Chapter 18: Unable to hide and confess

Chapter 18: Unable to hide and confess

After sending the message, Yuzuru Hanyu put down his phone and continued studying the practice video he had recorded the previous night. Since returning to Sendai, he has returned to the familiar ice rink from his childhood to practice, quietly going there in the middle of the night when no one is around.

The basic process is to first find the power switch with ease, then set up your camera, start the training set for yourself that day, and finally send the video to the coach. You will also start looking for topics after getting up.

This kind of life goes on day after day.

After organizing his training notes, Yuzuru Hanyu stretched and opened another video to start studying seriously.

This is his new program, which is about the story of Kenshin Uesugi, and it is also the second time he has chosen Japanese-style music.

As for the reason for his song choice, it was probably Seimei's success that made him wonder if Japanese-style music was truly "Hanyu's style." This was his prepared response to reporters' questions; after all, the actual reason for choosing Kenshin Uesugi as the theme was a bit hasty.

His jumping practice that day did not go well, and he felt a little depressed when he got home. After taking a shower, he did not want to sleep at all, so he simply got up and played games.

Samurai Warriors-Start!

I just got a new character not long ago and haven't tried it yet, so I dug it out to give it a try. Surprisingly, this A-level character, Kenshin Uesugi, was very easy to use. I got several achievements that I hadn't gotten before, which was very refreshing.

Suddenly I felt that this character might be related to me, so I went to look up some information.

"Look, the book says that Uesugi Kenshin disliked scheming, disliked women, and didn't care about the results of victory throughout his life, but he never wanted to lose a battle. He possessed both the aesthetics of battle, which allowed him to conquer the battlefield and command troops wisely; he also had a devout Buddhist faith and a state of enlightenment full of compassion. Isn't he very similar to me?" That day, Yuzuru Hanyu was flipping through a book in the video, telling Le his understanding of Uesugi Kenshin.

He rambled on about his unyielding spirit, his determination to sacrifice everything for his goals, his soft and kind heart, and listed many similarities between him and Uesugi Kenshin. The person on the video chat didn't interrupt him, just listened quietly, occasionally hearing the sound of work notifications from Le and the sound of her typing on the keyboard.

After talking for a long time, Yuzuru Hanyu felt thirsty and picked up the cup of water to moisten his throat. In the video, he probably heard him calm down before he spoke slowly.

"Well, that's probably what the reporters like. After all, it's probably inappropriate to assume that just because you successfully achieved the achievement in Samurai Warriors, this character will definitely help you achieve good results."

Puff——cough cough cough cough——

Yuzuru Hanyu choked on a mouthful of water. After coughing, he looked up at the video and met Le's eyes, which seemed to see through everything. How did this guy know?

However, after the music was edited and the arrangement gradually became complete, and during the continuous practice, Yuzuru Hanyu did find that he and Kenshin Uesugi seemed to have a spiritual connection in the short four and a half minutes. He seemed to truly feel like he had become a martial god, conquering a lifetime.

The prepared words became the heartfelt words when facing the reporters, but that’s a story for later.

After finishing all the video analysis for the day, Yuzuru Hanyu picked up his phone again. There were no new messages, so he probably was busy. Thinking this, he clicked on the photo sent by Le and took a closer look.

There are large sweat stains on the mask. It must be really hot.

Perhaps due to years of training on the ice, Yuzuru Hanyu is known for his extreme heat tolerance and sweatiness, often wearing minimal clothing. Coincidentally, Le, who grew up in Finland, is also known for his heat intolerance. While he doesn't sweat as much as Hanyu, he does get irritable when the heat hits.

He remembered that summer in Finland, feeling a bit impatient with the sudden temperature surge and too lazy to move at home. Fanning himself, Hanyu lamented that Finnish houses were primarily designed for insulation; even a 30-degree Celsius temperature indoors was enough to make one sweat profusely.

In order to avoid having a fit of joy at home later, he felt that he really needed an electric fan.

I went to the supermarket under the scorching sun and, speaking Finnish, brought back a small electric fan. I plugged it in, turned the knob, and the fan started spinning, blowing out hot air, clearly warmer than the room temperature.

"Hanyu Yuzuru! What are you doing?" Le was about to lose his temper when he felt the room temperature rising again. However, seeing Hanyu Yuzuru's bewildered expression, he took a deep breath to suppress his anger. He walked over and turned off the small fan that was heating the room. "It's so hot, why are you turning on the heater?"

"Is this a heater?" This obviously looks like an electric fan.

"Yeah! Look!" Le took the box Hanyu had set aside and pointed to the long string of Finnish characters next to the small word "Heat." Hanyu scratched his head and said that when he was checking out, the clerk repeatedly confirmed whether he had made the wrong purchase.

Hahahahahahaha——

Hearing his innocent explanation, Le laughed uncontrollably. After a while, he started to complain about the heat and ran to the back door of the living room. Not caring if any small animals would get in, he flung open the glass door. The fresh air brought in a gust of summer breeze, lifting the curtains and the long hair clinging to Le's neck, bringing with it the scent of summer grass.

This scene, which was like a girl's comic, was broken by the sound of the door slamming when Le went to turn off the heater.

When she pushed the door open and came back, she was wearing a baseball cap just like in the photo. Sweat ran down her cheeks and wet the hair on her neck. She was so angry that Yuzuru Hanyu quickly offered her an iced cola. He felt that his life was saved by the iced cola that day.

Thinking of this, Yuzuru Hanyu suddenly felt that he had only sent a "cheer up" message, which seemed a bit hasty. Le must be in a bad mood right now...

----

"Just drop me off at the gate of the community, thank you~" It was already past eight o'clock in the evening when I finished today's busy day. Fortunately, I got on a colleague's car, otherwise I would have taken several subways and it would have been very late when I got home.

The moment the car door opened, a wave of heat washed over me, and I frowned. It was already the end of August, and the temperature in Finland would have been 20 degrees Celsius by then, so why was City B still so hot?

He mustered up the courage to get out of the car and immersed himself in the warm night. Holding the car door, he thanked his colleagues again and again, then gently closed the door. After watching the car drive away, Le turned around and went home.

The community is very large, and there is still a short distance from the main gate to the building. According to past experience, no matter how fast or slow I walk, I will not be able to escape from being sweaty. So I might as well get home quickly, thinking so, I quickened my pace.

I walked downstairs and looked up. Light was coming through the window of my living room.

Guan Yue returned home last week, and finally, the house wasn't completely dark anymore. She'd specially replaced the light bulbs with cooler white energy-saving bulbs, and when she opened the door, the cool air from the air conditioner blew in. It was a relief...

"You're back!" Guan Yue's voice came from the living room. She was holding her laptop, revising a script so she could play some TV drama on the TV as background music. When Le walked into the living room, Si Lang had returned to Sui Yu Xuan with Zhen Huan in his arms for the third time this week.

"I've read The Legend of Zhen Huan so much I've almost memorized it." Le collapsed on the sofa. "Are you really not tired of it?"

Guan Yue shook her finger and said, "I haven't even finished watching The Legend of Zhen Huan."

"How is that possible?"

"I never look at Lingyun Peak." This joke didn't make anyone laugh. Guan Yue only got a big eye roll. "Is today's project going badly?"

"Not really... I'm just... very tired."

"I have something to say that's not worth saying." Seeing Le's expression, which didn't seem to indicate he was trying to stop her, she said, "I don't understand why you'd want to take on such a demanding task as the Winter Olympics. Teacher Meng can't refuse. She's told me many times that most of the time, this job has nothing to do with artistic creation. No one would want to go, except for those who want to improve their resumes."

Le Tan leaned on the sofa without moving and raised his eyes.

Why is everyone talking about this today?

The Winter Olympics wasn't her first time participating in a major non-ballet event, but it was the one she was most often asked about. Apparently, volunteering at the CWW ice show was even more baffling, wasn't it? After all, Yuzuru Hanyu had simply cajoled her into going.

That day, as she pushed open the backstage door of the theater, she kept thinking over the director's evaluation of her work that day.

If you just want to be a choreographer, you only need to think clearly about how to express the music and how to use the dancers' bodies. But if you want to be a good director, you have to coordinate more than just one person. Going it alone won't work.

Of course she knew it wasn't possible, but ever since she decided not to be a dancer, it seemed as if the heavens had been irritated by her decision to throw away her job. So her path from choreographer to ballet director hadn't been smooth sailing. Aside from her artistry, the reviews she received on other aspects of her abilities were always a mess.

Just when she was feeling down and couldn't find a way out, her cell phone rang and a car horn blared across the street. Yuzuru Hanyu was in Tokyo for work and had come to see her when he finished.

I took a deep breath to adjust my mood before getting into the car. I listened to him excitedly talking about the interesting things in this interview program, and responded from time to time.

Suddenly, he changed the subject: "My thank you performance, Bing Le, come too, not as an audience, but to participate."

I couldn't find a career path, and I had no desire to do anything else. I wanted to refuse, but Hanyu didn't give up. "Ice shows have a lot of lighting, music, camera scheduling, and other things. They'll definitely help you transition into choreographing and directing. It's not a waste of your time. Come on! I'll even pay you a salary, and you'll just be working for me part-time."

She was inexplicably dragged into the ice show's preparations. Between her full-time job in the dance troupe and her unpaid part-time work, she was incredibly busy. Yet no one ever asked her why she was there: not Yuzuru Hanyu's family, the ice show staff, or his guests. It was as if her participation was as natural as breathing.

He sighed. He could choose not to answer Xu Tao's question, but not Guan Yue's.

"I just want to see how others collaborate on such a complex project." After organizing her thoughts, Le replied simply, "Consider this your ticket to watch this tutorial." Le pushed herself up from the sofa and went to the kitchen to heat up dinner. In just a few moments, the Line notification on her phone rang several times. She returned with the heated dinner, placed the bowl on the coffee table, picked up her phone, and turned it to silent mode. Then, she sat on the floor, leaning back against the sofa, and began to eat while reading messages.

Yuzu: Speaking of CWW, look what I found!

Yuzu: A photo gallery of outstanding CWW executives!

The photos he sent showed Le, wearing a CWW staff T-shirt and a headset, concentrating on his work. Each photo was candid, and since they didn't make eye contact, it seemed clear the subject was completely unaware they were being photographed.

Flipping through the photos one by one, Le quickly understood their origins: they must have been taken by Yuzuru Hanyu during his free time. He'd dodged the cameras of documentary photographers and media photographers, but not Hanyu himself. What a mistake.

Yuzu: There are also pictures of CWW executives slacking off! [Pictures][Pictures][Pictures]

Clicking on the next few photos Yuzuru Hanyu sent, I could barely hold my chopsticks. This round of photos didn't show me working diligently, but instead showed all sorts of strange looks: some dozing on a sofa in the backstage lounge, some sitting by the rink, spaced out, yawning from sleep.

[Raku: What kind of slacking off is this? You don’t even know the real fish you’re slacking off on~]

Yuzu: Are you talking about the time you choreographed the dance for "Wanderer's Song" while I was rehearsing it?

Ah...was he discovered?

It was Le's first time seeing Yuzuru Hanyu skate "Wanderer's Song" live. As an adult, Hanyu had more energy to complete more choreographic moves, and the Hungarian character dance elements were even more pronounced. Influenced by the music and his expressiveness from diligent rehearsals, Le also spontaneously improvised a short piece to the music in an unobserved corner of the rink.

Wasn't he rehearsing? How did he know this?

Guan Yue picked up the remote control to skip the scene of the Tangquan Palace bathing scene, which she disliked. But then she noticed some unusual behavior from Le. She was eating while checking her phone, occasionally putting down her chopsticks to hold the phone with both hands to reply to messages, smiling and pouting.

No matter how you look at this situation, there seems to be something going on, right?
