Chapter 11
"Hey, pretty kid, who are you to this guy?" The woman spoke fluent Mandarin, walked out of the room, looked at Su He and asked.
The woman looked familiar. Su He remembered that there were photos and introductions of the participants of this event in the hall at the entrance.
She is Yang Manfeng, the head of the Red Cherry Society, the recipient of this charity event.
She was a plump woman, about forty years old, with wavy hair and red lipstick, which made her look very charming. But because of this outfit, Yang Manfeng was scolded by the Guangzhou media for several years, saying that she did not look like a good woman who would be passionate about charity.
Su He said in a businesslike tone, "Hello, Ms. Yang, I'm Mr. Sheng's assistant, my last name is Su."
The woman raised an eyebrow in surprise and asked with a smile, "Do you know me?"
"I passed by the hall and saw your introduction." Su He answered truthfully.
Su He had some impression of this name because it was mentioned in the second half of the book that two years later, the former site of the Red Cherry Society Welfare Home was maliciously set on fire.
Yang Manfeng pulled out nearly ten trapped little radishes from the fire. Their curly hair was singed and their purple dresses were torn, revealing their burned skin.
When she looked at the camera with a cigarette in her mouth after the disaster, the media gave her a very evil title, called "Red Lotus Guanyin".
Yang Manfeng nodded, thinking that this young man was quite attentive and could match the name with the face after just one glance.
She had just finished scolding someone and was still angry. She held a cigarette in her mouth and looked for a lighter. Sheng Jinyu handed it to her at the right time.
The two people sat down and started talking, seeming to be very familiar with each other. Su He listened for a while with his ears perked up, and gradually understood the whole story.
Sheng Jinyu attends this event on behalf of the Sheng family every year, but he never participates in the auction. He directly transfers the dividends from the projects he is working on to Yang Manfeng's account.
In Yang Manfeng's words -
"These starving ghosts always eat up more than 50% of the donations. They are really not afraid of dying from toothache!"
Good deeds done in the name of charity are nothing more than a tool for the powerful to make money in disguise.
Su He sat on the sofa on the side, listening to their conversation and unable to stop feeling anxious. He urgently wanted to find out the whereabouts of the girl.
At this moment, the two people who happened to be talking suddenly fell silent.
Su He noticed the strange silence, raised his head, and found that two pairs of eyes were looking at him. He was stunned.
Seeing his dazed look, Yang Manfeng liked him more and more. She smiled and stood up and said to him formally, "Mr. Su, thank you for your help. If you hadn't brought Shasha to Ah Yu, I'm afraid I wouldn't have made it in time."
Her gratitude came from the bottom of her heart. The auction house manager did not dare to offend Sheng Zhilin and kept the matter a secret. If Su He had not discovered it, Yang Manfeng did not dare to think about the consequences.
Su He stood up unconsciously, the concern on his face was very real: "Is she okay?"
"I have asked my assistant to take Sasha back. Don't worry, Mr. Su, she is fine." Yang Manfeng said.
Su He then nodded.
Then, he must have wronged Sheng Jinyu...
No wonder Sheng Jin was so angry, but why didn't he just tell the truth?
He couldn't help but look up at Sheng Jinyu, who looked at him with a light gaze, snorted coldly, then turned around and said something to Yang Manfeng in Guangzhou dialect.
The voice was neither loud nor soft. Yang Manfeng laughed when she heard it and asked him who he was angry with.
Su He had almost never heard Sheng Jin speak with Guangzhou's local accent. His demeanor was different from his usual speaking style, being calmer and gentler.
He didn't react at first, but after thinking about it carefully, he realized that what Sheng Jinyu said was: "The man-eating ghost is greedy, and the person who reports to the authorities is blind."
This double entendre is subtle but blunt. The first half of the sentence scolds the auction organizer, while the second half points out Su He, the "blind" informant.
Young Master Shengda is still angry and scolding him!
Su He pursed his lips awkwardly. After all, he had misunderstood. He didn't like owing favors to others, nor did he like being hated by others.
So he stood up and apologized to Sheng Jinyu: "I'm sorry, Mr. Sheng, I shouldn't have misunderstood you."
Sheng Jinyu paused. He didn't expect Su He's apology to be so straightforward. Instead, it made him seem a little petty.
"Okay, the kids have apologized to you, what else are you not satisfied with?" Yang Manfeng smiled and pursed his lips while holding a cigarette, acting as the peacemaker at the center of the conflict.
Sheng Jin knocked his fingertips on the table, leaving several obvious bloody scratches on the joints of the back of his hands. Su He saw them and knew that they were caused by his own fingernails.
He said sheepishly, "There's a first aid kit in the car. I'll get it. It shouldn't be far from the underground garage."
Sheng Jinyu didn't look at him, obviously still angry and didn't want to pay attention to him.
Yang Manfeng pressed the pager on the table and said, "Someone, take our kids to the underground parking lot."
Su He escaped from the deafening dynamic music, his ears were buzzing, and he followed the bodyguards called by Yang Manfeng through twists and turns and took the elevator to the parking lot.
The bodyguard said that he could not leave the activity area and wait for him in the building.
Su He went out with the car keys. Before he even stepped out of the passage, he heard a vague conversation coming from not far away: "These rich kids are really stingy. I've been following the Hongying Association auction for three consecutive years, and there are actually people who haven't bid for a single item in three years."
"You're not talking about the guy who just came back from the Sheng family, are you? He has such a rich family background, but he doesn't even pretend to do charity. He's just here to spend his money, isn't he? He really is a playboy."
"Let's just talk about it privately. If he really posts it online, he'll have to quit his job at the news agency..."
A group of people with work badges hanging on their chests walked by, carrying cameras and other equipment. The distance was too far, and Su He didn't see clearly which company the reporters were from before the crowd disappeared at the aisle.
Just now, Su He himself was also one of those who had such prejudice against Sheng Jinyu, but after the misunderstanding was resolved, he found that Sheng Jinyu did not seem so unkind.
What this young master did was actually much warmer than the indifference he appeared to show.
Maybe he is a person who is tough on the outside but soft on the inside.
Su He took the car keys and took the first aid kit out of the trunk and was about to return along the same route.
The lights in the parking lot were already dim, and a chaotic sound of footsteps suddenly sounded from not far away. Su He stopped and felt inexplicably panicked.
Sure enough, footsteps came closer and closer, and several men in black holding sticks appeared from the aisle and blocked his way.
The leader was on the phone, and after hanging up, he said to the thugs next to him, "Young Master Sheng is very understanding. He only wants an arm. Since the Third Young Master doesn't care whether he lives or dies, you don't need to show mercy."
Sheng Zhilin couldn't get over the fact that his good thing was interrupted, so he found someone to take revenge on him!
Su He sighed inwardly, wondering if he had taken the wrong step when leaving the house today. Why was he so unlucky for no reason?
He took two steps back, grabbed the first aid kit and ran towards the elevator, with several thugs chasing him!
Su He was not a good athlete, and his body was extremely weak. He was out of breath after running only two steps, but he still didn't dare to stop.
In a flash, the elevator door was right in front of me, but I felt a sharp pain in my back!
The leading thug kicked Su He in the back. He fell forward and hit the ground hard, almost hitting his head on the elevator door.
Su He had no experience in being beaten, so he curled up instinctively. He was hit several times on the back of his forearms, and the pain almost exploded. The thugs grabbed his shoulders and tried to turn him over, and their fists flew towards Su He's face!
A flash of white light appeared before my eyes——
Su He thought he was going to be finished.
However, the expected pain did not come. In a daze, Su He heard the sound of the elevator door opening.
Someone passed him and blocked the fist that was heading towards him.
He twisted the man's arm and kicked him away.
Su He gritted his teeth and climbed up, seeing clearly the figure that suddenly appeared. Sheng Jinyu was very skilled and his strength was fast and fierce.
I don't know if he was taking advantage of the situation to vent his anger, but the fists hitting the thugs made a sound of wind breaking through the air. If it weren't for the clothes restricting his movements, these people would probably all have to go into the operating room.
He sat on the ground for a while, endured the pain, and stood up with difficulty.
The thugs who were so arrogant just now were lying on the ground, being tied up one by one by Sheng Jin and his men.
Sheng Jinyu shook his left wrist and looked back at Su He. His beige clothes had turned gray and were covered with footprints. His cheek was a little scratched and there was a bruise on his arm.
The first aid kit in his arms was safe and sound, and he looked a bit pitiful.
Sheng Jinyu frowned impatiently and said, "You came down here to get something and it turned out like this. Should I assign you a personal bodyguard?"
"No, thank you, I'm fine." Su He replied.
He caught a glimpse of Sheng Jin's hanging hand out of the corner of his eye. Originally, he had only scratched the skin a little, but now, he didn't know what it had hit during the fight, and the entire knuckle was stained with blood.
"Your hand..."
"Go back to the car."
The two people started talking at the same time, and when they bumped into each other, Su He stopped first.
"Oh." Su He withdrew his gaze, limped back obediently, and sat in the back seat of the Cayenne.
After waiting for ten minutes, Sheng Jinyu came back. Su He had already wiped his dirty face and put a Band-Aid on the wound on his cheek.
The chaos of the whole night finally came to an end. The car drove out of the underground parking lot and entered the no-speed limit area, and the speed began to increase.
The road was bumpy. Su He caught a glimpse of Sheng Jinyu in the rearview mirror and discovered that the other person's right hand, which was in a brace, was shaking constantly, and it could even be described as twitching.
But he forcibly suppressed it with his other hand, trying to resist this physiological tremor.
One of Sheng Jinyu's hands was bleeding and the other was shaking. It was hard to tell which one was worse.
Noticing his gaze, Sheng Jin looked over with an unfriendly tone, "What are you looking at?"
Most likely he had suffered secondary trauma from the fight just now. Su He half stood up, moved closer to the driver's seat and said to him, "Please drive more steadily. Mr. Sheng is injured."
The driver responded immediately upon hearing this and did not dare to delay and adjusted the speed immediately.
Sheng Jinyu clenched his wrist and stared at him with narrowed eyes. There was no relief or gratitude in his eyes. Instead, he said with a hint of sarcasm, "Assistant Su is so arrogant now, he's giving orders to my driver over my shoulder."
Su He knew that he was probably still angry, so he didn't take the sarcasm seriously. He stood up and went to look for the medicine box he brought with him: "There are painkillers and sprays in the medicine box. Let me help you deal with them first."
Su He had just crossed the center axis of the back seat, and before his hand touched anyone, Sheng Jinyu retracted his hand first: "Don't bother, give it to me."
The hand he extended paused, then silently retracted. This vigilant look reminded Su He of the arrogant stray cat that stretched out its claws and bared its teeth at him.
He tilted his head and said logically, "You saved me just now. You don't know how timely you came. Thank you! Otherwise they would have cut off my hand. Isn't it my duty to help you now?"
After Su He finished speaking, he looked at Sheng Jinyu eagerly.
The latter turned his head impatiently, but his vision was filled with Su He's big, bright eyes. Su He leaned forward slightly, and his slightly long hair half covered his eyes, making him look particularly sincere.
Sheng Jinyu cleared his throat uncomfortably, looked at him for a long moment, then looked away: "You're overthinking it. I'm not going to save you."
"But you still saved me, so I should say thank you." Su He smiled.
They were not very close, but Sheng Jinyu seemed to smell a hint of banana milk. This fragrance began to disturb his brain, or perhaps it was the sequelae of concussion that made him close his eyes in frustration.
When Su He reached out to touch Sheng Jinyu again, he was caught by the other party again, but Sheng Jinyu was probably too lazy to push him away, so he closed his eyes and did not move.
He pushed up Sheng Jinyu's sleeve and saw the redness and swelling on his forearm in the light. He first took out a sterile cotton ball to disinfect the joints on the back of Sheng Jinyu's hand, put on a medical band-aid, and then treated Sheng Jinyu's trembling right hand.
After spraying the painkiller spray and fanning himself with his hands, Su He rolled up his sleeves, poured the medicated oil into his palms and rubbed them to warm them up. He then placed his warm palms on his strong forearms and began to press in circles little by little.
Su He didn't use too much force in his hands, for fear of hurting him. His fingers were flexible and soft, and his technique was very comfortable.
Sheng Jinyu's slightly frowned brows gradually relaxed, and the slight warmth generated by the friction of their skin seemed to really ease the pain in his right hand.
"Does it hurt?" Su He looked up and asked him.
Sheng Jinyu didn't even raise his eyelids: "It's as comfortable as a cat, how can it hurt?"
"Should I use some force then?"
Sheng Jinyu didn't refute, so Su He pulled his forearm in the air, exerted his strength and began to slowly smooth out the knotted muscles. When he was a child, he bumped into things and sprained them, and his grandmother rubbed medicinal wine on him in the same way.
As a result, the car passed a speed bump and slowed down. Su He exerted force and almost pulled Sheng Jinyu off his seat.
He was caught off guard and held onto the seat in front of him to steady himself. He glared at Su He, who was looking down with his head down, trying not to laugh. His eyes were curved. Sheng Jinyu tutted and asked unhappily, "Did you do that on purpose?"
Su He quickly shook his head: "I dare not, you are still injured."
Probably only one point out of ten was intentional, because Sheng Jin played a trick on him and said he wanted to kill him!
Sheng Jinyu was about to say something when his peripheral vision fell on the fair arm beneath his sleeve. The bruises on it were no less severe than his own. He paused and said, "Don't you also know who you hit?"
"I probably know." Su He said.
"You're really going to cause trouble for me." Sheng Jin said in a light tone.
Su He pursed his lips and stopped talking. At this time, Sheng Jinyu answered a phone call. It was Assistant Fang on the other end, who seemed to be reporting on the handling of the thugs.
Even though he was at a distance, Su He could still hear the screams in the background. He glanced at Sheng Jin and Ruchang's faces secretly, and sighed inwardly that this guy was really ruthless in cutting people into pieces!
Su He started to worry about himself again.
The moon is high in the sky at night.
The car turned into Xiaoxie Garden, and the housekeeper Sister Ling came out to help Sheng Jinyu undress. The dusty Su He quickly took a shower. When he cleaned himself up and came out, the living room had returned to silence again.
S037 told him that Sheng Jinyu had gone upstairs to rest, and asked no one to disturb him. Dr. Gu would not come until tomorrow.
There aren't many living people in the whole villa right now, so the meaning of "anyone" is too clear.
Su He looked up at the building and sighed heavily. It seemed that he would have to be on high alert again tomorrow morning because Sheng Jinyu's injury would definitely worsen.
