After Buying a Cat Slave, I Become Obsessed with Eavesdropping on Her Thoughts

In a world where tomorrow's bread is never certain and demi-humans are sold like livestock, Reiner makes a daring purchase: a cat-type demi-human whose talent outshines her tragic circumstances. A...

Chapter 393: Kill Even If You Say So (1/2)

When Reiner arrived at the city gate, he saw a familiar figure.

He turned his back to Reiner and talked to the knight on the city wall.

Only after being reminded did he turn around and look at Reiner.

It was a long time ago when I last saw Dimas, almost two years ago.

He was wearing plate armor, and seemed to be more mature and tough.

When several demi-humans saw Reiner, they strode over, knelt on one knee, and shouted "Your Majesty".

After Reiner had the group of beast-eared girls stand up, he waved towards Dimas and called out, "Master Dimas."

Dimas walked over quickly. He still looked aloof, but he smiled. "Long time no see. When the guard told me you were here, I immediately rode over. I thought I was a step too late."

I've heard a lot about you from Peggy, and I think I should call you the King of Northgard now."

Reiner waved his hand: "Please spare me. Just call me Reiner like before."

When an old acquaintance called him like this, Reiner didn't feel very proud. Instead, he felt extremely embarrassed.

"Being a king must be very busy, right? What brought you here this time?" Dimas asked as he took Reiner to a corner of the city where there were few people.

Reiner patted Peggy's shoulder and said softly, "Because she was just attacked outside the city. The attackers were a group of mages and knights from the Kingdom of Roseno."

The smile on Dimas' face faded as he spoke. He looked Peggy up and down, noticing some scratches on her arms. He continued, "Rosno Kingdom soldiers? Where? Near the Philosopher's Stone in the Morning Forest?"

Reiner nodded.

Dimas shook his head. "This is in the northern part of the kingdom, a great distance from the border. I haven't received any letters from the capital, so I don't know about this matter."

Reiner shrugged. The relationship between Diast and the Kingdom of Rossno was not bad to begin with. It was just peaceful in recent years. Decades before that, there had been a lot of friction on the border, and the two countries would often go to war.

It was called a war, but to be more precise, Diast was beaten unilaterally...

In peacetime, the army of the Kingdom of Rossno needs a letter to operate in Diast, which must indicate the purpose of the visit.

However, arresting people from the Kingdom of Northgard was obviously against the rules, and the nobles of the Kingdom of Diast would not agree to it.

So they probably sneaked in here quietly, no wonder they were dressed like bandits.

Dimas continued, "What about those soldiers? They should be arrested and thrown into prison until the people of the Kingdom of Rossno come to ransom them."

"I happened to be there when they attacked Paige. We had a big fight, and it wasn't a pretty ending for them." Reiner's words were very euphemistic. In fact, they all turned into fertilizer.

Dimas thought for a moment and then replied, "If the nobles of the Kingdom of Rossno ask me, I will pretend I don't know anything about it."

Reiner breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank you."

Dimas shook his head and looked at Peggy beside him. "It's okay. When the goblins were rampaging a while ago, Ms. Peggy helped us solve the problem. If it weren't for her, we might still be fighting the goblins."

It can be seen that during the time when Rainer was away, Peggy was involved in all of Melody's affairs, big and small. No wonder she was never at home. It must have been hard for her.

Reiner continued, "Also, I took away that merchant from the Chamber of Commerce, Horace. He was one of those bastards from Roseno, and it was he who revealed Paige's location."
