Synopsis - Plot Version:
Just drifting through life at her office job, a certain fish on the line...
She was inexplicably kidnapped.
All because she had a heart that matched a maf...
The city's prosperity does not fade with the setting sun; it illuminates countless homes, vying for brilliance with the stars and moon, giving insignificant humans a sense of unreal power.
Fu Cheng drove through the still bustling city and stopped on a relatively quiet side of the road.
There were shops on both sides, and Lin Shuang assumed he was going to buy cigarettes, so she sat quietly and waited for him. But when she heard his voice again, he had already opened the car door and was standing next to her. She couldn't get away in time, and the red and swollen scar on her right cheek suddenly appeared in his eyes.
For the first time, Fu Cheng felt remorse for his abruptness.
"Put these shoes on!" He pretended not to see her, placed the shopping bag on Lin Shuang's lap, hurriedly closed the car door, and then leaned against the back of the car to smoke.
In the summer, wearing a pair of fluffy cotton slippers looks somewhat comical. Lin Shuang looked at the chubby rabbit ears on the toes of the slippers and couldn't help but laugh.
That smile was so beautiful, like the warm sun in March or a gentle summer breeze.
When Fu Cheng opened the car door, he saw this scene and was momentarily mesmerized.
Lin Shuang hurriedly pulled her legs back up and lowered her head to hide her embarrassment.
Seeing her clutching the shopping bag tightly, Fu Cheng reminded her, "There's some wound medicine inside."
In this world, she had long been accustomed to passively accepting whatever came her way, and subconsciously opened the shopping bag as he instructed. The plastic seal on the medicine box was a bit tight, and she couldn't pry it open with her injured hand. Her hand slipped, and the medicine fell to Fu Cheng's feet.
Fu Cheng bent down to pick it up, opened the medicine box, and asked in a low voice, "Shall I do it?"
“…No need to trouble yourself.” Lin Shuang shook her head hurriedly.
It was a small spray bottle. Lin Shuang took it, quickly sprayed it twice, and threw it back into the plastic bag.
"There's still medicine inside," Fu Cheng reminded him.
"Huh?" Lin Shuang opened the shopping bag again and saw a roll of gauze inside. She hurriedly wrapped it around her hand. But she only had one left hand, how could she wrap the gauze properly?
"Shall I do it?"
Seeing the blood seeping from the gauze because of her roughness, Fu Cheng uncontrollably grabbed Lin Shuang's bandaged hand and wrist.
Even though it was just her wrist, Lin Shuang flinched away in fear.
As if his darkest thoughts had been unearthed, Fu Cheng hurriedly looked away. "I'm sorry, Miss Lin, I didn't mean to be presumptuous."
Lin Shuang saw her own awkwardness in the rearview mirror and silently mocked herself: "You're not some chaste and virtuous woman, what are you pretending for?"
Because of this incident, the two didn't exchange another word, only the whistling wind filling their ears. Upon arriving at Lin Shuang's apartment building, the car slowly came to a stop.
Lin Shuang looked at Fu Cheng and asked, "How much? I'll transfer it to you."
Fu Cheng was taken aback for a moment before realizing she was referring to the cost of the purchase, and quickly replied, "158."
As he spoke, he opened the QR code on his phone.
After scanning the code, Lin Shuang realized it wasn't a payment QR code, but a friend request. Fu Cheng quickly accepted. Lin Shuang didn't say anything more, hurriedly transferred the money, and left with her shopping bags.
Lin Shuang lives in an upscale residential complex, in an 18-story building. She lives on the middle 12th floor.
Normally, she would subconsciously glance at the 12th floor to see if any lights were on before going upstairs. But this time, because of Fu Cheng, she forgot.
After opening the door, she discovered that the light was on.
She wanted to run away, but the person waiting inside the house had already appeared before her.
"Didn't you leave a long time ago? Why are you back so late?" Fu Shaojie, reeking of alcohol, pulled Lin Shuang onto the bed and, before she could say a word, he pressed himself against her.
"Why, why are you always thinking about Jian Suhuai? Have you ever thought about my mother?" He buried his head in Lin Shuang's neck and shoulder, angrily clenching his fist and pounding the bed.
Lin Shuang stared blankly out the window, her mind only focused on: Had he left?
In the dark carriage, the only light came from the open screen of a mobile phone.
Fu Cheng stared at Lin Shuang's transfer interface for a full ten minutes before emptying his balance and accepting the 158 yuan transfer.
For a long time afterward, he only had 158 yuan in his WeChat Wallet.
...
In the still of the night, in the quiet room, only a dim light remained on.
Mo Huaixing lay sprawled on the bed, while Gan Tang sat on a small wooden stool beside him. Only when Mo Huaixing's rapid breathing gradually calmed down did she have time to cry out.
Her sobs were restrained and not loud, but they were right next to his ear, and they were really, really noisy.
Mo Huaixing opened his eyes and complained, "Boss, you're overdoing it."
I don't know when it started, but whenever she threw a tantrum in front of him, he would bend down and call her "boss" to coax her into being happy.
But now,
"Pah!" Gan Tang spit a breath of hot air in his face. "Didn't you say you'd be fine?"
“There was nothing wrong to begin with,” Mo Huaixing explained. “Mr. Fu was just trying to scare you. Can such a thin leather whip kill someone?”
Gan Tang glared at him and spat again, "Pulmonary hemorrhage. If it hadn't been stopped in time, you would be dead."
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face like beads from a broken string.
"Stop crying!" Mo Huaixing raised his hand to wipe away the tears.
Afraid that he would aggravate his wound, Gan Tang quickly pressed his hand down and teased, "If you weren't the only one who knew where my parents were, who would care whether you lived or died?"
"Boss!"
"Um?"
"I want to drink water."
His expression was very serious. Gan Tang thought something serious had happened, but it turned out to be just this…
Gan Tang slapped him angrily and got up to pour water.
He could only lie face down, making it inconvenient for him to drink water. Gan Tang put a straw in the water glass and brought it to him.
After downing a glass of water, Mo Huaixing pursed his dry lips and asked the girl in front of him, "Do you still remember the woman on the cruise ship who could also give Mr. Fu a heart transplant?"
"What happened?" How could she not remember?
"Mr. Mu Zi gave her a drug, a homemade amnesia drug. It's been a month now, and so far there seem to be no adverse reactions, except that she doesn't remember many things."
"What's wrong?" Gan Tang didn't understand why he would suddenly say these things.
Mo Huaixing lowered his head again to drink water. The water glass was empty, only a bunch of air came up with a whooshing sound.
"I'll pour another cup." Gan Tang took the cup, but Mo Huaixing pressed her hand down.
"Dr. Mu Zi shouldn't be here today, but he is. I suspect that Mr. Fu wants to give your parents amnesia medication."
Mo Huaixing tried to persuade the girl in front of him, "This is the safest way to save their lives right now."
"Amnesia?" Gan Tang stared blankly at Mo Huaixing. "Wouldn't that mean forgetting family, friends, and everything from the past? What's the difference between someone who has no memories and someone who's dead?"
“They’re over fifty years old, with no insurance and no pension. They’ve lost their memory and can’t even do their jobs properly. How will they survive?” Gan Tang cried and shook her head. “Mo Huaixing, I don’t want that. I don’t want them to forget me.”
"Okay, okay!" Mo Huaixing raised his hand to wipe away the tears on her face and comforted her, "I'll think of other ways."
His words were like a seductive poppy, intoxicating people.
Ignoring the strange feeling in her heart, Gan Tang asked, "Mo Huaixing, what do you want from helping me like this?"
