichi?"

"Um?"

"I'm actually very scared," she said softly.

"Pregnancy, giving birth to Huiyi, becoming a mother... Sometimes I doubt whether I can do it well."

But whenever I see you by my side, I feel—it's okay.

Minamino Hideichi reached out and gently pulled her into his arms.

His chin rested on the top of her head, his tone as gentle as the waves.

"It's okay, because wherever you go, I'll be there."

"I will study with you, be silly with you, and take care of him with you."

Sakura leaned against him, her eyes crinkling with laughter.

"When Huiyi learned that his parents held hands and dated under the moonlight like this, he was truly inspired."

Will he think we're too clingy?

"Then let him get used to it," Shuichi said with a faint smile.

"After all, his mother belongs to me."

"...So narcissistic." She laughed and scolded, but then tightened her grip on his hand.

The sea breeze blew her skirt, and the night was softened into a silvery white by the moonlight.

The two walked slowly along the beach.

The footprints may be washed away by the waves, but they leave an eternal mark in our hearts.

Ending narration:

That night, the sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore.

The moonlight enveloped their shadows.

In this belated "mini-honeymoon,"

No extravagant vows, only ordinary love—

With two people who depend on each other for survival,

In each other's world, let's breathe peacefully.

The night gently enveloped the Minamino residence.

In the master bedroom, soft moonlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The reflection shows a pair of figures embracing on the sofa.

Sakura sat in Minamino Shuichi's lap.

Her fingertips traced lightly across his shirt.

Gently touch that row of firm abdominal muscles.

"...You've really practiced quite well."

She chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Minamino Shuichi lowered his head, his thin lips brushing against her ear.

His voice was deep and magnetic: "Just wanted to make sure you've had enough touching?"

Sakura burst out laughing and looked up at him.

"Hmph, don't get too cocky. Who told you to be so busy with work that you forgot who I am?"

She hugged him tightly, her tone a mix of anger and coquetry.

"All I see all day is my son, the company, and the projects."

Do you know that your wife almost thought you'd forgotten about her?

Nanno Hideichi chuckled and reached out to pinch her chin.

"How could I forget? You are the only one in my eyes."

"That's a lie."

Sakura pouted, her eyes looking both aggrieved and adorable.

"Mingming promised me that she would take me on our honeymoon after Huiyi turned one month old."

And what happened? The passport wasn't even touched!

"That's because you've just recovered, and I'm afraid you'll overwork yourself."

"Hmph, an excuse." She raised an eyebrow.

Do you regret marrying me?

Otherwise, let's get a divorce. I'll go back to playing the violin.

The whole world is waiting for my music.

As soon as she finished speaking, she was about to get up.

But Minamino Shuichi pulled her back into his arms.

With a swift movement, he lifted her up in a princess carry.

"Hey—what are you doing!" Sakura exclaimed.

She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

You've said too much.

He stared into her eyes, his tone tinged with amusement.

"You are not pregnant right now."

I wouldn't miss a chance to let my wife act cute.

He carried her to the bedside.

Those emerald green eyes gleamed with obvious desire and deep affection.

He placed Sakura on the bed, half-leaning against the pillows.

Still defiantly raising her chin,

"I knew you wanted to bully me."

"How could I bear to?" Xiuyi smiled and bent down.

His lips were almost touching her ear.

"I just want to tell you something first—"

"What?" She blinked, a little wary.

He leaned close to her ear, his voice so gentle it almost melted into the night:

"I've already booked my tickets. We'll fly to Paris tomorrow morning."

Sakura's eyes widened in shock.

"……real?"

"Yes. With Huiyi being cared for by Mom, it's time for us to have some time alone together."

He raised his hand and gently stroked her face, his gaze full of affection and doting.

"You are not allowed to refuse this time."

Sakura looked at his extremely serious expression.

The anger in my heart instantly turned into a soft sweetness.

She reached out and squeezed his tie.

She smiled charmingly: "So you had this all planned out all along."

“Of course,” he answered softly.

"Do you think I would actually let my wife divorce me and run away?"

"Then I need to think carefully about whether or not I should forgive you."

She tilted her head, a mischievous grin on her face.

"Then I'll have to make you forgive me through my actions."

"What do you mean—"

Before she could finish speaking, he sealed her lips with his.

The air froze for a moment.

A gentle breeze rustled the curtains outside the window.

Time seemed to slow down.

After a long while, their lips parted.

Sakura, breathing softly, leaned against him.

His smile carried a gentle reproach.

"You... you really only know how to use this one trick."

"Because this is the most effective method."

He gently kissed her forehead.

"Remember not to be late tomorrow," she reminded him softly with a smile.

"I'm a woman going to Paris."

"certainly."

Nanno Shuichi hugged her tightly,

"This time, I'm going to take you to see the most romantic night view in the world—"

This is no longer compensation, but a new beginning.
