Elder Wu stepped in to smooth things over: "Let's take advantage of the early hour to scout out the terrain first, and then continue our argument after the expedition is over? We have an operation tonight, and we can't afford to waste time."
Elder Dan chimed in, "We have limited time, so please don't make things difficult for Fanfan, team leader."
Zhuge Qianxing looked at the two who were blatantly lying: "Who's making things difficult for whom? Those two 'living fathers' over there, one wants to curse me and the other wants to hit me, and I'm making things difficult for them?"
Elder Wu advised, "We have a heavy mission and must consider the overall situation. Let's not argue with children. Adults are magnanimous."
Zhuge Qianxing then fell silent. Elder Zhen said, "We've arrived at the lake. There's no danger during the day, but according to records, monsters only appear at night. We must understand the surrounding situation during the day so we can face a fierce battle at night."
Zhu Fanfan asked, "We don't have anything to do during the day, so why do we put the truck away? We can rest if we're tired."
Zhuge Qianxing said proudly, "Of course I have something better. Let me show you. Ta-da! This is a tent. The main material inside is made of poisonous spiders. It looks like a small tent, but there's a whole different world inside. Inside is a small room that's very comfortable. I had to find a lot of materials to make just twenty of them. This is the only one of its kind."
Zhu Fanfan asked curiously, "Are our weapon-refining techniques really that advanced?"
Zhuge Qianxing became even more smug: "That's right. The things that Elder Qi and Elder Zhen made together are all of the highest quality. It's just that they overexerted too much energy in advance. Elder Qi is still recuperating and it will probably take him three to five years to recover. Elder Zhen can only give instructions this time and can't do anything."
Zhu Fanfan looked at the small ball in her hand and wondered if the space inside was really that big.
The rest of the people had already started setting up tents as instructed by the group leader. They didn't know how to do it. It looked small, but when you stretched it out, it felt like entering a private room, only it was empty and you had to fill it up yourself.
After everyone came out, Wen Zheng suddenly asked, "Can this thing recognize its master?"
Everyone's eyes lit up as they looked at the team leader. Zhuge Qianxing immediately denied it: "The space ring and the raw materials for this tent cost me all my savings. This is my personal property, so don't try anything funny."
Wen Zheng took the lead, biting his finger to draw a complex array, and said with great regret, "It has recognized its master."
The others followed suit, biting their fingers to draw a spell: "Sorry, my hand slipped."
Zhuge Qianxing angrily said, "You bunch of little bastards, you're going to rebel!"
Zhu Fanfan innocently replied, "I haven't recognized any master."
Zhuge Qianxing became even angrier: "Here you go."
Everyone else has pledged allegiance to her, leaving only this one. If he dares not give it to her, this girl will haunt him every day.
Wen Zheng said good-naturedly, "Team leader, stop fooling around. Isn't this prepared for us? You're still teasing Fanfan. Be careful she doesn't make things difficult for you later."
He had already heard from Elder Li that the team leader had specially made a space tent as a reward for those who went to the snow mountain last time. It took three years to complete and was probably just for Na Na Jiao. But you have to consider who it is for. Xi Yan, don't say anything more. He has declared that Fanfan is his sister and no one can bully her. Hai Bu has also proven with his actions that Fanfan is number one in his heart. If anyone says anything bad about her, he will go and settle accounts with them when he comes back in the middle of the night. These two are his most promising successors.
Fanfan herself is quite capable, and she's also unforgiving when she's in the right. She's absolutely capable of having subordinates make things difficult for their superiors.
Zhuge Qianxing looked at Zhu Fanfan with a bit of guilt. He just wanted to tease them, but who knew they were all so hard to fool.
Zhu Fanfan scoffed, "Grandpa Zhuge, you're so childish."
Zhuge Qianxing said, "Just trying to lighten the mood. We're going to have a big showdown tonight, so here's a little reward for you in advance."
Zhu Fanfan remained noncommittal, but felt that the old man never spoke the truth.
Zhuge Qianxing said, "I'm not kidding you anymore. According to the records, there is a dragon in the lake. We could die here if we're not careful. After we scout out the terrain today, we'll have a good meal and rest well. We'll do our best tonight. If we don't feel well, I'll say retreat. No one is allowed to linger, understand?"
He had mentored all of these people, and some of them were chosen as successors by these old guys. They were the strongest juniors in the group. Although he hoped that this mission would be completed smoothly, if it failed, he hoped that these people would live. Only by living could there be hope.
The others naturally answered yes, and then a few people teamed up to observe the surrounding environment.
As night slowly fell, they lit torches, set up tents, and enjoyed a pleasant barbecue by the lake. The last mission had been incredibly dangerous, but now the danger had diminished considerably.
At night, a group of people rowed boats on the lake, using their mental energy to search for anything amiss. During the day, each of them had probed the lake with their mental energy, but found nothing suspicious. The records were in order, so it was simply that they hadn't checked carefully enough.
In the middle of the night, the lake surface suddenly became turbulent, and Zhuge Qianxing immediately ordered them to retreat back to the ground.
They had just returned to the ground when a whirlpool suddenly shot from the middle of the lake straight into the sky. The chaotic magnetic field affected their nerves, making their will somewhat blurred. They immediately used their supernatural abilities to protect themselves and prevent their nerves from going haywire.
The whirlpool gradually disappeared, revealing its true form: a giant green python whose scales gleamed coldly in the moonlight. The python flew upwards with all its might, but then seemed to collapse from exhaustion and fell heavily into the water. The splashing water was like an explosion, and even those quite far away felt the water droplets fall on them.
The giant pythons leaped into the air again, rose to mid-air, and then fell back down, splashing water once more.
The giant python took off again and fell back down, drenching them completely in water.
Even Zhu Fanfan couldn't hold back any longer: "Team leader, what is it trying to do?"
They didn't seem like they were going to attack them. It's not easy for a python to grow this big; it's probably become a spirit. Are they going to make a move?
Zhuge Qianxing said, "It probably wants to transform into a dragon, but the timing is wrong. There is no special energy here at all, so it can't help it at all."
As they were speaking, the sky, which had just been moonlit, suddenly turned pitch black, and almost instantly there was lightning and thunder. Zhuge Qianxing said, "Go into the tent; you can avoid the lightning inside."
A group of people quickly went into the tent, leaving one head sticking out outside to watch the excitement.
The giant python soared into the air again, and lightning shot straight at it. The python veered off course, and the lightning landed on the water's surface, instantly sending a surge of electricity through it.
As if sensing someone was there, the giant python charged towards them, followed closely by lightning. Seeing the danger, Zhuge Qianxing hurriedly said, "Go inside quickly."
A row of heads instantly retracted, and the tent door was pulled shut. The giant python stopped on top of it, and a bolt of lightning struck, plunging the tent into darkness.
Zhu Fanfan felt a surge of electricity coursing through her body, making her unable to move. Surprisingly, a plant in the space sensed this and became aware of it. It was one of those strangely shaped seeds that had sprouted from the soil but hadn't grown at all. After all these years, it was still just a small seedling with two petals. She had thought that was all there was to it!
