Chapter 62 A bowl of ramen for three thousand dinners

In the morning, there were actually not that many cases on Fourteenth Street, so Baimu was relatively free.

"Actually, the cases aren't that numerous or even overwhelming. It's actually quite amusing to drive around in a police car and have other cars give way when they see me."

Nicole said as she parked the police car at a nearby ramen shop, "Want something to eat?"

"I remember you haven't had breakfast yet."

Bai Mu nodded, "Let's go."

He looked at the robber behind him and asked, "Are you hungry?"

The robber lowered his head and nodded, "Hungry."

Several people got out of the car. Nicole came to the ramen restaurant but did not order immediately. Instead, she walked into the alley next to it.

The robber looked at Bai Mu, "Officer, what is she doing?"

Bai Mu untied the robber's bracelet and said, "I don't know, but I don't have any money now. I have to wait for her to pay before I can eat. Wait a moment."

"You won't run away again, will you?"

The robber looked at Baimu with gratitude in his eyes. This guy was really thinking about him wholeheartedly. When he arrived at the ramen shop, he couldn't even take out money for a bowl of ramen.

"No, officer, you're such a good man. Don't worry, I will work hard in prison and pay you back all the money I owe you."

Bai Mu looked at him and said, "Do you think the Public Security Bureau is bad?"

Although a little embarrassed, the robber still spoke: "Actually, the Public Security Bureau used to be very good. There was a very good chief. But after he survived the Hollow, his personality changed drastically. He must be the chief who just spoke to you on the intercom."

"Alas, he's severely punished for any minor offense. It's making life miserable for the people of Fourteenth Street. I heard he's running for mayor recently. How can someone like him be mayor? It's despicable."

Soon, Nicole walked out of the alley, followed by a group of half-grown kids, about thirty of them. These kids were all wearing tattered clothes and had their heads down.

"Come, sister will treat you to ramen."

"Sister! I want to eat lobster!"

"I want to eat lion's head."

Nicole nodded, "All of them, all of them, sister has money."

She shook her phone and the balance appeared in front of the children.

"Wow, so many Dingni, thank you sister!"

The group of kids rushed into the ramen shop to order. Shiraki looked at Nicole and said, "Don't you like Dinny very much?"

Nicole nodded, "Yeah, what's wrong?"

Baimu was also a little puzzled. Nicole always seemed to be obsessed with money. How could she take out money to treat these homeless children to food?

He pointed at the group of children and said, "Well, these... a meal would cost at least 100,000 denarii, right?"

Nicole shrugged, "I'd love to."

"None of your business, come on, go in and eat."

Several people walked into the ramen shop, and Nicole shouted, "Boss, a bowl of bone broth ramen, what do you want to eat, Shiraki?"

Shiraki looked at the menu. The cheapest item was bone broth ramen. Simply put, it was vegetarian noodles with bone broth and vegetables without any side dishes.

"Bone broth ramen."

Nicole looked at the robber, "What about you?"

The robber pointed at himself and asked, "Do I have a share?"

"I, I'll just have bone broth ramen too. Thank you."

After they sat down, Bai Mu looked at Nicole.

Nicole looked uncomfortable, "What's wrong?"

Bai Mu shook his head. "Nothing. Do you often treat these children to meals?"

Nicole shrugged. "Of course. Everyone has hard times. I grew up in an orphanage. Now that I have money, treating these children to a meal is like treating my past self. I'm happy to do it."

"Hey, Baimu, I saw that your file says you're an orphan. Have you ever been to an orphanage? Maybe we came from the same orphanage."

Nicole was talking and laughing.

Bai Mu shook his head. "No, I was kicked out of the orphanage. I was very thin when I was little. No matter how much I was fed, I was still extremely weak. The director kicked me out after only half a month."

"And then?"

Nicole looked at Baimu curiously. This guy was full of secrets.

Bai Mu: "Then? Then I just wandered around."

"I picked up trash, fought with dogs for dog food, and even recruited a bunch of followers... Well, later on, we did whatever work we could together, like cleaning the kitchen, taking out the trash, and so on, and saved up some money."

"And then they gave me all the money and let me go to school, that's it."

Nicole squinted her eyes.

"That's not easy at all. You said before that your father is a book, so your father really is a book?"

Bai Mu nodded, "A pirated novel with a white cover and no title."

"From books, I learned how to read, how to live, how to behave in society, and also learned the code of gentlemanliness."

Nicole felt a little distressed when she heard this.

"So you just survived like this?"

Suddenly, the robber blinked and looked at Bai Mu with tears in his eyes, "Brother?"

"You, you, you are Bai Mu?"

Bai Mu looked at the robber, "Who are you?"

The robber lowered his hood and pointed to his face, which had a long scar. "It's me, Scar."

"Have you forgotten? I was stealing food from someone else's kitchen and was kicked out. Not only that, I was stabbed in the face with a knife. You were the one who sewed up the wound for me."

Bai Mu looked at this guy and felt a little amused, "Scar?"

This guy, when he came out to handle a case, he even met his childhood friend.

Scar laughed and said, "Hahahaha, it's really you, brother. I was wondering why the words 'Gentleman's Code' sounded so familiar. You were so skinny when you were little, but now you're tall and strong."
