Chapter 14 He didn't believe this fool's sweet talk.
Bao'e said, "Brother, don't joke. The mountain road is rugged. Even my master finds it difficult to ride a horse. You are sickly and weak. How could you possibly travel such a long distance to get here?"
The young master Gao leaned against the door, his eyes lowered, truly wanting to speak but tears welling up before he could.
"Bao'e, are you doubting my piety?" He held her hand and whispered, "I don't have the strength to keep up with you, and I'm afraid I'll run into that harmful demon. We haven't stopped all the way, and I've exhausted several horses."
Bao'e's eyes welled up with tears as she listened, unable to stop thinking about his hardships.
Young Master Gao wiped away the tears from her cheeks and asked her, "I see the candlelight flickering in your room. It's so late at night, why aren't you asleep?"
Bao'e thought of Nie Guiyu.
“My master and I are staying at this deserted temple. We’ll be leaving tomorrow morning. The horse has been traveling for many days and is tired. It’s just been sleeping soundly all day without eating or drinking. I’m worried it will starve and won’t be able to carry my master. I’d like to go and let the horse graze some more.” She pulled him into the room. “You sit here. I’ll go and let the horse graze. I’ll come back to see you after it’s eaten and drunk its fill.”
She hurriedly tried to leave, but Young Master Gao wouldn't let go.
He said, “Bao’e, it’s the middle of the night, and we can’t see where the horses are or where the fodder is. How are we supposed to let them graze? I have a fine horse. Why don’t we let the Holy Monk ride it? That would ease the sorrow of not being able to go to the Western Paradise with you.”
Bao'e shook her head: "That monk is riding a dragon horse, which is incomparable to an ordinary horse. Brother, let go of me quickly so that it won't starve."
He wouldn't let go, a hint of sorrow on his face: "Bao'e, to tell you the truth, I left home without my father's knowledge, hoping only to see you one more time. I'm leaving tomorrow morning. In such a brief encounter, which is more important, the horse or me?"
"The longer you're gone, the less I'll see you. Bao'e, it's not too late to visit you after I'm gone."
“Bao’e,” the young master Gao paused, “you insist on going, is there perhaps someone waiting for you?”
His words were subtle, his eyes were lifeless, and he exuded a sinister aura.
It turns out that this "Young Master Gao" was actually Nie Guiyu in disguise.
He didn't believe the fool's sweet talk and secretly planned to expose her lies, which is why he transformed into Gao Cuilan to test her.
Young Master Nie thought that, regardless of whether she wanted to stay or leave, her rock-solid "Mount Sumeru Heart" had already been shaken.
He couldn't tell whether he felt fear or anticipation, nor did he want to think about it. He was just waiting for her to speak so he could mock her sins with a cold laugh.
Nie Guiyu was truly frozen in place, unsure how to react.
Bao'e, unaware that he was an imposter, mistook him for her husband of several years and tilted her head back to kiss him.
This was a familiar routine she used to do with that young master Gao. She kissed him on the lips, then breathlessly let out a soft moan.
Nie Guiyu, however, was unfamiliar with the situation. In the blink of an eye, his face turned red, and a tingling sensation spread from his tailbone, leaving his body stiff.
Bao'e didn't know, so she took his hand and pressed it to her heart, coaxing him: "Good brother, just look and listen, and you'll know I'm not lying. This is all about you, and there's no one else to see."
Nie Guiyu's hand, guided by her, pressed against his heart.
His eyes flickered, and he suddenly stood up, his face flushed red.
Bao'e also got up, almost falling over in the process.
Bao'e was so startled that she asked him in a panic, "Brother, why did you stand up without making a sound? Have you gone mad?"
Nie Guiyu gritted his teeth and refused to reveal his true form.
Seeing that the time had passed, he said, "It's nothing. I just remembered that my servant also left home with me and is still waiting outside the temple. Now that I've met him, I'll be going now."
He turned and walked away quickly, leaving Bao'e standing there motionless.
She thought to herself: This young man probably didn't enjoy the mountain path enough and will have to turn back.
Bao'e stopped thinking about him, remembered what Young Master Nie had said, and hurried into the hall.
Unfortunately, when she arrived, the place was already dimly lit and deserted.
She was anxious and irritable, sighing repeatedly, "What should I do? What should I do? I can't attend to both places, and both are causing delays."
She cursed inwardly for being so impatient, unwilling to wait even a moment longer, and thinking that he was not sincere at all!
Finding no one in the room, she had no choice but to return, but she immediately forgot her worries and slept soundly through the night.
The next morning, Bao'e went to eat vegetarian food, but still couldn't find Nie Guiyu, so she asked the servant.
The servant said, "Young master has fallen ill and is lying in bed unable to move."
What kind of illness is it?
"Old illness".
"I've only heard of tuberculosis and madness. What kind of disease is this old disease?"
"It was the illness he had before he was born."
Bao'e scolded, "You little servant, how can you be so unreasonable! He had this illness before he was born, does that mean he's dead?!"
The servant just chuckled and didn't say anything.
"Go away! Go away! Go away!" Bao'e chased him away, abandoning all distractions and focusing on eating vegetarian food.
After she finished eating, she remembered Young Master Nie and went to see him.
She followed the servant to Nie Guiyu's residence.
The room was filled with luxurious items and elaborate furnishings, indicating that it belonged to a wealthy family.
The bed was covered by a gauze curtain, obscuring the view inside.
Bao'e hurried inside, but the person inside the tent heard the noise, mistook her for a servant, and called out indistinctly, "Go out, there's no need to come in."
"Brother, it's me." Bao'e didn't stop, and walked even faster.
"You?" Young Master Nie recognized her and said angrily, "You must leave! You absolutely must leave! Go now, and don't cause any more trouble!"
A fragrant pillow was thrown from the tent and landed right in her arms.
Bao'e hugged the pillow, stepped forward and pulled back the curtain, saying, "Brother, are you blaming me for what happened last night? If you're angry, you don't have to ask why, but you need me to explain."
The curtain was pulled back, and she saw Young Master Nie slumped on the couch, his black hair disheveled.
Yesterday I saw him with the ethereal beauty of a celestial being descending from heaven, but today he's become a paper-thin beauty, sickly and breathless.
Her face was as white and soft as jade, her complexion as withered as a begonia, instantly captivating her and stirring her desires.
"You filthy creature, are you deaf?" he shouted with difficulty. "I told you to leave, why did you lift up my curtain? Leave now, I'll have someone escort you out!"
As he spoke, he pulled the blanket over himself, as if trying to hide something.
Bao'e assumed he was angry that she hadn't kept their appointment, so she suppressed her lust and retorted angrily, "Although I am somewhat honest and kind, I am not one to be beaten and scolded like this. Last night I waited for you all night, but you didn't come. Before I even asked why, you came to scold me. How unreasonable!"
The monster, convinced she was lying, sneered, "So you've been waiting all night? Have you gone gray from waiting, or are you waiting in the wrong place?"
She became even angrier and said angrily, "When you hide under the covers like this, buzzing like a mosquito, I can't hear you, I can't hear you!"
Good Bao'e, with all her strength, grabbed his blanket and yanked it hard, then tore it apart!
Caught off guard, Young Master Nie heard a "whoosh" and watched helplessly as the bedding was torn in two.
