Song Mingchuan is Song Mingye's younger brother, but Song Mingye dislikes him because he is the son of Mingye's stepmother. Because Mingchuan's health is poor, their father always favors him. Mingye believes his mother died because his father didn't love her. Therefore, whenever Mingye sees his father favoring his stepmother and his nominal younger brother, he feels they are at fault and responsible for his mother's death. He always finds them displeasing.

However, Mingchuan has no omniscient perspective or mind-reading abilities. He only knows his brother dislikes him and wants him to like him a little. But he doesn't realize that the more he tries, the more Mingye loathes him.

Yet, when Mingye was at his most崩溃 and difficult moment, the only one supporting him was Mingchuan. Mingye felt no one cared about him. As he was on the verge of a breakdown, he suddenly remembered his parents had died in a car accident. Only he remains. He cannot abandon such a young brother. Although he loathes him, he still cares deeply about this nominal brother. Mingchuan has liked his brother since childhood, but Mingye doesn't like him, considering him a jinx. His parents died saving him. Mingye has already experienced death and separation twice. He knows this pain. So he couldn't bear to let his younger brother endure this pain again. He didn't choose suicide but chose to continue taking care of his nominal brother.

Over time, Mingye developed a feeling for his brother that is greater than familial love but not quite romantic love. However, Mingchuan couldn't sense it; he only knew his brother didn't dislike him as much anymore. So Mingye hesitated whether to confess to his younger brother. But for the sake of the younger brother's future... he didn't!
