The vampire was overjoyed, staring in delight at the slender figure that had suddenly appeared before him. The thrill of escaping death left him speechless, and after a moment of stunned silence, he finally managed to stammer:
"I'm sorry, Uncle, I didn't notice where she was hiding."
Byrne glanced back at him, then turned back to fix his gaze on Yue Chengliu, his calm face showing no emotion whatsoever, and said indifferently:
"It's not your fault. She risked her life to hide in the fire. For us vampires, high temperatures are the best camouflage, so it's normal that you can't see her."
"Get out of here, this isn't a battle you can get involved in."
"oh."
The vampire gave a blank reply, nodded silently, and then turned and flew away.
If Yue Chengliu's guess is correct, he has probably gone to stir up trouble again. If he is allowed to continue, the entire Wildfire Town may be burned to ashes!
But now that Bourne is blocking our way, if we don't get rid of him, Yuecheng Liu has no chance to stop the fire from spreading.
Suddenly, Bourne moved, and Yuecheng Liu's body tensed up, ready for battle.
However, Bourne did not seem to intend to take direct action.
He even conjured a chair made of solid ice with a single step, pushed himself up with his wings, and casually ascended to sit atop it, looking down at Yue Chengliu with a haughty air, and muttered:
"As you know, Miss Yuecheng Liu, we are both clerical staff and we all dislike fighting. Why don't we sit down together? Your side will have one less deputy section chief, and our side will have one less researcher. Let the subordinates handle the fighting. Why not?"
Unfortunately, Yuecheng Liu did not agree to the proposal.
She tightened her grip on the naginata, her gaze sweeping over Bourne from head to toe, as if observing whether he had revealed any weaknesses.
Seeing this, Byrne couldn't help but sigh softly: "In the end, we still have to fight. Why should a researcher like me go to the front lines?"
"I originally thought that after being half-crippled by Fagar, I wouldn't have to continue fighting, but the clan actually healed me."
Just as Bourne was speaking, Yuecheng Liu Yu stomped her foot on the ground, her figure transforming into an arc of lightning, the sharpness of her naginata almost blinding people.
But Bourne seemed oblivious, sighing softly as he touched his half-disfigured face, his other hand gripping the armrest of the icy chair beneath him.
Instantly, the veins on Bourne's arms bulged, and the armrests creaked.
"Fortunately, I had anticipated this outcome from the beginning."
Bang!
The chair exploded with a deafening roar, transforming into a suit of armor that enveloped Bourne. Faintly, one could hear the boiling sound of the blood within Bourne's body burning beneath the armor.
"Die!"
Yuechengliu's expression condensed.
In an instant, the blade's edge collided with the ice armor.
The flickering sparks paused for a moment, then were quickly blown even higher by the hurricane!
Elsewhere on the battlefield, Yuuma and Aokaku also emerged from the flames at the same time.
Nicole, carrying a bulging suitcase, laughed wildly because it was stuffed full of money given to her by the military.
Even with several vampires baring their fangs in front of her, she remained fearless and shouted:
"Nekomata, Asaba, Anton, Caesar, Bernice, Wright, you go first, I'll be your solid support!"
(There must be someone who doesn't know that Yuuma's full name is Asaba Yuuma, right?)
