Under the dim sky, the ruined city resembled a sleeping behemoth, its silence carrying an unsettling aura. Ning Yu, carrying the dry rations he had found, hurried back to the temporary shelter. However, the scene before him made his heart sink.

The shelter's doors were tightly shut, and a group of survivors gathered outside, whispering amongst themselves. An unease permeated the crowd, like a thick, indistinct fog. Ning Yu pushed through the throng, squeezing in, and anxiously asked, "What happened?"

"Ning Yu, you're back just in time!" A familiar voice, tinged with smugness, came from behind the crowd. "Now, this shelter is mine!"

Ning Yu looked in the direction of the sound and saw Grandpa Sun standing at the entrance of the shelter, holding a sharp stone in his hand, his face full of arrogance. Behind him, several burly men were glaring menacingly at the surrounding crowd.

"Uncle Sun, what's going on..." Ning Yu suppressed his anger and tried to find out what had happened.

"Don't try to get on my good side!" Old Sun interrupted him rudely. "Where were you when I was out there risking my life? Now that you've found a good place, you only remember this old man?"

"Uncle Sun, I always thought we were helping each other..." Ning Yu wanted to explain, but was rudely interrupted by Uncle Sun.

"Enough nonsense! I'm in charge here now. You either get out of here, or..." Grandpa Sun raised the stone in his hand and said fiercely, "Don't blame me for being impolite!"

Anger burned within Ning Yu, but he knew this was not the time to act rashly. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and said coldly, "Uncle Sun, don't forget, we all worked together back then..."

"Shut up!" Grandpa Sun roared, hurling the stone in his hand at Ning Yu. Ning Yu dodged to the side, the stone grazing his scalp, a burning pain shooting through him, and blood trickling down his forehead.

“You…” Ning Yu wiped the blood from his face with the back of his hand, his eyes instantly turning sharp.

Seeing this, Grandpa Sun grinned maliciously, "You won't listen to reason, so you'll have to drink the penalty cup! Get them!"

As soon as he finished speaking, several men behind him brandished their weapons and charged at Ning Yu. The open space in front of the shelter instantly turned into a chaotic battlefield. Ning Yu dodged an attack by the side and punched one of the men in the face with his backhand.

Grandpa Sun didn't participate in the attack. He stood aside, watching Ning Yu charge through the crowd, a sinister smile on his face. "Let's see how long you can last!"

He slowly raised the stone in his hand and aimed it at Ning Yu's back...

"Die!" Grandpa Sun roared, the stone in his hand whistling as he slammed it down on Ning Yu's back. Ning Yu keenly sensed the force of the wind behind him and lunged forward, barely dodging the fatal blow. The stone struck the ground with a dull thud.

Ning Yu sprang to his feet, his anger fully ignited. He clenched his fists and charged at Grandpa Sun. The two wrestled, exchanging blows and rolling around in the cramped shelter.

"Bang!" Ning Yu punched Grandpa Sun in the face. Grandpa Sun screamed in pain as blood gushed from his nose. He covered his nose, staggered back, and his eyes were filled with resentment.

"You little brat, how dare you hit me!" Grandpa Sun wiped the blood from his face, picked up a piece of gravel from the ground, and lunged at Ning Yu again.

Just then, a deep roar came from outside the shelter, and the ground began to tremble slightly.

"Roar—!" A deafening roar, accompanied by a gust of foul wind, and several dark figures smashed open the shelter door and rushed in.

"Mutant dog!" A gasp erupted from the crowd.

Several large, mutated dogs with eerie green eyes were baring their teeth and staring at the people in the shelter, their foul-smelling saliva dripping onto the ground from their sharp fangs.

When Grandpa Sun saw the mutated dog, he turned pale with fright, and the pebbles in his hand fell to the ground. He looked around in terror, and finally hid behind Ning Yu, saying in a trembling voice, "Ning, Ning Yu, quick, quick, think of something!"

Ning Yu: ...

Ning Yu looked at Grandpa Sun, who was trembling behind him, took a deep breath, and suppressed his anger. In this life-or-death situation, he could only deal with the immediate crisis first.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath, grabbed a broken steel pipe from beside him, and swung it at the mutated dog that pounced on him.

"Clang!" The steel pipe slammed into the mutated dog's head, making a piercing sound. The mutated dog was knocked back several steps by the force, shook its head fiercely, and stared intently at Ning Yu with its bright green eyes.

The shelter was cramped, and the mutated dogs were enormous, making it difficult for Ning Yu to dodge. He quickly sustained several new wounds, but he did not back down. He used the terrain to his advantage and maneuvered around the mutated dogs. He nimbly dodged their attacks and, seizing the opportunity, slammed the steel pipe in his hand into their vital areas.

"Roar—!" A mutated dog was hit in the eye by Ning Yu, let out a painful howl, twisted its body wildly, and knocked over the simple storage shelf in the shelter.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ning Yu rolled away to dodge the attack of another mutated dog, only to see the injured mutated dog rushing towards Grandpa Sun.

Grandpa Sun was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground, his face deathly pale, and cried out incoherently, "Help! Help me!"

Ning Yu sneered inwardly, but did not stop them. Instead, he pretended not to notice and continued to fight the other mutated dogs, drawing their attention to himself.

"Bang!" The injured mutant dog went berserk and rammed into Grandpa Sun, knocking him to the ground.

"Ah—!" Grandpa Sun screamed as the mutated dog's foul-smelling mouth bit his arm.
