Chapter 109 The Deceived Mother Zhuang

"Squeak."

Pushing open the door, Mrs. Zhuang glanced at Lu Fangfang.

When she compared herself to Xiao Ting, she suddenly felt that some of Xiao Ting's shortcomings were not so irritating.

"Comrade Lu, I went to see Xiao Ting today."

"oh."

Lu Fangfang held Xiaohua in her arms, wiping its fur, but it didn't react much.

So what if we meet? It's not like I'm going to marry Zhuang Mingcheng.

Seeing this, Mrs. Zhuang was a little surprised. She said in a slightly stronger tone, "I am quite satisfied with Xiao Ting. She graduated from a vocational school and works as a doctor in the army. She is a good match for Mingcheng, and it will be easy to transfer her."

Lu Fangfang looked up at Zhuang's mother in surprise.

This old lady really wanted to matchmake Xiao Ting and Zhuang Mingcheng. She tentatively asked, "If Xiao Ting remarries, it will be her second marriage. In your heart, is she more suitable than me?"

"Second marriage? What second marriage?"

"Xiao Ting, she's dating Xu Jinbu, the battalion commander of the second battalion in the regiment. They're getting married soon, and she's already moved into the family compound. Really? You didn't know?"

Zhuang's mother stood there, stunned.

Xu Jinbu? Battalion Commander Xu? She immediately thought of the scene at noon.

She plopped down in the chair, her expression a mix of emotions. She felt incredibly ashamed, remembering what she had said at noon.

After a long pause, she glared at Lu Fangfang and said, "It's all your fault for ruining my son's life!"

Now that Xiao Ting has married another battalion commander, she'll be lucky if she doesn't cause any trouble, let alone help Mingcheng.

Lu Fangfang: "..."

Putting down Xiaohua, she said irritably, "Comrade Zhou, I've figured it out. You're just an unreasonable person. If you want to blame someone, blame your son. Don't say I've held him back."

She rolled her eyes and couldn't be bothered to pay any more attention to Zhuang's mother.

She walked up to the coal stove, lifted the lid, and a fragrant aroma wafted out.

Wild rabbit stewed with radish—just the smell alone is enough to make you want to eat more rice.

She took an enamel basin, scooped up some meat with a spoon, and carried it outside.

It was getting dark outside. She carried a basin of meat to Commissar Xiao's house.

Inside the house, Xiao Aiguo was sitting on a stool brushing caterpillar fungus, while Wang Shufen, with her son and daughter, were talking around a basket.

When she saw Lu Fangfang arrive, she quickly waved.

Lu Fangfang put down the enamel basin and went over to take a look. She saw that the basket was full of fluffy yellow chicks.

"Hey girl, you're here just in time. How many do you want? I can't afford to feed all these that have hatched."

Lu Fangfang took a closer look and found that Sister Shufen had hatched quite a few chicks. There were twenty or thirty in this basket, enough to bankrupt an average family.

"Sister Shufen, please give me three hens and one rooster."

Wang Shufen reached out and grabbed one, examining it to see if it was male or female. She was very familiar with chicks and could tell them apart at a glance.

"Fangfang, is this rabbit meat?"

Xiao Aiguo looked at the enamel basin with some surprise.

"Well, I was bored today, so I took a stroll on the grassland and luckily caught a rabbit."

Lu Fangfang smiled and nodded.

Seeing that Tie Dan was trying to run towards the table, she grabbed the little guy.

She took out a slingshot from her pocket and handed it to Tie Dan, saying, "We were able to shoot this rabbit thanks to your slingshot."

"Auntie, did you shoot the rabbit with a slingshot?"

"Yes, a bullet hit the rabbit's head."

Tie Dan looked at Lu Fangfang with sparkling eyes, "Auntie, you're amazing!"

Lu Fangfang smiled and ruffled Tie Dan's hair, then let go of him. "Alright, go eat. The rabbit meat is fresh out of the pot and still hot."

Turning around, Sister Shufen had already picked out four chicks. Lu Fangfang held them in both hands and wanted to go back.

"Hey girl, here's another one for you. I've hatched too many, and the food isn't ready yet. I can't feed them all."

"Okay, then give me another baby rooster."

Holding five fluffy little chicks, Lu Fangfang turned and went home.

As for the enamel basin, she wasn't in a hurry to use it; Sister Shufen would clean it and return it tomorrow.

Back home, Lu Fangfang glanced at Zhuang's mother and found her sitting in a chair, still angry.

She shook her head, put the chicks in the bamboo cage, and let them stay with the quails.

There was still food in the cage, and after a while, the chicks got used to it and immediately started fighting with the quails for it.

They were all little chicks, but the chicks were three times the size of the quails, and the quails couldn't compete with them at all.

After watching for a while, Lu Fangfang decided to let the chicks out when they were a little older.

On the coal stove, rabbit meat was stewing in a pot, filling the whole house with its aroma.

She washed her hands, quickly scooped out a piece of meat, and set it aside to dry.

She took a large bowl from the cupboard, filled it to the brim, and placed it on the table.

"Xiaohua, come here, dinner is ready."

Lu Fangfang picked up the dried rabbit meat, chewed it, and spat it into the small flower bowl.

"Meow~"

Little Flower was scrubbed clean, but it was still covered in bruises and didn't have any of the leopard's fierceness.

Walking up to her food bowl, Xiaohua didn't mind and started eating.

Lu Fangfang glanced at it before sitting down and looking at Zhuang's mother across from her.

"Comrade Zhou, dinner is ready."

She broke off a piece of steamed bun and placed it on the table in front of Zhuang's mother.

Seeing that Mrs. Zhuang did not react, Lu Fangfang did not mind. In any case, she had already been polite enough. She picked up the steamed bun and started eating it herself.

Wild rabbit meat stewed with green radish is simply divine.

She took a small spoon and took a sip of soup.

"Hmm~"

The taste was absolutely amazing, and Lu Fangfang quickly took a few more sips.
