Meng Jia's eldest son, Meng Zhao, was injured three months ago, resulting in the loss of his legs. In an attempt to speed his recovery, Meng's mother, trusting the words of a fortune teller, marries him off to a girl with a perfectly matched birthdate, intending for her to "counteract his misfortune" and bring him joy.
On their wedding day, Meng Zhao ignores Qing Ying, the new concubine, and dismissively drinks a cup of wine before falling into a deep sleep. Qing Ying, obedient and demure, stands silently by, her head lowered as though she would not make a move unless instructed.
But after a while, Meng Zhao suddenly moans softly in his sleep, his face flushed and covered in sweat. His body twists and turns in apparent discomfort. Qing Ying hesitates, then nervously approaches. She undresses him, ties his hands with a belt, removes her own clothes, and sits atop him, slowly lowering herself onto his aroused body, enduring the pain as she goes.
"You...drugged the wine," Meng Zhao says through gritted teeth, his eyes bloodshot, fixated on the woman riding him.
Qing Ying, with difficulty containing the fullness inside her, responds with a furrowed brow, "I have offended, I hope the young master forgives me."
The next day, Meng Zhao wakes up angry, smashing a cup, causing sharp porcelain shards to fly and slice across Qing Ying's delicate face, drawing a small stream of blood. Qing Ying kneels silently on the ground, head bowed, knowing that her life in the Meng household will never be easy from now on. But it doesn’t matter to her, she will endure.
