CompletedChen Ming'an was the Imperial Scholar whom Princess Ronghua, Zhu Huaizhen, had set her eyes on in the Golden Imperial Hall.
However, he refused the bestowed marriage, saying, "Your Highness, may this commoner become a white-robed prime minister, and then marry you?"
And so, Zhu Huaizhen waited for Chen Ming'an for five years.
During those five years, Chen Ming'an, for her sake, blocked assassins' swords, endured humiliation from bandits, and knelt before countless bodhisattvas throughout the city. Everyone said that Chen Ming'an was madly in love with Princess Ronghua.
And she, in turn, exhausted her family's wealth and won over people's hearts to smooth his path to success.
Alas, once he ascended to the position of Prime Minister, he opened the city gates, welcomed the enemy's army, and ruined her wedding night.
