After Divorcing by Agreement: The CEO's Wife Cried with Regret

Fifth anniversary of their marriage.

He Lingchuan had prepared a table full of lavish candlelight dinner, waiting for his wife Shen Yanxi to come home to celebrate. However, she took their tw...

Chapter 84 The Battle for Custody

After delivering the package to the villa, Shen Yanxi instructed the driver to take He Lingchuan to the hospital.

He Lingchuan frowned, and when he looked up, he was met with the pitiful look on the faces of the children.

His heart softened, and he wanted to stay home with the children: "I won't go."

Shen Yanxi instructed the housekeeper to prepare everything He Lingchuan would need for hospitalization, and then she heard him say this.

Shen Yanxi was furious, and her eyes were full of accusation as she looked at He Lingchuan: "Do you know what you're saying? Don't you want your legs anymore?"

Shen Yanxi reprimanded He Lingchuan with a cold face, but her tone was full of concern.

"What does this have to do with you?"

He Lingchuan used both hands to lift his legs onto the bed. He grimaced in pain, but he didn't forget to refuse Shen Yanxi: "I know what I'm doing. Just give me a first-aid kit."

Shen Yanxi frowned, still worried: "No, you have to come to the hospital with me."

He Lingchuan frowned, struggling, his arm hitting the wall beside him.

Just as he was about to lose his temper, his two children advised him, "Dad, you should go to the hospital to get it checked out."

"I don't want a dad with a broken bone."

Both children were very sensible and behaved very well in an attempt to persuade He Lingchuan.

When Shen's mother returned from outside, she saw Shen Yanxi coldly persuading He Lingchuan, her tone becoming increasingly impatient.

"Xixi, how can you talk to Ling Chuan like that? He's not your slave."

"Mom, you've misunderstood me. It's He Lingchuan who refuses to go to the hospital."

Shen Yanxi told her mother the whole story, and her mother frowned and, like Shen Yanxi, forced He Lingchuan to go to the hospital.

“I’ll take care of the children, and there’s also a housekeeper. What are you worried about? Hurry up and go, don’t waste time.”

He Lingchuan couldn't persuade the two of them otherwise, so he had no choice but to agree.

Before leaving, he reminded his two children, "Don't eat snacks given to you by strangers, understand?"

He Lingchuan was clearly referring to Zhou Mingyan; he was practically naming him.

The moment Shen Yanxi started to care about He Lingchuan, Zhou Mingyan regretted not letting those bikers run him over.

He clenched his fists, taking every word He Lingchuan said as sarcasm and slander, and feigned pitifulness towards Shen Yanxi: "Mr. He, if you have something to say, just say it directly, there's no need to be so veiled."

As He Lingchuan spoke, he would occasionally steal glances at Shen Yanxi standing beside him, who looked aggrieved and cried out, "I admit I envy you for having the trust of two children, but I would never harm two children, would I?"

He became more and more agitated as he spoke, his voice trembling with tears: "I can even take care of you, how could I possibly harm two children?"

Hearing his aggrieved voice, Shen Yanxi felt a pang of heartache.

She walked over to Zhou Mingyan and gently patted his back to comfort him: "We don't distrust you, don't listen to other people's nonsense."

After calming Zhou Mingyan down, Shen Yanxi didn't dare to delay any longer and urged He Lingchuan to go to the hospital.

"By the time you take me to the hospital, I'll probably be in so much pain I'll be dead."

He Lingchuan couldn't help but mock her, if she was so worried about Zhou Mingyan, why did she insist on following him?

He glanced at his phone, then took the wooden stick the butler handed him and used it as his crutch, limping towards the outside.

Hearing footsteps behind him, He Lingchuan turned to look at Shen Yanxi and said, "I've already asked Chengze to take me to the hospital, you don't need to go."

How can he take good care of you?

Shen Yanxi looked worried and insisted on going with him, but she heard He Lingchuan sarcastically say to her from the side: "If you leave, Zhou Mingyan will probably cry again. You should stay and comfort him."

Shen Yanxi was filled with shame and indignation at He Lingchuan's words. She frowned and stomped her feet in anger: "He Lingchuan, it's not too late for you to take back what you said. What do you mean Mingyan cried at the banquet? How can you be so disrespectful?"

He Lingchuan spread his hands and shrugged indifferently: "He doesn't deserve my respect at all."

"Just a mistress," He Lingchuan thought to himself, and started walking. Even though one of his legs was immobile, he could walk very fast, leaving Shen Yanxi behind.

Within thirty minutes, the two arrived at the hospital. After a series of examinations, it was found that He Lingchuan's leg had a minor fracture.

Gu Chengze breathed a sigh of relief upon receiving this news.

He leaned against the wall and couldn't help but tease He Lingchuan: "You've really had a rough life."

Seeing that He Lingchuan remained silent, Gu Chengze chuckled and continued, "If you ask me, you should just move out. Ever since you moved back, you've been constantly injured."

He Lingchuan lowered his head, as if he was thinking about something.

Gu Chengze waited for a long time but didn't get a reply, so he thought He Lingchuan had fallen asleep.

Just as Gu Chengze was about to leave, he heard a low sigh behind him: "I can't leave my two children behind."

If it weren't for Nan Chen and Bei Chen, he would have left long ago.

Gu Chengze was startled. He patted his chest and said, "Next time, could you tell me in advance so I can be prepared?"

He Lingchuan squinted, not wanting to pay him any attention.

A silence fell over the ward. After a long while, Gu Chengze suddenly thought of something and walked up to He Lingchuan with a smile: "I have an idea that can make you leave them. It just depends on whether you are ruthless enough."

He Lingchuan looked up in surprise and asked, "What idea?"

"Why don't you just win custody of the child?"

Gu Chengze said confidently, "I will help you find the best lawyer. Anyway, Shen Yanxi doesn't care about the two children, so this can be used as your reason to fight for custody."

He Lingchuan paused, thought for a moment, then frowned: "Is this your idea?"

"Isn't this a good idea?"

He Lingchuan lowered his head and thought for a while, then sighed: "It won't work."

He looked at the bewildered Gu Chengze and said softly, "Shen Yanxi would never give me custody of the child."

That's why I let you take it.

"How could I possibly win against the child's mother?"

Gu Chengze's suggestion was simply unrealistic. Not to mention that Shen Yanxi would never give him custody, even if Shen Yanxi really asked him to take care of the two children, he was not capable of doing so.

He currently has absolutely no source of income; his meager salary and research funding are barely enough for him to continue pursuing his dreams and making a living.

How is he going to support two children? Not to mention he doesn't even have a fixed place to live.

Seeing Gu Chengze worrying about his affairs, He Lingchuan patted him on the shoulder with some guilt: "I'm sorry, I've made you worry about me all this time."

"What nonsense are you talking about? Aren't we good buddies anymore?"

Gu Chengze patted him on the shoulder, still unwilling to give up, and continued to persuade him: "But are you really not planning to fight for custody? If you're worried that you can't afford to raise the child yourself, I can help you."
