Chapter 47: Impact
"Grandma Keiko, Grandpa Sosuke, I'm leaving now." Yuzuru Hanyu politely bowed and greeted the two elderly people standing at the entrance. He peeked into the house and repeated loudly, "I'm leaving now."
"Okay, thank you for your hard work, Hanyu-kun."
Keiko's grandmother's polite response made Yuzuru Hanyu feel embarrassed to stand at the door for a long time. He nodded again, pushed the door open and left.
"Grandma, I'll take these boxes back to my room and pack them up."
As soon as the door clicked shut, Le ran upstairs, carrying several small cardboard boxes. Huizi's grandmother watched her run upstairs and nudged her husband with her elbow.
"Old man, this isn't right."
"What's wrong?" Grandpa Zongzhu tilted his head to look upstairs, but of course he saw nothing. "You must be tired after your busy trip. Go back to your room and rest early. Don't think too much, old woman."
"Only a nerd like you can't see it." Huizi's grandmother waved her hand, too lazy to pay attention to him, and began to tidy up the still somewhat messy living room.
This afternoon, the moving company packed the living room with boxes of all sizes. By the time Le and the others returned, most of the large boxes had been moved, leaving only a few smaller items. When the door opened, Huizi's grandmother was squatting over a small box, sorting things. She briefly glanced over her shoulder, her busy face catching the two people's expressions, and noticed something was amiss, but when she looked back, it was gone.
Yuzuru Hanyu quickly put down his backpack and the box in his hands, and quickly went to help Keiko's grandmother, with his usual smiling face.
It was just that the two of them didn't seem to communicate much, and they were silent during dinner. Huizi's grandmother initially thought she was overthinking it, but the fact that they didn't even say goodbye before leaving was obviously not right.
She looked upstairs and was about to go upstairs when she was stopped by Sosuke's grandfather.
"Alright, it's normal for kids to have a little tantrum. Don't go complain to Feng again. I think our Xiaole and Yuzuru are serious about this, so don't worry about it."
Le, who was upstairs, couldn't hear anything about the conversation between his grandparents downstairs.
She sat in the room, staring blankly at the boxes that had just been moved in, still thinking about what happened on the way back today.
After the voice message with Jiu was released, Hanyu Yuzuru finished watching the video and sat in silence for a long while before speaking: "Why didn't you tell me about your relationship with Niko before? I remember when you counted your exes, the first one wasn't named Niko! So why didn't you tell me?"
He spoke very quickly and asked a lot of questions in a row.
"Does dating at 15 count?"
Her words silenced Yuzuru Hanyu's numerous questions, and he remained silent the entire way, his expression a bit like, "I didn't expect you to evade me like that." Even when she asked him at the gas station if he needed to go to the restroom, he simply hummed a yes. Even back home, he was clearly reluctant to speak to her.
Thinking of this, Le became a little angry again.
"What? I'm jealous of everything..." She muttered to herself as she opened the cardboard box in front of her and took out the items one by one. As she counted them, she realized that some items were missing.
The phone that was placed aside suddenly rang. It was a LINE message.
Yuzu: I'm home.
[Raku: Yuzuru Hanyu! What the hell are you?!]
Staring at the incoherent replies on his phone, Yuzuru Hanyu laughed. He rubbed the Pusan in his hand and continued to flip through the treasures he hadn't finished.
When a young couple has a tantrum, it affects Pusang and other people.
Morimoto Kosuke doesn't have a deep enough understanding of this yet.
So when he saw Yuzuru Hanyu coming to the clinic alone, dragging his small box of ice skates, he deliberately pushed the door open and looked out.
"Hey~ Your girlfriend, who's a certified physical therapist, isn't here today?"
At this question, Yuzuru Hanyu's face darkened even further. Kosuke smiled and patted him on the back, expressing his sympathy. Little did he know that he was the one who needed the most sympathy.
"You don't know, that video just looks so wrong! She looked so shy when she looked at Niko! She even fixed her hair! The last time she went to watch the competition, it was the same..." Yuzuru Hanyu, who was lying on the massage bed, kept talking. When talking about the competition, he suddenly pushed his upper body up from the bed, "Ah! What he said that day was a declaration! Oh my god! I just found out!"
He said as he lay down again, covering his face with regret.
"Hanyu, if you plan to go on the ice soon, could you please behave yourself? I'm going to put you out of position!" Xiaojie warned him almost with gritted teeth, but Hanyu Yuzuru didn't seem to pay much attention and continued to mutter to himself.
"Le is the same, can't you tell me?"
"Look at you now, it's strange that she would tell you..."
"What's wrong with me?" Yuzuru Hanyu was unconvinced and tried to stand up again. However, Xiaojie slapped him down.
He handed a mirror to Yuzuru Hanyu.
"Look at your jealous face. If I were your girlfriend, I wouldn't tell you anything."
"Yue, who wants you to be my girlfriend?" Yuzuru Hanyu made a face and was immediately retaliated against. A sharp pressure was applied to the affected area on his calf, causing him to cry out in pain.
"I'm straight, thank you," Xiaojie replied expressionlessly, his grip unreservedly firm. Hanyu Yuzuru's retorts, "Who isn't straight?" He remained unmoved, continuing his own opinion: "For a beautiful girl like Xiaole, who has such a good personality, it's normal to have had several relationships. Who's like you, always alone?"
You're the truly lonely one… Yuzuru Hanyu wanted to say this, but his strength had just returned to normal, so he couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. He lay down again, his hands folded under his chin, and continued their conversation.
"Of course I know that... I don't want to be stingy. But..." He couldn't help but swallow the words and changed the subject, "I carefully looked through Le's yearbook at home last night. I looked through it all, but I didn't see any photo of Niko. Maybe he wasn't that important anyway." He recalled.
He did find some clues, though, in another of Le's ticket collections, dating back to the time she said she was around 15. There were a few tickets to an open-air ice rink and a few to a hockey game. There were no descriptions, just a collection of tickets.
But Yuzuru Hanyu intuitively feels that all this is related to Niko.
These tickets were stored in the same folder as the game tickets, ice show tickets, and staff IDs he had given her before. He still felt a little uneasy.
"Did Niko really teach her how to skate?" Yuzuru Hanyu's voice was muffled and a little depressed.
"Is this important?"
"Of course it's important! I've always wanted to teach my girlfriend how to skate..."
"You can't teach me now?" Xiaojie was a little confused. "Even you are still practicing and have a coach. Do you think your girlfriend can just move freely on the ice? Come on, get up."
"Right!" He patted the massage bed and sat up, looking up to see Xiaojie's face, which looked like "love makes people lose their IQ." He didn't care too much, but patted Xiaojie's shoulder with relief. "I didn't expect a single guy like you could give such good advice. Thank you for your help."
He said that before Xiaojie could explode, he quickly put on his coat, dragged his suitcase to the entrance to put on his shoes. Finally, after turning over and catching the paper ball thrown by Xiaojie, he closed the door and ran away laughing.
It was still early in the day before he was scheduled to go to the rink, but he had already decided where to go.
Arriving at the familiar ballet studio, he greeted the teacher at the door and left his suitcase in the teacher's office. He tiptoed to the dance studio inside and found the person he was looking for in the innermost dance studio.
Le sat in front of the dance studio mirror, reviewing her own recordings. She wasn't wearing pointe shoes today, wearing comfortable leggings and a T-shirt. Her hair wasn't neatly tied up. It looked like she wasn't in class today, but rather studying choreography. Her iPad's Bluetooth was connected to a small speaker at her feet, and Yuzuru Hanyu, standing outside the studio, could clearly hear her replaying the parts she wasn't satisfied with.
She frowned, quickly taking a screenshot with a pen, and highlighting any inappropriate parts. Putting the iPad down, she looked up in the mirror and saw Yuzuru Hanyu standing in the doorway.
After a brief eye contact, he had no intention of coming in to disturb her, so she returned to the middle of the classroom as planned and continued to solve the topic she had just recorded.
Watching her repeatedly experiment with different approaches, from large-scale body movements to the subtle expression of fingertips and toes, achieving ever-higher levels of perfection, Yuzuru Hanyu, hiding off-camera, only entered the classroom after seeing her press the stop button with satisfaction.
"Thank you for your hard work~"
"Why are you here?" Le wiped the sweat off his face with a towel.
"I think you should be here. I've made a reservation at the ice rink today. Can you come with me?" Hanyu Yuzuru casually took the down vest she had draped over the barre and put it on her. "Besides, there's somewhere I want to take you."
"Where are you going?"
"Don't ask, you'll know in a moment. Stretch quickly and I'll pack your things for you." As he spoke, his hands kept moving and he had already started helping her pack her bag.
His mysterious demeanor left Le a bit bewildered. He was clearly jealous yesterday, and hadn't even contacted her all day today. What was going on now? Had he figured it out?
Only when she followed him to Mr. Yoshida's shop outside the ice rink did she realize that she had really underestimated Yuzuru Hanyu's jealousy.
