Chapter 23 "Delicious, delicious!"...
Zhu Bao'e followed the little demon to Nie Guiyu's bedroom.
But no one was in the room.
The little demon turned and left, pacing around in the room.
After a while, she suddenly remembered the pilgrim's words and went to look for the judge's pen.
The room is no longer in its previous dilapidated state; it has been completely repaired.
There was a large vase by the door, and she looked inside.
It was completely empty inside.
She went straight to the wooden table to the side, lifted each ornament, and searched through them one by one.
But all their efforts yielded no results.
A moment later, Bao'e was crawling into a lacquered red cabinet when she suddenly heard voices outside the door.
Where is the King?
"He's been soaking in the medicinal pool for almost half an hour, and hasn't returned yet."
"This is difficult, very difficult. If he doesn't inhale some foul air, what's the point of soaking him in medicine?"
"..."
Bao'e crawled out of the closet, peered furtively out the window.
They were a bunch of little devils who looked like bandits.
They walked around the corridor and were heading outside.
Good Bao'e, pinch the tip of her right ear, pull and tug it, stretching it into a pig's ear like a awning, so that she can hear the sounds in the distance.
"Why doesn't Your Majesty eat that monk?"
"What a foolish village chief! That monk can't exorcise the turbid energy if he doesn't have inner demons. How can Your Majesty eat him?"
"What a pity, what a pity! In just two days, that monk must have lost so much flesh. Ah, if only I could have a bite..."
"If you dare to take one bite, why not take two more? You'll burst from being a meat thief!"
A burst of laughter erupted.
Bao'e tugged at her ear and grumbled, "That monk just chants scriptures day and night without a care in the world. He doesn't know how many demons are eyeing his flesh. Master, I'm not scolding you, but why do you chant those useless scriptures all day long? Why don't you learn some magic to regenerate flesh? If you encounter a demon that wants to eat you, just cut off a piece of your flesh for it, and you'll never run into trouble again!"
Meanwhile, several bandits harbored malicious intentions.
One said, "With the king gone and the monk unguarded, why not take this opportunity to kill him, eat his flesh and drink his blood, thus achieving immortality and escaping the king's control from this hellish place!"
“Nonsense, nonsense!” another cursed. “If the king finds out, he will be furious and suffer endless torment.”
Silence followed.
Not hearing any voices, Bao'e assumed they had gone far away and stretched her ears even further.
Suddenly, one of the bandits said, "If we don't kill him, cutting off a few pieces of flesh will be done without anyone noticing."
"Oh my god! Master, they really want to urge you to practice that magic!" Bao'e was so frightened that she quickly rubbed her ears back and shook her head.
She didn't wait for Young Master Nie anymore; she picked up a nearby stick and chased after the thieves.
"You scoundrel, stop right there!" she shouted angrily.
The group of thieves stopped, each one looking fierce and menacing.
Good Bao'e, not intimidated at all, raised her stick and struck: "You bunch of scoundrels, you're incredibly audacious, daring to plot against my master's flesh. Don't run away, take this!"
The bandits were not afraid of her because of her slender figure, but they were surprised to find that she was incredibly strong. With one sweep of her stick, she caused the brains of two or three of the robbers to splatter.
The others were terrified and scattered in all directions, but Bao'e, in a fit of pique, laughed happily, "Hahaha! This is so much fun! Don't run, don't run!"
She lashed out wildly, her screams of pain never ceasing.
After she finished, she sat down on the edge of the corridor, panting, wiping her sweat haphazardly, and muttered to herself, "What a great achievement! It really wore me out. The rake is still the best; it easily made several holes."
He added, "At least the monk didn't see it. Otherwise, he would have accused me of murder and be scrambling to find the authorities in this deserted temple."
She was too lazy to clean up the corpse, so she dragged the stick and walked back.
When they arrived at the house, Young Master Nie had already returned, accompanied by a bandit with a deathly pale face and tears streaming down his face.
Upon seeing her, the bandits immediately cried out, "It's her! Your Majesty, this woman is incredibly vicious; she has killed countless of us! Your Majesty, capture her quickly and avenge those wronged souls!"
Bao'e stopped laughing, ignoring the sinister-looking Nie Guiyu, and cursed the thief: "You cowardly scoundrel! You don't have the guts to seek revenge against me, so why did you hire a helper!"
Then Young Master Nie asked, "Was it really you who killed all my servants?"
Bao'e then shifted her gaze to examine his face more closely.
But most of his face was hidden in the shadows, so his expression was impossible to discern.
She thought to herself that she had gotten herself into trouble and that he would definitely kill her because of those bandits.
Or perhaps eat it raw!
The fool, oblivious to the good intentions, nodded and said, "Exactly, exactly, one blow will wipe them all out. Fewer people means less work for you."
These words enraged the robber, who jumped up and down in a frenzy.
Nie Guiyu remained motionless: "Your killing them is the same as your attempt to kill me that day; are you conspiring with others to plot against me?"
"Brother, you've lost your mind," Bao'e said angrily. "I told you long ago that I wouldn't do such deceitful things. I didn't know that the sword pouch could hurt people. If it really came down to a fight, I'd be fighting you right now with just a stick."
Upon hearing this, Young Master Nie appeared dazed.
"Yes, you said that that day."
He remained silent, which only frustrated the robber, who kept giving him meaningful glances.
Nie Guiyu interrupted coldly: "No need to say anything more."
The robber thought he was angry and was delighted.
Bao'e then realized what was happening and was afraid he would seek revenge. She picked up the stick to weigh it, and looked around to find a place to hide.
Unexpectedly, Young Master Nie said, "Great knowledge is useless. Being killed is at least a way to keep things peaceful."
The robber was shocked and was about to argue when the man used a dark spell to kill him and his soul.
It turned out that these servants were the same band of robbers who had harmed him in his previous life.
At that time, he was practicing and recuperating in this deserted temple when he was robbed and killed by a group of bandits. After his death, only a lonely soul remained, wandering in this temple.
Later, he evaded the underworld messengers, stole the soul-snatching rope and the judge's pen, and trapped the band of robbers here. He used the soul-snatching rope to hook them and make them his servants, beating and scolding them as he pleased, which was also a form of revenge.
Bao'e, however, was unaware that he was a ruthless killer. She wasn't afraid, but just muttered to herself, "He's a hero who only kills his own people. Luckily, that monk didn't see him. Otherwise, no matter if he's a ghost or a demon, he would have to be handed over to the authorities to see the magistrate."
Young Master Nie said, "Those servants were easy to manage, why did you kill them?"
“It wasn’t out of selfishness on my part. That beast plotted to eat my master, so I sent them to their next life with a single blow.”
Nie Guiyu said in a sinister tone, "Your master is quite handsome and has a clear mind."
Bao'e: "I was born beautiful, I was born beautiful, but I can't help it because I always look like a crybaby. I'm so worried!"
Upon hearing this, his expression softened slightly.
“Not a likable person,” he said.
The fool remained motionless, stunned and silent.
Nie Guiyu stared straight at her, a pang of sadness rising in his heart.
Now he is experiencing both genuine joy and genuine hatred, which is truly distressing.
He restrained himself from approaching, only hating that the group of thieves had made him look like a ghost.
But as he exhaled that breath of melancholy, he thought how fortunate he was to be like this, otherwise what difference would there be between him and Gao Cuilan, who would one day waste away in vain in his short life?
Thinking of Gao Cuilan, he suddenly felt moved.
A thin, ghostly figure stood up silently. He said, "You used to look more hungry than a starving ghost, but now I haven't seen you ask about breakfast. What's wrong? Just because you heard the monks in the Buddhist hall chanting a few sutras, you decide to become a hermit who endures hunger and hardship?"
Bao'e sighed, "Brother, you have no idea how much I've suffered."
Thinking of the swordsman who was from the same school as her, she couldn't sleep well last night. She saw the pillar as her master, the spider web on the beam as her master, and even the tiny speck of dust floating in the air as him.
But she was usually carefree, and now she put that aside again, patting her empty belly, and said, "I am hungry, brother, arrange some vegetarian food. After I've eaten my fill, you can think about eating me later, at least let me die with a full stomach."
Young Master Nie then took out a pen from his sleeve.
Bao'e recognized it as the Judge's Pen and cursed inwardly: No wonder she couldn't find it; he had hidden it in his sleeve. What a stingy fellow! He has a treasure but won't show it to anyone!
She darted her eyes left and right, plotting how to take it, but Young Master Nie had already drawn a Taoist gate in the air and then put away his judge's pen.
He led her into the family.
The interior of the gate also resembles a temple.
Bao'e thought the two of them had left the illusory realm, so she looked around, searching for Wukong.
But after observing for a while, she sensed something was wrong.
The temple is still the same temple, but it is newer and more beautiful.
It was not as gloomy as before, but rather resembled the old days.
Nie Guiyu remained silent, leading her through pavilions and terraces to a vegetarian meal.
Upon arriving at the destination, the simpleton was overjoyed to see rice and noodles on the table, along with countless vegetarian fruits and dishes. He happily sat down and ate his fill.
As Nie Guiyu watched her eat, he suddenly remembered that back then, Young Master Gao had also sat at the same table with her, eating vegetarian food.
He was a little jealous of her, and suddenly called out, "Bao'e."
Bao'e was busy stuffing rice noodle soup into her mouth and didn't say a word, only glancing at him.
He asked, "How's the food?"
"Delicious, delicious!"
Who are you eating with right now?
"Brother, you're being foolish. There are only the two of us in this room. Could there be some other unseen ghost here?"
“That’s me.” Nie Guiyu sat closer to her. “Who am I?”
Bao'e thought to herself that this ghost was truly pitiful; once it went mad, it even forgot who it was.
She busied herself drinking a bowl of soup and cleaning two plates of vegetables. Perhaps she was half full, when suddenly a thought struck her, and she slowly said, "Brother, you now share my surname, Zhu, and your given name is Xiaoqian. So you should be called Zhu Xiaoqian."
"You're talking nonsense again!" Young Master Nie raised his sleeve to stop her from touching her chopsticks. "You don't even remember arranging the vegetarian meal. I don't think you need to eat this meal."
Bao'e became anxious and hurriedly pushed his hand away, saying, "I remember, I remember, it's engraved in my heart."
She called his name several times, and all she heard was a smile on Young Master Nie's face.
He asked, "Am I alone?"
Bao'e nodded quickly: "Only one!"
“That’s right, I’m all alone right now.” Nie Guiyu’s frustration gradually eased, and he stopped stopping her. When she was eating, he half-embraced her and lowered his head to kiss her cheek repeatedly. “Good Bao’e, eat slowly.”
"We can't wait, we can't wait." Bao'e didn't care about him and let him kiss her indiscriminately, refusing to spare a single glance. "If we wait too long, it will get cold, and cold food is the worst to eat."
