Chapter 234 Danger Appears, Another Storm Rises

"Don't move, you've exhausted yourself, take a rest first." Mu Xue pressed down on his shoulder, her tone filled with concern and worry.

Just then, a strange sound came from afar, like the sound of metal scraping against the ground, dull and regular, coming closer and closer, and sounding particularly clear in the open wilderness.

Ning Yu and Mu Xue's expressions changed simultaneously. They exchanged a glance, both seeing seriousness in each other's eyes. The sound clearly didn't come from the giant python; it sounded more like the noise of some kind of large machinery.

Mu Xue helped Ning Yu up, and the two of them stood up, supporting each other, looking warily in the direction from which the sound came. The sun had completely sunk below the horizon, night had fallen, and the surrounding light was getting dimmer and dimmer, so that only vague outlines could be seen in the distance.

"What is that?" Mu Xue asked in a low voice, her grip on the weapon tightening unconsciously.

Ning Yu remained silent. He tried to mobilize his internal power, but found almost no response. The battle had exhausted his supernatural abilities, leaving him as weak as an ordinary person, utterly powerless to cope with the impending crisis.

The sound of metal scraping grew closer, accompanied by a deep engine roar, and a massive black shadow appeared in their field of vision, slowly approaching them...

"We..." Ning Yu had only uttered one word when his voice abruptly stopped, because he saw a blinding light suddenly emanate from the top of the dark figure, enveloping their silhouette.

At the same time, the earth began to tremble slightly, as if some enormous creature was approaching. Ning Yu was extremely anxious. He knew that in this unprepared situation, once danger struck, they would be powerless to fight back.

"Quick, find cover!" Ning Yu shouted in a low voice, while pulling Mu Xue toward a boulder by the roadside.

Mu Xue was also looking around, searching for usable terrain or objects. But as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but desolate Gobi Desert and scattered pebbles.

"It's too late!" Mu Xue shoved Ning Yu aside and shouted, pointing behind them, "It's over there!"

Ning Yu turned around and saw a huge shadow looming over them, blotting out the sky. Before he could even see what it was, he felt an overwhelming sense of oppression wash over him.

"Run!" Ning Yu grabbed Mu Xue's hand and ran wildly in the direction away from the giant shadow.

However, their speed was insignificant compared to the giant shadow, which moved with incredible speed, like a black lightning bolt, arriving behind them in an instant...

"Lower your head!" Ning Yu suddenly tackled Mu Xue to the ground.

Suddenly, a sharp cry rang out from the sky, and a huge black shadow swooped down from the clouds, bringing with it a gust of wind that whipped up sand and stones, darkening the sky. Ning Yu and Mu Xue were swept to the ground by the sudden gale, rolling several times before barely coming to a stop. Ning Yu felt as if all the bones in his body were about to fall apart; he struggled to stand up, only to find his limbs aching and weak.

He looked up and saw a gigantic, strange bird circling overhead, its wingspan easily exceeding ten meters, blotting out the sun. The bird was covered in thick, black feathers, as if cast from steel, gleaming with a cold, metallic sheen. It had a pair of sharp eyes, like two searchlights, coldly watching its prey on the ground, its gaze filled with ferocity and greed.

"What the hell is this thing?!" Mu Xue was also stunned by this sudden change. She had never seen such a huge bird of prey before, and her heart was filled with fear and unease.

Ning Yu didn't have time to answer. He endured the excruciating pain and struggled to his feet. He knew that facing such a powerful enemy, sitting and waiting for death would only lead to his demise. He had to find a way to attract the strange bird's attention and buy Mu Xue time to escape.

He took a deep breath, mobilized all the remaining supernatural power within him, and roared at the strange bird, "Hey! Ugly monster! I'm your opponent!"

The strange bird seemed enraged by Ning Yu's provocation. It let out a deafening cry, flapped its wings, and swooped down towards Ning Yu. Ning Yu neither dodged nor evaded, but instead charged towards the strange bird.

"Ning Yu! No!" Upon seeing this, Mu Xue turned pale and cried out in alarm.

Ning Yu ignored Mu Xue's shouts, his eyes fixed on the swooping strange bird, filled with determination. Just as the bird was about to touch him, he suddenly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding its attack.

Enraged by its missed attack, the strange bird circled in the air once before swooping down on Ning Yu again. This time, Ning Yu didn't choose to meet it head-on. Instead, he used his agile movements to dodge and weave through the bird's attacks, trying to find an opportunity to counterattack.

However, the strange bird was simply too fast, and Ning Yu's attempts to counterattack were easily thwarted. His stamina was exhausted, his movements were slowing down, and it looked like the strange bird was about to catch up with him.

"Go! Don't worry about me!" Ning Yu suddenly shouted at Mu Xue, his tone filled with unwavering determination.

Mu Xue hesitated for a moment. She understood Ning Yu's intention, but she was unwilling to abandon him and escape alone. She gritted her teeth, about to refuse, when she heard Ning Yu roar again, "Go! That's an order!"

"Go! That's an order!" Ning Yu roared hoarsely, his tone filled with unwavering determination. He knew he was powerless to resist and could only use his own life to buy Mu Xue a chance at survival.

Mu Xue felt as if an invisible hand was gripping her heart tightly, tears blurring her vision. She understood Ning Yu's intentions, and even more so, his determination. He was using his own life to pave an escape route for her.
