The blinding light forced everyone to instinctively raise their arms to shield their eyes, only cautiously lowering them once their eyes adjusted. It was an unimaginably vast room, its walls smooth as mirrors, reflecting a cold, metallic sheen. An unknown material emitted a faint blue glow under the surge of energy. In the center of the room floated a massive spherical device, countless arcs of electricity dancing wildly across its surface like roaring, hissing lightning snakes. Below the device, a figure stood with their back to them, their black robes almost blending into the surrounding shadows.
“You’ve finally come…” A deep voice echoed in the empty room, hoarse like metal scraping.
Ning Yu's heart sank. Was this the Overlord? He hadn't even seen him yet, but the mere pressure emanating from him made it hard for him to breathe. He could feel the fear in the hearts of his teammates; their bodies trembled slightly, and their palms, gripping their weapons, were drenched in sweat.
The black-clad figure slowly turned around, revealing a weathered face. His eyes were as deep as the vast starry sky, yet as cold as millennia-old ice; a single glance was enough to freeze one's soul.
"You are... the Overlord?" Ning Yu tried hard to control his voice, making sure it didn't tremble at all.
"I am." The ruler nodded slightly, his voice devoid of any emotion, yet carrying an undeniable authority. "You...have come to stop me?"
No one answered, but the answer was self-evident.
"Overestimating yourselves." The Overlord sneered, raising his hand and pointing to the spherical device suspended in mid-air. "Look at it. This is the final resting place of the world you've been struggling to protect!"
The spherical device emitted a piercing buzz, and the electric arcs became even more violent, like a wild beast about to break free of its cage. A powerful energy fluctuation spread out, and the air in the room seemed to thicken.
Ning Yu and the others were so oppressed by this force that they could hardly breathe, and despair appeared on their faces.
"Is this... despair?" a team member muttered to himself, his weapon slipping limply from his hand and falling to the ground with a crisp sound.
Just then, a warm and strong hand gripped his shoulder.
“No…” Mu Xue’s voice trembled slightly, but she tried her best to remain calm. “Don’t be afraid…” She looked around; everyone’s face was filled with despair, but she had to stand up. Even if the hope was slim, she couldn’t give up. “Ning Yu is still holding on, and we can’t give up either!”
Her words were like a shot in the arm, rekindling a glimmer of hope in the team members who had been on the verge of despair. Yes, their leader, the all-powerful Ning Yu, was still fighting; how could they give up like this?
"Mu Xue is right!" a team member shouted, gripping his weapon tightly, his eyes resolute. "Even if there's only a sliver of hope, we'll fight to the death!"
"Why waste words with them!" The Overlord waved his hand impatiently, and the suspended spherical device emitted a deafening roar. A blinding energy wave, like a roaring dragon, swept towards Ning Yu and the others with a world-destroying momentum.
"Get out of the way!" Ning Yu roared, unleashing a powerful surge of mental energy that formed a transparent barrier in front of everyone.
The energy wave slammed into the barrier, creating a deafening explosion. The entire room trembled violently, debris rained down from the ceiling, and huge cracks appeared in the floor.
Ning Yu groaned, his face ashen, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. Even with all his might, he could only barely withstand this attack. The power of the Dominator was far greater than he had imagined.
"You ants think you can stop me?" The ruler looked down at them with disdain in his eyes. "Overestimating yourselves!"
"Even if you are a god, we will drag you down from your pedestal!" Mu Xue roared, her long whip flying out like a venomous snake, aiming straight for the ruler's face.
The other team members also joined in, their various supernatural powers intertwining like dazzling fireworks bursting in the room. However, their attacks were like insignificant dust to the Overlord, utterly unable to cause him any real harm.
"Like a mantis trying to stop a chariot!" The Overlord sneered, effortlessly deflecting all attacks with a wave of his hand. He slowly raised his hand, his eyes flashing with icy killing intent, "Since you are so stubborn, then..."
"Then die!" Before the Overlord finished speaking, the energy ball in his hand shone brightly, and an even more terrifying energy fluctuation spread throughout the room, as if it would devour the entire space in the next second.
"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue cried out in despair. She knew that this time, they were probably doomed.
However, at this critical moment, Ning Yu, who had been silent all along, suddenly moved. His eyes widened as he stared intently at the energy ball in the Dominator's hand, a cryptic expression appearing on his face.
"What's wrong?" a teammate who had been protecting Ning Yu asked in a low voice, a hint of hope in his tone. Did Ning Yu still have a way?
Ning Yu did not answer, or rather, he no longer had time to answer. All his attention was focused on the energy sphere in the Dominator's hand, or more precisely, on a tiny point at the center of the energy sphere.
He had just discovered this point during the fierce battle. The Overlord seemed invincible, but the energy ball in his hand, the source of his power, seemed to have a tiny fluctuation, an extremely subtle weak point.
This discovery ignited a glimmer of hope in Ning Yu's heart, but it was only a glimmer. The point was far too small, and its location was extremely close to the core of the energy sphere. Attacking this point was akin to dancing on a knife's edge; a slight misstep would result in being completely devoured by the powerful energy.
