Synopsis - Plot Version:
Just drifting through life at her office job, a certain fish on the line...
She was inexplicably kidnapped.
All because she had a heart that matched a maf...
Most people would tremble as they place their little finger on it, but Mo Huaixing extended his ring finger instead.
"Give me!"
Lu Zhengqian stood up, took the hammer, and slammed it onto the table. The table shattered instantly, but Mo Huaixing's ring finger remained intact, without a trace of blood.
"Mr. Fu?" Mo Huaixing looked at Lu Zhengqian in surprise.
With a slap, Lu Zhengqian slapped Mo Huaixing across the face, saying with heartache, "I've nurtured you so much, and you've disappointed me so much."
“Mr. Fu, I know I’ve wronged you, but…” Mo Huaixing, like a flustered and helpless child, looked away from his gaze with guilt and burst into tears: “…But Miss, she begged me.”
"Silly child!" Lu Zhengqian put a hand on Mo Huaixing's shoulder and gently reminded him, "If I hadn't discovered it in time, wouldn't you have become an accomplice in hurting Tang'er?"
“Mr. Fu,” Mo Huaixing raised his bewildered face, and said with lingering fear, “I deserve to die.”
"Sigh, let it go this time. You've been promoted to hall master, so it's time you were armed." Lu Zhengqian placed a pistol in Mo Huaixing's hand, his eyes full of affection: "According to the rules, you should also be doing some important tasks, but I want you to continue protecting Tang'er. Are you willing?"
Mo Huaixing looked up excitedly, "Protecting the young lady is the most important thing."
"Go on, you haven't seen Tang'er for many days, spend some time with her!" Lu Zhengqian waved his hand.
Ali was shocked. Not only did Mr. Fu not punish him, but he also gave him a gun. He couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Fu, are you just going to let him go like this?"
Lu Zhengqian laughed: "Ali, a near-perfect person, would you dare to use him?"
Ali was puzzled.
Lu Zhengqian continued, "What people seek is nothing more than wealth, sex, fame, and profit. He is neither greedy for money nor lustful. What does he want to do? Does he want to take my place or kill me?"
After granting Mo Huaixing the position of Hall Master, Mo Huaixing's calm and restraint made him wary, and he had never dared to entrust him with any responsibility. But now, he felt somewhat at ease.
Lu Zhengqian sighed, "There is another kind of person in this world, though few, they do exist."
"Who is it?" Ali asked.
"A person imprisoned by love." There was a time when I was also a person imprisoned by love.
"What?" Ali belatedly realized, "You mean he likes the young lady?"
Lu Zhengqian was lost in his memories of the past, and said with dissatisfaction, "What are you yelling about?"
Ali lowered his voice, genuinely unable to understand why Mr. Fu was so happy, "He has inappropriate thoughts about the young lady, aren't you going to punish him?"
"Why punish him? Because of Chu Jiahe?" Lu Zhengqian sneered. "What I want is for the Chu Group to work for me, not for the Lu Group to become the Chu Group. Tang'er also needs a capable person by her side."
...
Mo Huaixing stepped out of the elevator and disappeared into the darkness of the night, his face, which had been filled with gratitude and tears, now showing cold indifference and disdain.
If I hadn't been so familiar with his methods of winning people over, I probably would have been moved to tears by his disappointed and heartbroken gaze, as if he were looking at his own child, and sworn allegiance to him.
What a cunning old fox.
But why does he still stay by Gantang's side?
To justify his deception of Cao Yunbo, Mo Huaixing had to pretend to have a crush on the young lady. He thought that once Lu Zhengqian found out, he would transfer him away from Gan Tang, but unexpectedly, Lu Zhengqian even encouraged him to get closer to Gan Tang.
Was he so sure that Gan Tang wouldn't fall in love with him?
Thinking of this, Mo Huaixing felt a little uncomfortable. He got into his car and drove at full speed toward Yuanhuai Villa.
Gan Tang's car wasn't going fast. Not long after, Mo Huaixing stopped the car that was taking the young lady to the hospital.
"Get out!" He walked toward Gantang's car.
The driver saw Mo Huaixing, the chairman's new favorite, standing unharmed at the car door, and hurriedly got out of the car.
"I'll take you back!" Mo Huaixing glanced at Gan Tang only once before driving away.
In the cramped carriage, only the sound of cold wind rattling against the windows could be heard. In the rearview mirror, the two people, who were secretly peeking at each other, had their eyes meet at the same time, then quickly looked away.
"Laugh if you want to, don't hold it in. You're right, I don't deserve a man who treated me like that."
Gan Tang's voice was mechanical and devoid of any emotion, yet it tugged at the heartstrings of those who heard it. Those words he had once deliberately used to provoke her now felt like sharp blades piercing her.
The person who wanted to comfort couldn't say a word.
The car drove around on the ring road. It wasn't far from where they had barbecue last time. Mo Huaixing drove off the ring road and parked in front of the barbecue stall.
"Want some barbecue?"
"Okay!" Gan Tang replied, only to realize she was in a familiar place.
Around 2 a.m., there were no customers left at the barbecue stall, and the owner packed up the tables and chairs, preparing to close.
"Young man, we're closing now. Come back tomorrow!"
Mo Huaixing walked up to the boss and handed him five hundred yuan.
"Boss, please help me out. My friend is in a bad mood today and wants to eat your barbecue."
"Girlfriend, I suppose!" The shopkeeper looked at Gan Tang, who was sitting near the river. Gan Tang used to come here often, and the shopkeeper recognized him at a glance, exclaiming, "You're a much better young man than the old one. Perfect timing, the fire's still burning. Help yourself to a drink or beer."
Mo Huaixing took two bottles of beer over.
Food can indeed temporarily suppress sadness. Gan Tang ate skewers and drank beer, and her expression softened considerably.
"Eat up, the lamb skewers won't taste good when they're cold." Gan Tang raised her wine glass to Mo Huaixing's untouched glass and drank it all in one gulp.
Mo Huaixing gripped the wine glass, his palm trembling. At a time when she was so upset, he had to dampen her spirits by reminding her, "It's not worth it for a man. What you need to do now is regain Mr. Fu's trust."
"I've already done it."
"It's already done?" Mo Huaixing was locked in the dark room and could only guess the general development of the matter, but did not know the specifics of what had happened.
Gan Tang smiled: "Didn't you say he had a problem?"
"Do you believe what I'm saying?"
"At first, I didn't believe it either." Gan Tang recalled how she could have easily stolen the combination lock box, and suddenly began to worry about Mo Huaixing's safety. Then she remembered the unusual nature of their last conversation.
“The night before you and Cao Yunbo ran away, I chatted with you, and you called me Miss. I knew something had happened to you.” Since that day, when she said “Miss” to him, he never called her Miss in private again.
And then there was that inexplicable "Goodnight" that night. Once a person starts to doubt, it's like a flood bursting its banks. Mo Huaixing's words kept replaying in my mind.
She didn't know why, but when faced with life and death, she instinctively wanted to believe what he said. She began to calmly analyze Cao Yunbo's and Lu Zhengqian's unusual behavior.
