Chapter 79 Prelude
Dealing with the media always seemed like an incredibly long process. After hanging up the phone, Le breathed a long sigh of relief, leaning back against the back of a front-row chair to support her strained back before standing. She quietly glanced at the empty stage, her gaze lingering for only a moment before she turned and left.
In the empty theater, the rhythmic footsteps revealed her urgency.
Someone is still waiting for her.
The joy of the upcoming meeting became immediately apparent when she saw the familiar car. Le fixed her hair in front of Grandpa Kikuchi's bone-setting clinic, leaning against the reflective glass door before pushing it open and going in. However, the situation inside froze the smile on her face.
Hejiu, who had been fine during rehearsal just now, now had bruises on his face, and the corners of his mouth were broken and bleeding. He sat on the sofa in silence, still looking stubborn and angry, while Xiaojie helped him apply medicine.
"What's going on?" Le exclaimed, coming over, pulling Xiaojie away and pinching Hejiu's chin to examine him from side to side. The leading actor who was going to perform in a few days had suddenly become disfigured.
He Jiu impatiently pulled Le's hand away and was about to speak when the wound at the corner of his mouth was touched, causing him to hiss.
"There was a fight." Xiaojie sighed, put aside the music that was affecting his treatment of the wounded, and explained to her what had just happened with a helpless look on his face.
Hyuga Rio, who was standing by and watching with concern, would occasionally help out.
Although they missed the exact cause of the fight because they were receiving physical therapy in the clinic, their description of the intense fight that followed was incredibly vivid, leaving Le speechless.
Yuzuru Hanyu and Kazuki Tohara don't get along. Although she has some feeling about this, based on her understanding of the two of them, they are definitely not the type to fight for no reason!
"Where's Yuzuru? Is he inside?" She went into the house and was grabbed by Xiaojie's arm.
"No, after I pulled them apart, he left out of anger." He continued to treat Kazuki's wound, "Oh, such a handsome guy, his face was disfigured, Yuzuru didn't hold back. You can't hit someone in the face..." He turned around and tried to find some support for his opinion, but when he turned around, he found that only Rio was standing behind him.
"Director Suginohara is gone too..."
"This couple is so cruel. They left without any mercy at all." Xiao Jie couldn't help but complain. Looking back, he saw He Jiu with bruises on his face. He couldn't help but feel sympathy. He treated the wound more gently. "Why did you do that? And start a fight?"
"He was the first to strike...hiss...be gentle..."
It was indeed Yuzuru Hanyu who made the first move.
He was sitting at home now, the joints in his hands still burning with pain, and every word He Jiu had said was still echoing in his head.
"Don't you know about Le's past? Who is she trying so hard to face the media for? Who did she accept the PR department's suggestion to expose her own scars? Isn't it just to dig out the rotten flesh of the past?"
"You're only focused on your own affairs, recovering from your injuries, changing jobs, and which of these things doesn't make her revolve around you? She's working hard every day to cheer herself up and support you. Who will support her?"
"I don't know when Le will wake up this time. I want you to quickly join her ex-boyfriend's formation."
I was furious, and the more I thought about it, the angrier I got.
The combination lock dinged, and Le pushed the door open, breathless. The room was dark, but the light from the hallway revealed Yuzuru Hanyu lying on the sofa. He sat quietly, oblivious to the noise at the door, not even glancing in his direction. Even in the dim light, Le could sense his anger.
But Le didn't care about all that now. He turned on the light in the living room with a click, and the whole house lit up.
"Are you hurt anywhere? Why did you fight with Hejiu?" Without waiting for his answer, she went up to check his condition nervously.
Yuzuru Hanyu's face was clean, not at all disheveled like Kazuki. If it weren't for the awkward wrinkles and untidy threads on his shirt and his messy hair, he wouldn't have looked like he'd been in a fight. He didn't appear injured, but Le knew Kazuki, so maybe he just didn't appear injured?
She reached out and pinched the hem of his shirt, and was about to lift it up to check, but Yuzuru Hanyu grabbed her hand.
"Let me see, what's wrong?" She just noticed that he was staring at her with a cold look in his eyes, which made her feel guilty for no reason. "Why are you looking at me..."
"You really don't have anything to tell me about that American reporter?"
He stared into her eyes without fail. The momentary evasion in her eyes and the smile that quickly formed disappointed him. Yuzuru Hanyu's eyes also became a little colder in her understated explanation.
He was really angry.
"Is that all? Just good luck?"
"Well... yes, the group handled it very well. You see the comments section on SNS is also very harmonious. Isn't it good luck?" Le felt a little guilty when he stared at her. She lowered her eyes and tried to pull his hand, but he dodged her.
"That's good. I'm fine. I'm very tired and I'm going to take a shower."
Yuzuru Hanyu swiftly entered the bathroom, leaving Le sitting alone in the living room, reflecting on himself. At least that was what he hoped, but it was clear she wasn't reflecting at all. He only took a few minutes to shower, and by the time he was getting dressed, she had already pushed open the door, carrying the ointment.
"Um... let me take a look at you..." Le pushed open the door and saw Yuzuru Hanyu who had changed into pajamas. He felt a little embarrassed for a moment, and his words to explain his intentions became a little hesitant.
"No need." Before she could finish, Yuzuru Hanyu said these two words coldly and walked out.
Le was in the bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror. He'd showered quickly, and even though the bathroom wasn't fogged up yet, the image of herself was a little blurry. She sniffed, put down the ointment in her hand, and reached for the buttons on her back. Normally, something she could easily fix, but today, it seemed like it was against her, the round buttons constantly escaping from her fingertips.
The stalemate in her struggle with the buttons was broken by Yuzuru Hanyu's intervention. He came over without a word and helped her unbutton the buttons in a few seconds.
"Thank you." Le said and looked up, but Yuzuru Hanyu had already left the bathroom.
The sound of water dripping in the bathroom was heard. Yuzuru Hanyu leaned against the headboard, holding his iPad. He tapped the screen with his knuckles when it went out, but he didn't read a single word of the information on it. His mind was filled with thoughts of Le's recent state.
She had always been so caring by his side, giving him enough patience and helping him sort out his plans for the future...
Now that he thought about it carefully, he had indeed seen Le alone in a daze more than once, but he hadn't noticed anything was wrong. What made him most angry today wasn't the provocation from He Jiu, but the fact that he found himself unable to refute those provocative words and could only use the most unreasonable method of punching him to shut him up.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped, and Yuzuru Hanyu woke up from his thoughts, put down his iPad, and lay down on his side. The bathroom door opened, and Le's footsteps approached. There were rustling sounds on the other side of the bed, and soon he could feel her lying behind him.
"Yuzuru..." She reached out and hugged his back.
She rested her forehead against his back, her voice soft and sweet like a coquettish kitten, which softened his heart. He raised his hand to cover hers, and just as he was about to speak, Le interrupted him with the next words.
"This matter is not complicated, and I have handled it so well now. Shouldn't you praise me?"
"..." The anger that had just subsided was ignited again by her, "Praise? Praise you for being so independent and not needing a boyfriend at all?" He still maintained the side-lying position, did not turn around to look at Le, but just grabbed her hand and took it away.
This obvious act of anger finally stretched Le's patience to its limit. She simply let go and, likewise, turned her back to the other side of the bed. The hardships she'd endured had left her feeling incredibly aggrieved. Before tears could flow, a phone call interrupted her. She glanced at the caller ID on her phone, then walked to the living room to answer it.
"Xiaojie, are Hejiu and the others settled? I'm sorry to have troubled you today... Is Hejiu's injury okay? I hope he won't be disfigured..." Before he could finish his words, his phone was snatched away by Yuzuru Hanyu.
He had come out, hearing the sound of a phone call, without even slippers on. He came out barefoot, his dark shirt-style pajamas untied, and he clearly didn't care about his crooked collar. With a sullen face, he said into the phone, "It's too late, we need to go to bed," and hung up.
"No, Yuzuru Hanyu, what on earth are you trying to do?" Le was now furious.
"I'm making a fuss? That's fine." He threw the phone onto the sofa with a trembling hand, grabbed Le's arm, carried her on his shoulder, and walked towards the bedroom.
"What are you doing?"
She struggled uncooperatively, causing Yuzuru Hanyu to lose control of the force he used to place her on the bed. Rather than putting her down, it was more like half-throwing her into the bed. The force of her landing on the bed stunned Le for a moment. Yuzuru Hanyu placed his hands on her sides, blocking her path and looking down at her.
He pursed his lips tightly, not saying a word. As he leaned forward, his hair obscured some of his features. Under the dim light of the bedroom, his expression looked particularly gloomy, and the sense of pressure he brought stunned Le for a moment. The grievances he had been carrying all night erupted completely in that instant, and tears welled up uncontrollably.
"Hanyu Yuzuru, you're going too far!..." She cried and accused, "What did I do wrong? I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry... I... You want to change your job, the pressure, the pressure is so great... I, I'm thinking about you... and you still treat me like this..."
"I, I really, really tried my best... I finally managed to handle it, but you didn't praise me and treated me like this. Yuzuru Hanyu, you, you bastard!"
