Chapter 284 Rescue

Gu Qingqing curled up in the small stone cave, whispering, "Master Fu, I miss you, I miss you so much, please come and take me home."

Second after second passed, but Fu Jue still hadn't arrived.

The waiting time felt like an eternity, making Gu Qingqing's heart feel like it was being gnawed by ants, itchy and painful, yet she couldn't scratch it.

The dark and silent environment also filled her with fear.

Suddenly, footsteps and a shout came: "Qingqing—"

It's Master Fu's voice!

Gu Qingqing excitedly craned her neck, only to bump it against the top of the small stone cave, causing her to scream in pain and even fall into a few seconds of dizziness.

"Qingqing—" Fu Jue ran over upon hearing the sound, parted the branches, shone his flashlight into the small stone cave, and sure enough, he saw the person he had been longing for.

"What's wrong, Qingqing? Are you hurt?" He didn't rush to pull her out, because when he saw her clutching her head and crying in pain, he knew that something had happened to her.

"Master Fu, sob sob, I accidentally bumped into the top of the cave just now, my head hurts so much." Gu Qingqing stretched out a hand, letting Fu Jue pull her out.

She didn't want to stay in the small cave anymore, even though he had just protected her.

After carefully pulling her out, Fu Jue held her close to comfort her. "Let me see."

He gently touched her head and, sure enough, her hair was wet. He also smelled a faint metallic scent of blood.

"Your head is injured, Qingqing. I'll take you home. Don't be afraid, the doctor will bandage it for you."

"Yes, Master Fu." With tears in her eyes, Gu Qingqing sniffed, blinked at him a few times, and pouted, looking pitiful.

"And my hands, I got pricked by branches when I fell." She held up her slightly injured hands to show him, wanting his comfort and concern.

"I'm sorry, Qingqing, I failed to protect you." Fu Jue frowned, his heart filled with guilt and pain.

It was his indecisiveness that led to this dangerous situation, and he even hurt her.

If something really happens to her, he will never forgive himself.

"It's not Master Fu's fault, I don't blame you, let's go back quickly! I don't like it here."

"Okay. Let's go home." Fu Jue wanted to carry her back, but the path through the woods was difficult to walk on.

He could only hold her hand and walk carefully.

Just as they were about to leave the woods, they heard a crunching sound from behind as they stepped on branches.

The sound was very faint because they were also walking on the branches scattered on the ground, which assimilated the sound, and most people could not distinguish the source of the sound.

But Gu Qingqing and Fu Jue both understood and sensed danger.

The two exchanged a glance, understood each other's meaning, and continued walking forward without stopping.

He didn't show the slightest sign of panic.

They made it out of the woods without incident, but the bad guys never came out.

This made them even more worried and afraid, because the open space offered them no cover to hide in and save their lives.

The police were still nearby.

"Fu Jue, you all should die!" Bolt emerged from the dark woods, the moonlight shining on him, yet it held no warmth.

Even the warm moonlight seemed to be absorbed into his body, shrouding him in darkness and creating a sinister and terrifying atmosphere.

His eyes were red and swollen from being corroded by pepper spray, and he could only half-open them, his vision blurry.

But he could clearly see Fu Jue and Gu Qingqing's figures.

The dark muzzle of the gun was pointed at Fu Jue, then suddenly moved behind Gu Qingqing, aiming at the back of her head.

Bang--

Gu Qingqing didn't dare to turn around. She only felt a deafening gunshot ringing in her ears. Suddenly, Fu Jue hugged her and spun her around. She felt dizzy as he spun around with her.

Before she could react, she heard another gunshot, and then she fell to the ground.

Fu Jue also fell down, pressing down on her legs.

"Ah—" Bolt screamed in pain, looking down at the large hole in his chest where a bullet had pierced his chest, and then he knelt down.

That's fast.

He didn't even see Fu Jue draw his gun and fire.

"Fu Jue—" Bolt shouted, looking up at Fu Jue, who was also lying motionless on the ground.

Is he dead or not?

The revenge attempt failed!

Sister, I'm sorry, I didn't kill the murderer who killed you, but he will never be happy, never.

I curse him to never find happiness in his life.

"Hahaha--"

Bolt's expression was ferocious, blood kept gushing from his mouth, and he struggled to raise his right hand, wanting to shoot Gu Qingqing again, but he had no strength and the gun fell from his hand.

After a loud laugh, his young life finally came to an end. His eyes closed, and his body, stained with blood, fell straight backward, finally landing on the grass.

Gu Qingqing was relieved to see that Bolt was dead.

"Fu Jue—" She didn't push Fu Jue off her legs, but struggled to sit up and hug him.

"Master Fu, what's wrong? Wake up, don't scare me."

Her hands touched his body, only to find them covered in blood. "Fu Jue—"

Is he injured?

He was shot while trying to save her; it was all her fault.

"Master Fu, I'm so sorry, sob sob sob..." Gu Qingqing hugged him sadly, tears streaming down her cheeks and falling onto his face.

"Please wake up, Master Fu! I'll agree to anything you ask if you wake up. I just want you to live. Open your eyes and look at me, Master Fu—"

It was at this moment that she realized how important he was to her.

She can't lose him.
