Chapter 82 The Ye Family Comes to Apologize

Although she looked down on Lin Damei's status, Hou Zhen knew that this was a new society, and the leaders had said that everyone was equal, so she didn't dare to go too far. Deep down, she felt that Lin Damei's status was not respectable.

The Ming family just wanted someone quick to take care of the child. Why didn't they just sign a contract of servitude? Instead, they insisted on marrying her, making her the laughingstock in the family compound, with people saying she has a relative who's a servant. She's not even angry yet!

Ye Wenrui lowered his tone: "Father-in-law, Shuhua was ignorant before. I will definitely teach her well in the future so that she will be filial to you. We came here with our sincere apologies."

Ye Shuhua said sarcastically from the side, "They bought several cans of malted milk powder! And meat and steamed egg cakes too."

Before Lin Damei could retort, Ye Wenrui immediately reprimanded her, "Ye Shuhua, is this how I taught you to speak to your elders? This is utterly disrespectful! If I had known you were so unruly in the Ming family, I would have taught you a lesson. Apologize to your mother-in-law now."

Ye Shuhua was unwilling, but her father was angry, so she had no choice but to speak. Before she could speak, Lin Damei stopped her: "No need to put on an act. We don't need to save face for each other. Just ignore each other from now on."

She apologized, but who knows what they're saying about her behind her back! She can't accept that. It's fine as it is between the two sides. She doesn't know if the Ye family has lost their minds, constantly apologizing to her as if they can't understand human language. Lin Damei had no choice but to explain herself clearly.

Ye Wenrui ignored her and continued to berate Ye Shuhua, as if he would keep scolding Lin Damei until she accepted his apology, which made Lin Damei furious. Did he not understand human language?

Hou Zhen, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but say, "In-law, my child has never suffered any grievances since birth. Now that she's married into the family, we're all family. Whatever the disagreements, we, as elders, should be more magnanimous, don't you think?"

Lin Damei was furious: "Are you all deaf? I've said I'll never have anything to do with your Ye family again. I don't accept your apology. I'm not Ming Yunshan's biological mother, nor are I your in-law. If you want to build a relationship, go directly to Old Ming, he's the real father."

Hou Zhen couldn't stand this humiliation either: "We're all busy with work, and we only took the time to come and apologize to you. What else do you want? Just tell us, and we'll do it. What will people say about my daughter if you do this? She's been laughed at all day, and it makes us all feel bad. Can't you understand the difficulties of being a parent?"

Their daughter is constantly being criticized, which has damaged their reputation. People are saying they've failed in raising their child. It's clearly Lin Damei who's being unfair; their daughter was just fighting back against being bullied. How is that considered ill-mannered? If Lin Damei just clarified things, their daughter would stop pointing fingers. Why is Lin Damei so difficult to deal with?

Lin Damei sneered: "Hmph! I'm understanding towards you, but who's understanding towards me? I've done everything I should and I have a clear conscience. If you're here to cause trouble, get lost. I'm not Lao Ming. If you push me too far, I'll go to your political compound and talk to your neighbors."

She's the one who suffered all the injustice, so how come they're calling her petty and narrow-minded? That's outrageous! If they push her too far, she'll expose what Ye Shuhua did and let others judge the matter properly.

Zhu Fanfan spoke up at the opportune moment: "I'm hungry."

She heard two footsteps outside the gate, guessing that Grandpa Ming and Ming Yunshan had returned. As long as the Ye family kept their voices down, Grandma Da Mei would be provoked into saying things she didn't mean. If someone unknowingly overheard this, it would be obvious who would suffer.

Lin Damei immediately turned off the engine while holding Zhu Fanfan, and said to the Ye family, "I don't accept your apology. If you have something to say, talk to Lao Ming yourself. My Fanfan is hungry, so I'm not staying any longer."

After saying that, he was about to make milk powder for Fanfan when Ye Wenrui praised, "This is Chief Zhu's child. He's so cute. I know that you've been taking care of the Zhu family's child recently, and the child is quite delicate. I specially bought milk powder for the child. I'll take it out for you to drink."

Lin Damei became wary and refused: "Old Zhu has already brought the milk powder over. We don't need Ming's. Otherwise, people will say it's unfair that Fanfan is eating our food."

These words surprised Ye Wenrui. He gave his daughter a warning look. Had his daughter ever said something so foolish? It seemed that the family needed some tidying up.

Ye Shuhua knew she was in trouble when she saw the look in her father's eyes. It was all Lin Damei's fault, and she was determined to have Yunshan give her father-in-law a good scolding.

Ye Wenrui quickly apologized: "Father-in-law, I'm sorry for making you laugh at my poor parenting. I will definitely teach her properly when we get back. We are here to apologize sincerely."

Lin Damei didn't want to pay attention to it. Ye Wenrui was even more annoying than Ye Shuhua and her daughter. He was a cunning person, and she was no match for him. Sister-in-law Yumin said that the best way to deal with cunning people is to ignore them and not give them a chance to do bad things.

Ming Zhengyang happened to walk in and, upon hearing this, immediately said, "Then go back and teach the person properly before coming back."

He heard from Yunshan that the Ye family, relying on the connections he had made, had been demanding a return. Yunshan had not agreed to their unreasonable demands, but had provided them with many conveniences. He felt ashamed, feeling that he had failed the country in its cultivation.

Unexpectedly, it was because Lao Zhu made a call that the Ye family found out and took credit for it. If it weren't for this commotion, they would still be in the dark. How could they not be angry? The department only made things convenient for them because of Lao Zhu's influence. If Lao Zhu knew that his kindness was being used like this, he would probably break off the brotherhood.

Ye Wenrui seemed oblivious to the anger in Ming Zhengyang's tone and laughed, "It's been a long time since we've met, in-laws. We've finally managed to get together today, so we must have a drink together."

As the saying goes, one cannot hit a smiling face, so Ming Zhengyang couldn't afford to turn against him. Besides, Yunshan wasn't divorced yet, and the two families would still have to maintain contact in the future.

Lin Damei said directly, "You all do as you please. I'm taking Fanfan to the Zhu family. She'll be asleep soon. Xiaoxiao, come with me."

As long as it's not her who cleans up, whoever wants to drink can drink. She's not going to rush to be a slave, lest they be even more convinced that she should do these things because she's done maid work. She and Xiaoxiao are going to Old Zhu's house to cook and eat, and she'll return the grain tomorrow.

Ming Zhengyang remained silent, not finding himself in the wrong. Hou Zhen, however, was displeased and said with a look of concern for him, "Vice President Liu isn't home right now. Is it appropriate for you to go?"

Lin Damei sneered: "You can only judge others by your own appearance. Even crows don't know they're black. The people I respect most are Sister Yan and Sister-in-law Yumin. If you keep talking nonsense, I'll show you what it means to earn your success through hard work."

Hou Zhen was so angry she almost cried. She mocked her as a crow and warned that she would hit her, but she had seen how fierce Lin Damei was and knew that she dared to actually hit her, so she looked to Ye Wenrui for help.

Ye Wenrui was furious. He had humbled himself and apologized to everyone, but his wife and daughter had been sabotaging him at every turn. He had come all this way for nothing.
