Chapter 226 Weird Appraisal

"Newcomer, what field are you in?"

Sister Zhou Zhou roughly arranged the work, then gave Baimu a pair of rubber gloves and asked Luffy to help him familiarize himself with the work content.

Luffy, the bald strong man, took Bai Mu into the studio next door.

The interior and the lounge are completely different styles.

The studio is so spacious that if it weren't for the roof, Bai Mu would even think it was on a grassland.

The studio is filled with tables of various sizes, each with some tools on it.

Some are modern handicrafts, paintings, sculptures and the like. They cannot be considered antiques, but they are works by masters and are very valuable.

However, the majority are bronze, iron, or steel seals.

In addition to these, there are several huge objects covered with white cloth. Judging from the exposed metal parts, they should be some kind of machines.

To be honest, Bai Mu doesn't understand these things at all.

Bai Mu took a deep breath and put on gloves.

He had done a lot of part-time jobs before, but he was still a little nervous about such a formal job that required him to use his professional skills.

"I'm a fine arts major, so I might be able to identify paintings more accurately."

Luffy didn't look back, just nodded.

"Paintings? Very good, they're! Our appraisal department is lacking someone who can appraise paintings. But there haven't been many paintings lately. Newbie, you should give me a hand first and learn about the appraisal process."

Luffy said as he walked under a table and took out some small tools.

Bai Mu nodded dumbly. He knew nothing about appraisal. If he was asked to do the appraisal right away, something might go wrong.

"What are these?"

Luffy was holding a small hammer and a soft-bristled brush in his hands.

Bai Mu asked, looking at the two gadgets in confusion.

"Oh, I'm a mechanics major. Today I'm going to appraise some ancient machines that were retrieved from the Void."

"As you know, machines are made of metal. If they're left in a cavity for too long, they'll inevitably be corroded or oxidized by the ether. So before we officially inspect them, we'll try to repair them to the best possible condition, ideally one that's usable."

As he spoke, he danced with his hands and knocked at the air with a soft brush and a small hammer.

It looks like a gorilla dancing, which is a bit funny.

Bai Mu nodded, "Then, what should I do?"

He looked at his empty hands. Since he was just an assistant, he should do something.

He knew that hard work pays off, and Mr. Polo was definitely not paying him 40 million denarii a month just to eat and do nothing.

Luffy thought about it, put down the small hammer and touched his bald head.

"Honestly, I usually do this job alone, so here's what I'm going to give you."

He thought about it and took out an iron plate from his bag and handed it to Baimu.

"This is?"

"Just catch the screws I throw to you and put them down in the order they're numbered on the plate. Easy, huh?"

Luffy grinned.

"That's all?"

Baimu was a little surprised. Is it just collecting screws?

"Yeah, since you're new here, you should do some simple tasks first to get familiar with them. If you start with something difficult, it will undermine your confidence."

Luffy said nothing more, took the soft-bristled brush and the small hammer, and slung the bag he had taken from under the table over his shoulder as he walked towards the huge white cloth in the distance.

Bai Mu also followed behind, his eyes occasionally looking at the objects placed around him.

An object quickly caught his attention.

It was a goblet, a goblet of pure gold.

It’s not that he suddenly became greedy or had any bad intentions, he just felt that this goblet was very familiar.

He was so familiar with it that he could tell that there was a sheep horn pattern carved inside just by looking at the outer outline, and he was also sure that this goblet was used to hold fingernails.

This feeling,

Very strange.

It's like you've used it yourself.

He became more and more dazed as he looked, and didn't notice that a cane at his feet blocked his way.

Just as he was about to kick the cane, Luffy's voice brought him back to reality from his thoughts.

"Ahem, that goblet arrived the day before yesterday. We've looked at it many times but still can't figure out its origins. However, we can confirm that it's from an ancient civilization. No, it should be said to be something from the ancient civilization period."

Bai Mu came back to his senses, stepped over his cane and nodded thoughtfully, "Yeah."

He shifted his gaze from the goblet and continued to look at other objects.

"Newcomer, the further back something goes, the more ancient it seems. We appraisers are often amazed at how these things came from with such advanced technology."

Luffy introduced enthusiastically,

The further Bai Mu walked, the more confused he became.

Because the more he looked back, the more familiar those things seemed to him, as if he had owned them before.

You can even easily tell the origin of something just by looking at it.

He was sure that this was not some superpower he had suddenly awakened.

But he couldn't explain why he had this feeling.

Their thoughts proved fruitless, and the two chatted about random things until they came to the huge white cloth.

Bai Mu tilted his head and looked behind the white cloth, where countless objects were displayed.

"So, you're scared, right?"

"The main reason is that there are too many items being auctioned. Even if our appraisal department worked 24 hours a day, it wouldn't be enough to improve the auction efficiency, so there is a backlog of items. Also, not every item can be appraised, so many items with doubts are temporarily put aside and sent back."
