Chapter 177 Welcome Home

Lin Wanwan followed him to the living room and saw a man even taller than Lu Feng sitting on the sofa. His features did not resemble Lu Feng's; he looked more like Song Lanzhi.

He didn't look as cold and hard as Lu Feng; his expression was gentle, and his handsome face showed him leaning to the side, talking to Lu Feng with his head down.

Seeing Song Lanzhi bring Lin Wanwan in, she looked up.

Lin Wanwan thought he was even more handsome than Lu Feng. He had matured with time. Although he was only thirty, he seemed to have experienced a lot of hardships, and he looked steady and refined.

Lu Feng stood up, stepped forward and put his arm around her, "Brother, this is my wife, Lin Wanwan."

Lu Anyang also stood up and looked at his younger brother's wife.

"Wanwan, this is my eldest brother, Lu Anyang."

Lin Wanwan greeted him with a smile, "Big brother, welcome home. Lu Feng and Mom have missed you so much."

Lu Anyang chuckled and looked at Lu Feng, saying, "I used to worry about you. Nobody would want you because of your character. Now you actually have such a gentle and beautiful wife."

Lu Feng touched his nose in response to his brother's mockery.

Song Lanzhi said happily, "Sit down quickly, sit down quickly, Wanwan, come and sit down."

The group sat down to chat. Song Lanzhi was very happy and told Lu Anyang about their childhood stories. She looked at the stories again and again and couldn't help but wipe away her tears.

Seeing his tired face, Lin Wanwan patted Song Lanzhi's back. "Mom, brother has been on the plane for so long, let him rest. It's nighttime abroad now, let him rest first."

Lu Anyang gave her a grateful look. He was indeed very tired. He had been on the plane for so long and hadn't had a good rest. Returning to his familiar home, Lu Anyang was excited to face his family, but also felt a little unfamiliar with them.

After more than a decade, his grandfather was gone, his father was gone, and only his younger brother and mother remained. He understood the painstaking efforts his grandfather had made when he sent him abroad, taking most of the family's assets with him.

He did everything in his power to protect those assets and created a much larger world for himself.

He just misses home all the time, misses his parents, misses his younger brother, and misses his grandfather who was a strategist and raised him.

Lu Anyang's mind was a bit confused, and coupled with the fatigue from the journey, he felt unreal, as if he were walking on cotton.

Seeing that her son looked exhausted, Song Lanzhi quickly urged him to go back to his room to rest.

Lu Feng stood up and said, "I'll take my brother back to his room."

Song Lanzhi watched the two brothers walk away into the distance, then quietly wiped away her tears.

"Mom, you're supposed to be happy today, so why are you crying the whole time?"

Song Lanzhi patted her to indicate that she was alright.

“When Grandpa wanted to send him away, I disagreed and made a fuss at home for a long time. Later, An Yang came to me himself and said he was willing to go. I know he was willing to go for our family’s sake. After more than ten years away, he came back and we were strangers. It’s all my fault. I was not able to protect him.”

"Mom, don't think like that. My brother has been gone for so many years, and so many things have happened in the family. Grandpa and Dad are gone too. He must not be able to adjust right away. Mom, don't blame yourself. Now that my brother is back, you should treat him better and be a little more biased towards him."

Song Lanzhi burst into laughter through her tears, "I'm being biased, aren't you angry?"

"Why should I be angry? Before, when my older brother wasn't back, you gave all your love to me and Lu Feng. Now that you're favoring my older brother, isn't that the right thing to do? Besides, Lu Feng and I aren't petty people."

Song Lanzhi looked at her and sighed, "Our family is truly blessed to have you."

"Mom, don't praise me like that, I'm not that good."

Song Lanzhi patted her hand without saying anything. After a while, she asked, "Where is Bai Ying?"

"Have you forgotten that her broadcasting teacher came today?"

Song Lanzhi smiled and said, "Look at my memory, I even mentioned it at breakfast this morning."

As the two were talking, Bai Ying walked in.

"Aunt Song, you're back! Did you pick up Brother Lu?"

Song Lanzhi smiled and waved to her, and Bai Ying sat down next to her.

"I received the call. He was tired and went to rest. Did he finish his class?"

Bai Ying nodded, "Yes, I just saw the teacher out. My brother said he'll come over tonight. He'll bring a gift when Brother Lu comes back. Auntie, do you find him annoying? If you don't, I'll let him come over."

"I don't mind, but please don't bring a gift. Don't be so formal."

Bai Ying called her brother with a smile, but Song Lanzhi thought she couldn't explain it clearly, so she took the phone and told him, "Don't bring anything when you come over tonight, we have everything at home. I'll be happy if you can come over for dinner."

It's unclear what Bai Qi said, but it made Song Lanzhi laugh continuously.

Lin Wanwan and Bai Ying exchanged a glance. "Your brother's got some skills, huh? How come he hasn't found you a sister-in-law yet?"

Bai Ying pouted, "No one in our family would want to marry him."

Lin Wanwan poked her forehead. "Don't think I don't know, you and your brother have been looking for a place to live recently."

"Hehe, actually it doesn't matter whether we buy it or not. My brother is at work during the week, and I have to go to school. During holidays, I'll probably be either at your place or at Grandpa's. But my brother says we have to buy a house, because that's our home."

"That's true. You should still buy a house. If you encounter any difficulties, remember to let me know."

"Okay, I'll definitely come to you if I don't have enough money."

Lin Wanwan looked her over. "You seem to be in a good mood lately."

"Well, I think I've figured out a lot of things after the exam. My brother is here, my godmother is here, and you guys are here too. I feel very confident now."

Lin Wanwan smiled and said, "It's good that you think that way."

After hanging up the phone, Song Lanzhi felt refreshed and energized.

Lin Wanwan seemed to remember something and reached out to make a phone call.

"Hey, Grandpa, Mom's not home? Is my brother back? No, is there any news? Oh, it's okay, I was just worried and wanted to ask. No, it's nothing, it's just that my due date is coming up soon, and I'm worried that my brother won't be able to come back to see his nephew in time."

Lin Wanwan's expression wasn't good after hanging up the phone; she planned to ask Bai Qi about it that evening.

"What's wrong? Hasn't Brother Gu Bei come back yet?"

"Hmm, it's been more than two months since you left, hasn't it? I'm a little worried. Have you heard your brother mention it?"

"No, my brother is so busy, I haven't seen him for many days."

Song Lanzhi comforted her, "Don't worry, Gu Bei is so capable, he'll be fine."

Lu Feng followed his brother into his courtyard, while Lu Anyang kept looking around, appearing quite dazed.

He seemed a little unsure if he was dreaming again, dreaming that he had gone home, back to the courtyard where he lived.

He stumbled and almost fell, but Lu Feng rushed forward to support him. "Brother, be careful!!"

Lu Anyang stared at him blankly, remembering when he was a child, he climbed a tree to pick pomegranates for his younger brother. Lu Feng was six years old then, and he was nine.

Seeing how high he was climbing, Lu Feng shouted anxiously, "Brother, be careful!!"

As a result, Lu Anyang still fell and broke his left hand. Lu Feng stayed by his side for a month, helping him carry things, serving him food, and even secretly crying.
