Chapter 34 "Brother, what's up?" ...
In the evening, Bao'e strolled around.
The traveler said he hadn't found any precious fruit, but she didn't believe him and insisted on going to find it herself.
Just as she strolled to the elder's room, the elder called out to her, "Wumiao, what are you doing wandering around like this?"
Bao'e rambled on: "I need to find some vegetables so I can cook later."
Sanzang disapproved, saying, "Although they are a group of Taoist priests who grow their own food, these fruits and vegetables belong to their temple. Taking them without permission is stealing. How can they be used for cooking?"
“That’s right, that’s right.” Bao’e nodded blankly. “Master is practicing with his senior brother, becoming a monk who can live on air.”
Sanzang scolded, "You fool, you have no manners at all! How dare you treat this poor monk like this?"
Bao'e chuckled to herself, pointing at him and saying, "Shameless, shameless, you actually expect me to make food out of thin air."
The elder was so angry that he frowned and sighed repeatedly.
Just as Bao'e was about to leave, she suddenly saw a handsome young man carrying a jar walking slowly towards her.
Upon seeing such a beautiful appearance, she was slightly tempted, but before she could set off, she remembered that the elder was still there.
She lowered her head and stared blankly at a clump of wild grass under the window.
The man smiled and walked straight towards her.
He stopped and asked, "What is the female bodhisattva looking for with her head bowed like this?"
Bao'e said blankly, "Rice seedlings."
How do we find rice seedlings?
"Plant rice seedlings, and when the rice ripens, we'll be able to coax that monk into eating."
"Wumiao, you're talking nonsense again!" Sanzang shouted, then put his palms together and said to the man, "Please don't be offended, benefactor. My disciple is a bit foolish, but he has a kind heart."
The man chuckled and said, "It's nothing. Having such a disciple is just good luck for the master."
"Amitabha, as long as I don't get into any trouble."
The man raised an eyebrow and glanced at Bao'e, his eyes revealing a captivating charm.
"The little Bodhisattva said she wanted to eat. I happen to have some fragrant rice, as well as fried gluten, wood ear fungus, tofu, and vegetables. Would the female Bodhisattva like some?"
Bao'e raised her head.
Just as she was about to ask what it tasted like, she suddenly saw the man's face and was so startled that she quickly scurried into the house.
"Master, you've been in trouble!" She grabbed Sanzang and whispered to him, "He's here looking for someone!"
"Whom are you looking for?"
“The woman that my eldest brother killed!” Bao’e pointed to the person outside the window. “Look, this person looks seven or eight parts like that woman. He must be her brother who is a tailor.”
Sanzang was so flustered that he clasped his hands together and said, "Excellent, excellent! Wukong said that woman was a demon, and I believed him. Now that her brothers have come looking for her, they are clearly human. What should we do, what should we do! Alas, what a wicked creature!"
“Master, stop chanting. The dead cannot be brought back to life. Let’s hear what he has to say first.” Bao’e asked the man, “You’re carrying a jar and walking around. Are you looking for someone?”
The man nodded and said, "Looking for you."
The idiot didn't understand: "Brother, what's up with looking for me?"
The man then explained that his name was Bai Gu and that he had spent several years in Fuling Mountain.
At that time, she married Mao Erlangjun, and he even went to have a drink with her. However, he had a minor disagreement with Mao Erlangjun and was unable to exchange more than a few words with her.
I've come to her now, firstly to deliver vegetarian food, and secondly to have clothes made for her.
Bao'e couldn't recall this person, and simply nodded: "Mao Er does have a temper."
She then said to Sanzang, "Master, he seems like a good person."
The elder felt guilty, his brows furrowed, and he kept muttering to himself.
Bai Gu covered his face and chuckled, saying to her, "We should eat vegetarian food first, then reminisce about old times, but this jar isn't sealed properly, and the vegetarian food is a little cold. Could you lend me a stove so I can heat it up?"
"Of course, of course!" Bao'e led him to the kitchen.
