"Old Bai was so angry he had a stroke. It seems you've caused a huge disaster, Aunt."
Kovi silently hung up the phone, his gaze fixed on the pretty mature woman in front of him. He couldn't help but chuckle softly and put on his white gloves with remarkable ease.
Mrs. Merlin pursed her lips slightly, ignored Rickover, and waved her hand behind her.
The mixed-race vampire soldiers behind him immediately bowed their heads and retreated upon receiving the order.
Before long, the large crowd dispersed into small teams. Each team leader carried a digital tablet and scanned the ruins as they went.
If there is no response, they shake their heads in disappointment and move on to the next place.
If the screen flashes green, the group of mixed-blood vampires will shout excitedly, and then each of them will grab their tools and work hard to pry open the broken wall on the surface.
"Life detector... Ha, I see you guys really value human lives. It's true that the clan was right to start this war. You've really forgotten the glory of the vampire clan."
Merrill didn't respond, and Covey wasn't annoyed; instead, he looked up at her.
But the moment he saw the electronic device in the half-vampire's hand, he looked away in disgust, his expression strangely indescribable. Mrs. Merlin even thought that even if you put a can of herring in front of Covey, he might not react the same way.
Mrs. Merlin understood, but shook her head: "There are only a little over ten thousand pure-blooded vampires, and less than a hundred of them are engaged in education. But the number of half-blooded vampires is well over a million."
"It's because the vampire race can't afford their education, so you can't expect these children raised in human society to think the same way you do..."
"And what about you?"
Kovi crossed his arms and suddenly interjected, "You were raised entirely by your clan; these hybrid vampires all passed through your hands before entering human society."
"Look, they're even willing to mutiny for you. But you've never taught them about the civilization of the vampire race, letting them grow wildly under the ravages of human civilization!"
"That's neither destruction nor wild growth, watch your words, Covey!" Mrs. Merlin suddenly roared, disregarding her image, and abruptly lowered the oil-paper umbrella she was holding, the dark muzzle of the gun pointed directly at Covey's forehead.
Kovi paused for a moment, then laughed for some reason: "Isn't getting up at five in the morning before the sun has even risen considered torture?"
"Huh?" Mrs. Merlin was stunned, her expression frozen.
"The time for eating is less than twenty minutes at most. After school, we have to run laps. In order to finish our studies in time, I spent two hundred tins to buy bread, but it was not even half the size of a bread of the same price outside. Even though my stomach was growling with hunger, I still had to finish evening self-study. Then I dragged my half-dead body back to the dormitory, bit into a sleeping pill and swallowed it. By the time I fell asleep, I was no longer hungry."
“I have investigated all of this, my dear aunt. Isn’t this considered torture?”
Kovi fiddled with his fingers, glanced disdainfully at all the mixed-blood vampires around him, and finally fixed his gaze on Merlin.
Merlin remained silent for a long time, pondering for a while before finally remembering his purpose for coming here. He then decisively abandoned his thoughts and fired a shot.
Bang!
White smoke drifted from the tip of the umbrella. Through the smoke, Merlin saw Kovi raise his right hand, pale blue arcs of electricity flashing within his pristine white glove, a bullet tightly held between his index and middle fingers, the flames flickering on the bullet gradually extinguished under the pressure of the lightning.
At that moment, Meilin felt a chill in her heart.
"Although I had guessed this would happen, it still breaks my heart that you actually did it, Aunt!"
Ta-da!
The bullets landed on the ground, making a few crisp sounds as they struck the bricks and stones.
Kovi gave Mrs. Merlin a cold look and said, word by word, "The clan rules stipulate that it is forbidden for members of the same clan to kill each other."
"I'm sorry, Kovi. But I must rescue Hoshimi Miyabi today!"
Mrs. Merlin bowed slightly in apology, then a hint of determination flashed in her eyes. She lowered the oil-paper umbrella in her hand again, and rings of brilliant sparks shot out from it, spiraling towards Covey.
However, Kovi had no intention of hiding and walked towards the flames, only extending an arm just before the scalding heat hit him.
A violent burst of lightning immediately appeared, surrounding Kovi like a protective shield. This brute force forcefully dispersed all the flames that tried to approach.
“I told you you’re better suited to be an educator, Auntie.”
With a cold expression, Covey stepped forward without hesitation, his right hand reaching out repeatedly. No matter how much Mrs. Merlin struggled, she couldn't escape his hand.
Finally, Covey took a step forward with lightning speed, and Mrs. Merlin had no time to dodge, so Covey grabbed her by the neck.
"Hmm!"
Mrs. Merlin had some difficulty breathing, and even her muffled voice sounded like she had phlegm stuck in her throat.
"Although my aunt broke the rules, I still won't lay a hand on her. It's just that the drama of the tribe's division is over, and I think our side has a better chance of winning. It's better to just pretend that my aunt's backup plan didn't exist."
Covey gripped Mrs. Merlin's hand tighter and tighter, coldly asking, "What does Aunt think?"
